I was on Seroquel and Risperidone and it caused me nightmares to the point where I would wake up from my own screams (or crying) and I couldn't remember the dreams at all, just the feeling I had when I woke up... I was only on them for a short while (maybe a few days to a week, sorry I don't remember as I was in the hospital and this was 2008) and the nightmares just recently stopped.
I suffer from sleep disorder and anxiety once in a while, i was taking xanax .5mg every night to be able to sleep but now I want to get completely off it. I used to take regular ambien to get a good night rest and everything was fine and dandy. one time I thought I was having freaking heart attack and I felt like bugs were crwaling in my skin, i went over to the E-Room and they told me that I had GAD, this is when Xanax came in to my life.
I did a lot of studying and asking questions, and it turns out that seroquel and effexor has a side affect of craving carbs, and also has a tendency to slow down your activity, mentally and physically. The mental part is good, it evened me out, but the physical tiredness, and then the weight gain made me decide to drop the seroquel.
I switched to Effexor XR about a year ago because Zoloft was not doing enough for my depression. I was and still am taking Wellbutrin XL to combat the sexual side effects. Shortly after I started Effexor my doctor also put me on Seroquel. So I have been on these 3 drugs for the past year. Last month my doctor suggested I up my dosage of Effexor from 150mg to 225 mg.
Before that, I was misdiagnosed with Bipolar disorder and was being treated with 800mg of Seroquel XR daily, 4mg of Klonopin, and 150 of Effexor XR both daily as well. I went through Hell going cold turkey off the Seroquel, while weening from Effexor. I traded the Klonopin off for Ativan and weened it down from 2mg daily to now taking it as needed (generally .5 daily or every other day. And I started taking the Lexapro as it agreed with me in a way that nothing else did.
I have been on medications for almost 11 years. I have been through so many. and At the present time I am on Effexor xr 150mg, Prozac 40 mg as the Dr. was trying to wean me from 225 of the effexor xr and add the prozac. 1 mg of xanax 4 x’s a day, seroquel 150 mg at night. So this was my new medication line up after switching psych drs. after 10 years. need a new beginning. not feeling good.
So this is what she added in. I am a homembody and fear the everyday so it was hard to get to some appts.
Psych: Effexor XR, Topamax, Lexapro, Seroquel, Trazadone, Xanax (prn)
Other: Aciphex (GERD), Detrol (Urinary issue), Evoxac (Sjogrens), Levoxyl (Thyroid), Oxycotin (pain), Plaquenil (Lupus), Provigil (alterness), Vicodin PRN (pain), 3 tropical ointments, 8 OTC vitamins/minerals
12 Rx daily (over 20 actual pills, some as many as 4x/day)
3 topicals
2 PRNs
8 OTCs
Do I win? I never win anything, so, maybe in my loss of health, I can win in the number of meds I take!
t have severe anxiety but I have met a lot of people on Remeron, Klonopin, and Seroquel (usually not at the same time) and although all of them are great for anxiety, some of it is cognitive. What has been going on in your life recently that has changed which made you want to start smoking marijuana? If you just had a minor elevation in anxiety than talk to your therapist (if you have one) and ask them what you can do along with the meds to pull you out of it.
never quite getting the relief I needed. My Doctor added Seroquel and Tramadol -very low dose- and boom...have never felt better. I have taken this combo for over two years. Some days , I forget the Efexxor 35 mg and those are the only days I feel irritated and bad. I really think I need to get this med out of my system, as it never worked well, and because I take such a low dose now, it prob. is doing nothing. my doctor is fine with a slow taper, but now I dread the withdrawls.......any ideas?
i take 375mg of effexor and 300mg of seroquel each day and ive noticed the weight gain coz im quite skinny and i dont really eat that much, i get the crazy dreams and nitemares with the effexor ive even been unlucky enough to be 1 of the 1 in 10,000 that gets seizures from taking it, its no fun shoving a load of pills down ur neck every day just so u can be semi normal, i look 4ward to the day i dont have to fight myself just to stay alive, its no way to life your life
This August my father passed away and i went in a deep depression. Psychiatrist put me on Fetzima 40 mg wich i was already taking and Seroquel 50 mg. Been on it for about a week and feeling better. Then my neurologist tells me i need to get off Topomax and get on Lamictal. When the depression hit bad the headaches got bad again so i started taking the topomax and side effects vanished. I loved topomax and now they tell me to get rid of it.
Today, he switched me from Effexor to Celexa, which is good because I was never completely happy with Effexor anyway. However, he said that I can stop the Effexor cold turkey and go straight to the Celexa. Is this correct? I always thought you had to taper off Effexor, and I know how badly it affects me if I even miss a single dose. I took my "last" Effexor today, and am supposed to replace it completely with the Celexa tomorrow. Is that advisable?
Seroquel is NOT an antidepressant, an atypical antipsychotic med and is NOT appropriate to be used as an insomnia aid, especially when it wasn't Rx'd to you.
You need to see your doctor. Depending on the dose you were taking, you may be in some danger.
This is why you NEVER take meds off other people. Especially with a history of addiction, you're looking to self medicate. Sometimes doing that will lead to very bad things.
I got back on regular effexor and began to feel positive effects but not totally. I switched to XR Effexor and it worked better. But still not full remission. I started th regular effexor 13 weeks ago and have been on the EFFEXOR XR for 2 weeks. But I still don't feel like myself. I feel better but not consistantly good. I feel best in the PM. Mornings are the worst part of my day. I take 1 150mg dose at 9PM. Should I ask the doctor to increase my dosage to 300mg.
