Common Questions and Answers about Effects of zantac in pregnancy

zantac

Avatar m tn I was given a 2 week course of Zantac to be taken morning and evening for two weeks. Immediately after taking them, I felt good and a lot of the troubles I have been having with my mouth(white spots on tongue, sore throat) disappeared. Then, on the fourth day, it all returned with a vengeance. Sore throat, dry cough, white coated tongue, and since then has only gotten worse. I stopped the Zantac after about 12 days and on that day my neck started to ache like crazy.
7349088 tn?1390657733 Has anyone taken zantac during pregnancy for heartburn? I'm 22+5 and have heartburn almost every other day. Sometimes it's so bad that I just want to sleep so i don't feel it.
Avatar n tn I've been dealing with gerd issues for the last half year. Colonoscopy and endoscopy were negative. I did do a series of rolling barium stomach xray which did show my stomach was on a roller coaster ride. I've been on most of the meds for gerd, from Zantac to Nexium to Lansoprazole to Pantoprazole. In December I started to develope numbness in my left foot and right hand. (Last night I noticed my left anke was swollen.

I read on a few websites that the joing pain and tingling sensation could be a symptom of low B12. Anyone else have these experiences? It ***** getting old.

280369 tn?1316702041 I took it in my pregnancy in the last trimester, one a day before bed and my baby is a healthy 8 week old now. I had really bad reflux and nothing else I tried worked. My Dr said it was ok to take since I was only having one a day. If I were you I would take your doctor's advice. Good luck.
593603 tn?1229378162 I took it with my first pregnancy, but it was a lot later in the pregnancy. I am dying here, and need a fix.
Avatar n tn Hi. I'm on my 12th week. I've been diagnosed before with GERD. Now due to the pregnancy, it seemed to worsen as I experience painful heartburns. My doctor recommends I take omeprazole along with antacids. I've been taking antacids because I know they don't bare side effects on pregnancy. I am not sure though with omeprazole. I'm scared. I am afraid it might harm the baby. Anyone here experienced the same?
Avatar n tn today, i had a severe pain on the left side of my chest. like in my left breast, extending towards the side and back. it's constant pain and i feel like vomiting a bit because of that pain. it got so severe that i had to lie down and then it felt a bit better but it's still throbbing. i recently got put on antibiotics (azithromycin) for a throat infection, but these pains are not a side effect.
Avatar m tn Just one word on Zantac it is used in my opinion too much on young children for allergies, it has many side effects especially diarreha , I have also seen emotional problems in children taking it on a regular basis ..
Avatar n tn I shared some of the same stomach problems you have experienced before I was diagnosed with an ulcer. I too was positive for Helicobacter pylori.I had a mild case of gastritis and was consuming a pack of TUMS a day until an endoscope was placed in my stomach to reveal an ulcer. I also had a series of constipation. I was in a "so-called" blind study and the Gastroenterologist did not know the brand of medication that was prescribed, but it was an early drug like Zantac.
Avatar f tn html - and noticed that some of your symptoms are listed as side effects of Zantac. As far as your blood work I would make sure an endocrine screen was done. Low cortisol is an indication of adrenal insufficiency - cortisol is an important hormone that controls metabolism. Just a thought.
Avatar f tn Still the same dosis of 2 /day. It all started end of June 2015. The dr eho prescribed zantac also mentioned it could come from the gallbladder but there would be no test to confirm that now (super weird reading all about it now). In September 2015 I had an egd done and the dr confirmed the gastritis. I had no ulcers and no bacterial infection. He also mentioned that I had a lot of bile in my stomach. But nothing was done about that. I got pantoprazole after that procedure.

Avatar f tn I think you should ask your doc, each are fine alone in pregnancy but I have no idea about taking then together!
Avatar f tn ve been getting much worse this past week. Had a lot of nausea going on and got prescribed Zantac (ranitidine). Took my first dose the night before last, was feeling a little better yesterday afternoon, then in the evening I ate a baked sweet potato and felt bloated, crampy, and tight all over my back and abdomen. I was also feeling lightheaded and weak while I was having these feelings.
250701 tn?1320974765 I had to give up my proton inhibitor because it might interfere with absorption of one of the drugs. But even with Zantac I have to be careful to take it 10 hours before and 2 hours after dosing with the study drugs. I find that the only way it will help me is if I do not take it near the time of eating. So I try to take it more than an hour after and at least a half hour before eating. I also have to take 150 mg tabs. All of this creates a logistical nightmare.
Avatar n tn gum helps after each meal, I stick to mminty rather than sweet, as sweet has similar effects
3055148 tn?1368211800 Has anyone ever taken Zantac? My doctor told me to take that everyday instead of taking tums b/c they are pointless, but I kinda don't wanna take medicine.
Avatar n tn Sorry forgot to answer the actual question. I think Zantac is fine as long as your kidneys and liver are not diseased. However, it isn't as effective as a proton pump inhibitor. I would speak to your Doctor if heart burn is an issue because something like Omeprazole would be much more beneficial. I can also vouch that it doesn't reduce the effects of Clopidogrel or Lipitor.
1088529 tn?1256844030 I've just started taking zantac, and I don't know if I'll have any side effects, or if my regular symptoms (stomach pain, upset stomach) will become apparent or come back. My question is this; if I get nauseous, stomach pain, upset stomach etc. as a side effect or other, can I take tums to calm my stomach down? Or will it just make things worse? I can't talk to my doctor because (a) don't have an appointment and (b) am too young to drive there or get an appointment myself.
Avatar f tn Is that safe in pregnancy?
Avatar n tn I have acid reflux and I recently stopped taking Zantac since there was a recall on it. I had two episodes of blood in my spit in the morning after waking up.
