effexor and oxycodone

When my doctor saw me, he said he wanted me off of them immediately, so I quit the clorazepate and the oxycodone without looking back, but I had to continue 15 mg of vicodin a day for residual leg pain. The day after I quit the narcotics, I developed a debilitating case of anxiety that I thought was drug withdrawal, but it kept on for weeks. Xanax didn't touch it until I started taking 37.5 mg of Effexor each day.

I have tried antidepressants such as lexipro... Busprin.... effexor...zoloft and wellbutrin with no success. They made me feel sicker. I could not tolerate them. Felt like I had been poisoned. 7 years ago I was on paxil...... I tolerated that and I am supposed to try paxil again... was to start 3 weeks ago but honestly I am apprehensive as I feel I am just now stabilizing after zoloft and busporin 6 weeks ago. Hepatologist says she won't treat me without anti-depressant first.

hi lola, having been in your position before i would advise you to find another doctor or medication. I suffer from Major Clinical Depression, Anxiety, Panic Disorder and Chronic Pain. I was initially prescribed SSRI based Anti-Depressants for my Depression and Tramadol 200SR for my pain. The SSRI medication "Ecitalopram" i was told would take 5 weeks to kick in. In that time i developed serious side effects and instead of taking me off this medication my doctor threw more pills at me.

t take it away but make life a little bit easier. I also take Tizanadine and oxycodone for flare ups. In the morning I start taking Savella the new Fibromyalgia medication. My Rheumatologist gave me a four week starter pack of Savella today. I'm really nervous to take this medication because both Cymbalta and Lyrica were horrible medications for me. The side effects scare me. Suicide, nausea, vomiting, bleeding problems, rashes, etc. and I do mean the list goes on and on. Wish me luck.

puttputtnc: There are some medical studies out there suggesting long term oxycodone use can cause permament reduction of seratonin.. Would try to stay away from those :( Santaslittlehelper: I have the same issues you do. I often have to drink coffee or one of those 5 hr energy drinks to get me moving for work.. I have major depression and anxiety as well and am taking cymbalta and lorazapam to keep me "functional" in society. I do hope things get better for you.

I have been taking Effexor XR 450mg and Buproprion 450mg for a couple of years. I'm weaning off the Effexor, going onto Pristiq and continuing the Buproprion.

would not take lexapro and effexor together. for effexor withdrawal i take omega3 fish oil caps twice a day//benadryl as needed for dizzyness\\ b12 sublingualtwice a day\\st. johns wort twice a day// vitamin d3 twice a day ---ibuprofen(motrin) as needed for muscle pain. as far as i am concerned, i will never take a prescription rx. for anxiety and depression again. i also have ptsd. i am sticking to st. johns wort and omega 3 fish oil caps. both will treat depression.

I take 2 60mg long acting morphine a day and up to 25 5mg oxycodone and up to 8 2mg hydromorphone. I have to eat them like that to keep my pain down and I just found out that I need to have a rod in my back replaced and it is causing me so much pain I feel like I am living in my own personnel hell and I am trapped in my body and can't get out, why did this happen to me?? I don't know what to do I am hoping somebody can help me out!

I switched from effexor to wellbutrin. I had to be on both medications at the same time for a long time because of the effexor withdrawal... it was so hard to come off the effexor, I was at the lowest dose for a very long time, 25mg, because I couldn't get off of it the withdrawal symptoms were too bad for me.

Hi all, I just discovered this forum, and am hoping you can help. I have been treated w/Vicodin for awhile now for chronic pain. I have now moved from the US to India, where it is not available. Any recommendation for alternatives? I can't take codeine long term, and take Effexor, neurontin and metformin daily, w/Soma PRN as well. I can have scripts shipped here if need be, but wold prefer to avoid the hassle/expense.

I take Effexor for depression and forgot to bring it with me on a 3 day getaway with my 2 young boys. My girlfriend who was also there offered me a Xanax for the 8 hr. drive home just in case I lose it (my mind that is). I only took half and it seemed to work great. The drive was a breeze. Today however, I took my usual dosage of Effexor and now I'm feeling extremely detached. Like I just don't care about anything that is happening - good or bad.

My doctor has suggested that I come off effexor (which i have been on for over 2 years) and start taking Wellbutrin XL. I was to take both of them for 1 week and then stop the effexor and take Wellbutrin only. I have not been feeling very good very tense, anxious, lightheaded and chest pains. I spoke to a pharmasist who suggested stopping the effexor straight away and continuing with the Wellbutrin.

I have been weaning of 37.5 mg of Effexor for a week and a half taking it every other day. When can I start taking 25-50mg of 5Htp. Will this be safe to do? The Effexor is driving me crazy (sweating, fatigue, nausea..etc)..

Do you think the PN was always this bad and reducing the Effexor is allowing the pain and numbness to come through, or do you think the additional issues are side-effects of reducing the Effexor?

I am quitting effexor (slowly but surely) and am down to 50 mg from 150. The only problem I have is depressed mood which my shrink says is a withdrawal symptom. I plan to be med free as long as I can and if I have to get back on meds ever again (been on them for 11 years continuously) it will be lexapro first because I used to take celexa and it was working better than others. My doctor said if I get too depressed to start lexapro right away. He gave me samples.

I also was on Effexor and had a incident that my eye got a bump behind the lid and turned purple (The lid ) I also had dark circles under my eyes a few days before this. Hm, I dunno. I am going to make an appointment with an endo, because I am coming off the effexor and feeling agitated. But I don't know if that is because I am stopping effexor or becoming hyperthyroid?

wants me to take Effexor 37.5mg twice daily to help with the hot flashes and mood swings. My concern is that I was previously on Zoloft 50mg. and it gave me real bad headaches raised my blood pressure and sent me on a emergent run to the hsp. emergency room,,I am concerned about starting this medicience that it will cause the same problems or worse. My O.B. says they are different and that I should try the effexor. What does everyone else think?

s to come off Effexor and see how he goes. As a nurse, I know that many anti-depressants seriously affect libido and sexual function, but haven't wanted to tell him in case it comes across as me not being satisfied with our sex life thus putting more pressure on him.

Has any of you menopausal gals(like myself) had any experiences with reduced hot flashes while using Effexor? I am on HRT now and just started Effexor for anxiety and my dr. says it works great on reducing hot flashes. If this is so maybe I will cut back on HRT for hot flashes. Thanks!

I'd check w/ your doc and OB. I was on Lexapro and went off but I was also on a smaller dose (5 mg). I've read many different opinions but mostly I've read that during the first trimester it is best to be off. My OB reinforced that if I had any depression whatsoever that there are many safe meds to take. For me, I've been fine going off and have felt fine and am actually glad I'm off! Good luck!

Hi there, I was on this drug for about 2 days because it didn't suit me but I have had this side effect from other SSRI's and other Mental health drugs..it is very annoying and time consuming LOL..it should get better in a few weeks. I used to find night time the worst. It was as though I had to really get my brain to concentrate on urinating..sometimes turning a tap on so it makes the tinkly noise helped!

For years I took Wellbutrin, then my stress level changed, so a therapist recommended Effexor. I have taken the Effexor for about a year and it really helped. ve been taking 200mg for a while now --went back to the doctor and told her I was on effexor before so she decided that would probably work in my favor so I'm taking the smallest amount possible of the efexor along with the limictal.
