Excuse me, but do you feel anxious? IBS can be dealt with through dietary changes and modalities such as meditation and the use of many natural remedies. Effexor for IBS is adding a problem, not trying to solve one. You say doctors tell you that you have anxiety, but when one has anxiety one knows it. If you don't feel anxious, don't take this drug. It's a difficult one, but besides that, it just doesn't sound like you need brain medication at all.

I have irritable bowel syndrome (ibs) and it is turning my life a biss mess, and i'm on college now. I went to a doctor and he putted me on Effexor 75mg(once daily) and bromazepan 3mg( once daily). Will this do harm to my general health? I'm really afraid, of losing memory, getting fat and teeth cavities...

I was put on effexor for anxiety, depression, IBS... that was ten years ago and I'm still taking the damn things and my dose is now 300mg a day. Try another solution or you will end up with dreadful side effects whilst trying to wean off effexor. I now have myoclonus which could (not definite) be due to effexor. I did stop taking effexor for about 6 months but my depression became so severe as nothing else helped so I had to start taking it again.

Hi I came off effexor afetr nine and a half years and went cold turkey GP's fault so I know how ill you are !! I got a private Dr who deals in withdrawal to treat the symptoms so he gave me 40 mg's of propananol I took it every morning to stop the palps he also gave me clonidine I take 150 mg's every night they give it to people coming off drugs.

Hi I went cold turkey off 150 mg's of effexor I was on 75 mg's for two years and the rest on the higher dose. My GP took me off and put me on another tablet dolsulipin that works on a different part of the brain. I had to go and live with my mum for three months with my son because I couldn't function I had nausea, body jerks, IBS, palpitations. I was so ill but now I have come through most of it still abit of disturbed sleep.

hi Lorraine, I was on effexor back in 2008 and was on it for 6month and weaned myself off it slowly and never had any side effects.

Hi Benjamin As you know you've cut down much too quickly, also your brain is trying to deal with going on zoloft. Your brain does not like sudden changes it makes withdrawal worse. No zoloft will not help with withdrawal from effexor is zoloft in the same group of anti-depressants ? Effexor is fat soluable and stays in your system for a long time in clings to fat and muscle, I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, only being honest.

Effexor and Celexa are both SSRI's I believe and you really shouldnt have been on both at the same time. Especially with Buspar. The combination seems off to me. However having to go cold turkey is hard as well. I think you need to seek another doctors help asap. Please dont take any meds from any source other than what you have been prescribed. Switch doctors asap!!!!!

yeah was on effexor and switched to prozac iv been off the effexor 16days now and today had a down day not had one of them for 3/4weeks. how long did ur diahrrea last iv had it for a few weeks now I thought it might have been a prozac side effect.

Hi i have fibromyalgia, PCOS, bipolar, borderline personality disorder, and IBS, i am wondering if due to all these things my metabolism has slowed, and what kind of food i should or should not be consuming. should i eat more smaller meals, rather than the 3 squares. basically is there a common feature with these disorders and how can i use my diet to minimize my syptoms.

They have alleviated slightly since being off of them, and my nausea has gone away since coming off. Effexor was not working for me at all and I hoped these symptoms were just side effects but evidently not. GasX, Tums, and the like have not helped at all.

I have been on Effexor XR 75 mg for 3 years. I also was taking 25 mg of Buspar, and Librax for IBS. I wanted off the Effexor as I was put on this drug without my knowledge 3 years ago when I was hospitalized. I never knew Effexor was so dangerous to come off. I finally had the courage to get off of this, and switch to Wellbutrin. By Psych Dr. agreed, and we started the tapering process. Down to 37.5 of Effexor XR while starting 200 mg of Wellbutrin. Well, no problems at the 37.5.

Someone may have already said this (this is my first post) - but when I was on Effexor and wanted to get off it, my doctor did a replacement of Effexor with Prozac. No weaning. He said one can replace the other with none of the horrible side effects people can experience in trying to get off of Effexor. For me, this worked. I got of Effexor in one day, and then weaned off of Prozac over a period of weeks, with no yucky side effects whatsoever.

Background: I had my gallbladder removed in 2012 and experienced IBS symptoms about two months after the removal. I had severe IBS symptom from 2012 until 2014, and they alleviated somewhat in late 2014 and mid-2015.

I take the tablets. (many years if IBS D) and most important is to exercise to get the sluggish bowels moving on their own Just a 30 min brisk wal a day will do it.

I have been taking Effexor XR 450mg and Buproprion 450mg for a couple of years. I'm weaning off the Effexor, going onto Pristiq and continuing the Buproprion.

would not take lexapro and effexor together. for effexor withdrawal i take omega3 fish oil caps twice a day//benadryl as needed for dizzyness\\ b12 sublingualtwice a day\\st. johns wort twice a day// vitamin d3 twice a day ---ibuprofen(motrin) as needed for muscle pain. as far as i am concerned, i will never take a prescription rx. for anxiety and depression again. i also have ptsd. i am sticking to st. johns wort and omega 3 fish oil caps. both will treat depression.

I switched from effexor to wellbutrin. I had to be on both medications at the same time for a long time because of the effexor withdrawal... it was so hard to come off the effexor, I was at the lowest dose for a very long time, 25mg, because I couldn't get off of it the withdrawal symptoms were too bad for me.

I take Effexor for depression and forgot to bring it with me on a 3 day getaway with my 2 young boys. My girlfriend who was also there offered me a Xanax for the 8 hr. drive home just in case I lose it (my mind that is). I only took half and it seemed to work great. The drive was a breeze. My doctor has suggested that I come off effexor (which i have been on for over 2 years) and start taking Wellbutrin XL. I was to take both of them for 1 week and then stop the effexor and take Wellbutrin only. I have not been feeling very good very tense, anxious, lightheaded and chest pains. I have been weaning of 37.5 mg of Effexor for a week and a half taking it every other day. When can I start taking 25-50mg of 5Htp. Will this be safe to do? The Effexor is driving me crazy (sweating, fatigue, nausea..etc)..
