Hey everyone, Im on methadone now about 4 years and i have been feeling depressed and taking panic attacks as of late. My grandmother knows a drug called venlafaxine but dont know what it could do if im on methadone. I have seen other posts where people were on both drugs and said it worked great. I hope there is someone who could give advise.
So like 3 weeks later im still really sick and not sleeping. I used to take effexor 150mg and it really worked well for me but I only had about a months worth of samples and didn't want to start taking it without knowing i could continue to take it b/c im broke, hadn't seen a family doctor and was in another state where i wouldn't know how long that process would take.
Can Venlafaxine 37.5 m ( which is a generic brand of Effexor ) be taken with 20 mg of methadone? Are these two drugs okay to be mixed? Anyone taking this?
they too bind to opiate receptors, and they are a fast acting antidepressant all in one. so coming off of tramadol is like coming off opiates and effexor. its not pretty. you are almost there just try to keep on keeping on. you have been on a drug for 20 years, but your body will heal just dont give up. flush the tramadol down the toilet. the people here are so helpful so keep coming even if its just reading when your feeling down.
would not take lexapro and effexor together. for effexor withdrawal i take omega3 fish oil caps twice a day//benadryl as needed for dizzyness\\ b12 sublingualtwice a day\\st. johns wort twice a day// vitamin d3 twice a day ---ibuprofen(motrin) as needed for muscle pain. as far as i am concerned, i will never take a prescription rx. for anxiety and depression again. i also have ptsd. i am sticking to st. johns wort and omega 3 fish oil caps. both will treat depression.
Today I have none but have calls to people to see if they have any. I am sweating so bad and my heart is pounding. I also take Effexor EX but I think my regular doc will need to up that if I keep going without. I want to stop but I have so many health issues and paid problems I'm afraid. I don't want to have any more pain. I'm 35 and have had 12 surgeries in the last 12 years...you're probably thinking..no wonder she got so used to the pills. Well, any advice will be helpful.
I switched from effexor to wellbutrin. I had to be on both medications at the same time for a long time because of the effexor withdrawal... it was so hard to come off the effexor, I was at the lowest dose for a very long time, 25mg, because I couldn't get off of it the withdrawal symptoms were too bad for me.
I'm just wondering if anyone here has ever used anti-depressants to help them cope with the depression that comes with and after methadone withdrawal. I'm having some depression problems today, day 8 with no methadone. I have some Celexa left over from a couple years ago. I took it for a few months after a very close friend died. The Celexa is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). Anyone know anything about this? I'm tempted to take one of the antidepressants.
Im so sorry to hear that your going through this. Im detoxing from methadone and my first days were very much like your describing. What is Effexor for? It sounds familiar, I think my sister took it at one time.
Im on day 13 of a process that they say takes 3-5 months, so i understand finding it hard to stay positive.. But guess what? Today i shaved and put on makeup. I almost made it to my sons football practice. For me that was a huge victory and I was only looking for a small one.
I take Effexor for depression and forgot to bring it with me on a 3 day getaway with my 2 young boys. My girlfriend who was also there offered me a Xanax for the 8 hr. drive home just in case I lose it (my mind that is). I only took half and it seemed to work great. The drive was a breeze.
Today however, I took my usual dosage of Effexor and now I'm feeling extremely detached. Like I just don't care about anything that is happening - good or bad.
My doctor has suggested that I come off effexor (which i have been on for over 2 years) and start taking Wellbutrin XL. I was to take both of them for 1 week and then stop the effexor and take Wellbutrin only. I have not been feeling very good very tense, anxious, lightheaded and chest pains. I spoke to a pharmasist who suggested stopping the effexor straight away and continuing with the Wellbutrin.
I tried paxil and wellbutrin as well as effexor.... and I found that the effexor worked the best for me.....I didn't feel dopey or over anxious ... Your best bet like always is to check with your doctor ... but theres a few maybe to ask him about.

Hm, I dunno. I am going to make an appointment with an endo, because I am coming off the effexor and feeling agitated. But I don't know if that is because I am stopping effexor or becoming hyperthyroid?
Hi, I'm 27 yrs old, and have been addicted to hydrocodone and tramadol for the better part of 5 years. It first started with shoulder surgery and continued on recreationally. I had a prescription for tramadol for over 3 years, and it has now run out. I still have access to hydrocodone and tramadol, without a prescription. I'm basically fed up with my whole life and routine revolving around medication. Not to mention, the financial drain due to the addiction.
wants me to take Effexor 37.5mg twice daily to help with the hot flashes and mood swings. My concern is that I was previously on Zoloft 50mg. and it gave me real bad headaches raised my blood pressure and sent me on a emergent run to the hsp. emergency room,,I am concerned about starting this medicience that it will cause the same problems or worse. My O.B. says they are different and that I should try the effexor. What does everyone else think?
