My doc gave me Ritalin for ADD and Effexor for depression but this last one gave me too many side effects and I stopped taking it. Now he switched me to Wellbutrin (150 mg once a day) and 30 mg Ritalin. I have felt sick but am not sure if it is the withdrawal effects from stopping Effexor or the mixture of Wellbutrin and Ritalin. I feel brain spasms, especially in the back of my head. Today I did not take the Ritalin and felt no spasms.
Go to a dr they will place him back on the effexor and ween him off slowly. To go cold turkey his mind is a mess it cancause seizures and even worse things. HIs mind is trying to rewire itself but basically it is just misfiring because it is now missing the chemicals that were once there. It takes a while to come off of a drig like effexor safely. it is never safe to come off cold turkey unless it is a medical necessity and under constant supervision of a physician.
Hi i am trying to find out if any1 else who takes effexor has had as many side effects as i have, which is basically them all including seizures and blackouts? I was on 375mg put due to the risk of another seizure have dropped down to 300mg. Has anyone else experienced as many side effects and do you think its worth all the side effects to be be ?( stable for now neway) .The doctors seem to think its worth it but then they dont have a load of side effects to deal with.
For sideefects I am always shaky and dizzy and I also have palpitations and feel a bit confused. Also some extra dizziness seems to come in waves.
My biggest problem is that I am so afraid of seizures (probably a part of my GAD) I think about it all the time, I also live alone and am afraid that I will have a seizure when I am alone. I also read on for instance askapatient.com and read that quite many have had seizures with Wellbutrin also on the lowest dose.
I never heard of an antidepressant causing seizure while stopping cold turkey buy you will most likely experience brain zaps which are electric shock-like sensations lasting for a second thru your entire brain and sometimes spreading to other areas. Brain zaps are not to be confused with seizures. Both are extremely different and brain zaps are not dangerous at all. You might have to endure them for up to 1 month,

Yes it is true. You cannot stop Effexor cold turkey. Because it involves the seratonin and neurepinephrine in your brain, cutting the Effexor off cold turkey can cause many symptoms. Call your doctor to get on the prescription drug program either at a local pharmacy or through the pharmaceutical company and see if your doctor can hook you up with some samples until you can get the medications from one of those programs.
Maybe I am going through withdrawal symptoms too from Effexor too. I was on Effexor and Lyrica. Effexor for depression but also for neuropathy pain in my fee also. It seemed the Lyrica and Effexor combined worked for the pain, I went to a neurologist and he took me off the Lyrica, which made me gain 60lbs! lol... and put me on Zonisamide. It has been great for my pain. But now that aI have been on it awhile I am feeling sick to my stomach every morning and my head feels fuzzy.

The prescription medicines like triptans, rizatriptan and zolmitriptan come in various forms like nasal sprays, injections and tablets that dissolve on the tongue and can be used for you since nausea and vomiting is an issue. I wondered if there was a similarity between Tramadol and Effexor! I was put on Effexor after my dad suddenly passed away and I was taking alot of Tramadol during that time as well. i take 375mg of effexor and 300mg of seroquel each day and ive noticed the weight gain coz im quite skinny and i dont really eat that much, i get the crazy dreams and nitemares with the effexor ive even been unlucky enough to be 1 of the 1 in 10,000 that gets seizures from taking it, its no fun shoving a load of pills down ur neck every day just so u can be semi normal, i look 4ward to the day i dont have to fight myself just to stay alive, its no way to life your life
I have been put on many antidepressants like prozac, wellbutrin, effexor, fetzima etc. A migraine last year made me have seizures for the first time in my life and a neurologist put me on topomax to control the migraines. It made me feel funny so i never took it and decided to live with the migraines. This August my father passed away and i went in a deep depression. Psychiatrist put me on Fetzima 40 mg wich i was already taking and Seroquel 50 mg.
