smoking

Avatar f tn I quit smoking at 5 weeks because it made me so sick! My girlfriend is also prego and she has been struggling to quit! She got an e CIG from the gas station and it has helped! But her doctor told her if she can't quit and it's stressing her out then she shouldn't quit fully! The stress is worse for the baby then smoking. So she is smoking 3 cigs a day now and she's 28 weeks. Smoking gives lower birth weights and can cause lung issues for your baby.
Avatar f tn I actually read a study performed on this today, a woman was in Jamaica and studied 24 mothers and babies up to 5 years. The mothers smoked during pregnancy and continued after baby was born in order to help with nausea and stress. What the study found was that there was no negative effects on the babies in fact they excelled compared to babies that were not introduced to it.
Avatar f tn Only 2mg… may not be enough to rid the effects of smoking heroin… i
1494710 tn?1288737161 Take Omeprazole empty stomach in morning and an antacid gel at bedtime. Refrain from smoking, alcohol, fuzzy drinks and spicy food. This may take care of symptoms. Consult a doctor if you have pain somewhere and ask for pain killers with less of gastric side effects. Treating the cause is the best way to deal with pain. Take care!
Avatar f tn When you see the horrible effects that can happen to the baby because of smoking, quitting will make it that much worth it. Smoking ciggs can cause cleft lip and stunted growth as well as respiratory problems. Quitting for those 9 months to avoid a life time of health challenges for your child will be worth it in the end. I promise you!
Avatar f tn I smoked when I was pregnant with my son, but I did cut back a bit by the end of my pregnancy. He was born healthly weighing 9 lbs 3 oz! This pregnancy I quit smoking completely at 7 weeks. I just felt selfish smoking. I'm fortunate my son was born healthy. With this pregnancy I don't wana take the chance of harming the baby. Good luck, it is hard, but the little life ur carrying is worth it!
Avatar f tn What are some opinions on smoking while pregnant? Risk of quitting while pregnant? Types of complications the baby can have?

Avatar f tn What are some serious short term and long term effects from smoking weed while pregnant? I'm barely 3 months, and I still smoke pot but not most of the day everyday like I did before.
Avatar f tn I found out I was pregnant when I was 6 weeks and I was smoking I had to quit cold turkey because the smell made me sick. It wouldn't hurt you to quit cold turkey but I also know people that smoked their whole pregnancy and her baby was completely healthy. My immune system isn't very strong so my sinuses are messed up a little but apparently that's normal during pregnancy.
Avatar n tn Well oddly enough my friends midwife told her she can have 2-4 cigs a day and the baby would be fine...he's 2 now and perfectly healthy, she smoked through her whole pregnancy...
Avatar f tn I was a smoker before I got pregnant and the day I found out and looked at that pregnancy test I never smoked again. Yes, you will always have cravings, but I'm sorry I think its wrong for people to smoke while they are pregnant and even breastfeeding. I don't judge anyone, I understand what its like to want and need to have a cigarette. But honestly its not hard to quit, all you gotta do is think about your beautiful baby being healthy and that's all that you need.
Avatar m tn If I were you I would stock up on a lot of gum with sugar and a lot of carrots. Drink plenty of water and exercise. If all else fails then get one of those nicotene inhalers or if you have the funds available to you go see a hypnotist. P.S. my room mate quit taking Chantix and is still smoking.
Avatar f tn I smoked with my 2nd pregnancy just to help with my morning sickness but my baby was fine. I continued to smoke after having her she is now 3 yrs old now I'm 17 weeks pregnant with my 3rd and I don't smoke anymore this pregnancy made me quit cold turkey because the smell of weed now makes me sick.
304970 tn?1331425994 And by the time I get past the sick part, the urge to smoke is gone. I wish I could be of more help. The best thing I can tell you is to just remember why you're quitting. I just think of it like I am making my baby smoke and possibly hurting him/her by what I am doing. And it can lead to miscarriage also. I know that doesn't help with the craving and it's hard for others to understand unless they have fought that addiction or an addiction of any kind.
Avatar f tn If you had morning sickness and can't eat as much as you need they will give you an RX for zofran or the generic equivalent. Of you can't stop smoking weed for the sake of your child it leaves me wondering if are ready for the responsibility of raising a child. This is just the first of many many sacrifices that you will make for you child for at least the next 20 years of you life. You a mother now.
Avatar f tn I am in week 10 of takeing the triple treatment Pegasys interferon and Ribavarin and Victrellis last check I cleared the virus yay me. problem I am having besides I cant text worth a crap bare with me.. is I have gained 30 lbs ya I cant believe it either... being I am super sick from the side effects. I did however quit smoking cigs after a 21 yr habit of a pack a day.
Avatar f tn Agh i read an article on this (it was on bith tobacco and marijuana i believe) a while back, but i'm not 100% on what it said. I do believe i read that the baby gets affected by the drugs (some components get in the milk), but no severe long term effects and no addiction. The point was that breast milk even in this situation is better than no breast milk (benefits are higher), but the milk of non-smokers will be healthier.
Avatar f tn Miley, I am very proud of you for.cutting back. Smoking, for those of you who don't know, is actually harder to quit than heroin. Yes it can cause complications, but unfortunately, as with cancer, and most other diseases and health problems, they don't discriminate. You could go your whole pregnancy and do everything perfect and still lose your child. That being said, shame on those of you who were lecturing.
Avatar m tn You are not going to do permanent damage to your brain from a couple nights of drinking and smoking pot. I don't mean to encourage doing things that have some risk of creating dependency, but the actions of cannabis are temporary-- as are most of the effects of alcohol-- provided you aren't drinking to the point of alcohol toxicity (for example, drinking so much that you pass out, repeatedly).
Avatar f tn s run by a psychologist, and there is a lot of self-training (so you can do sort of like a series of phrases yourself when at home when you have a craving). Maybe you could find something like that. I've also heard of a little device that you wear on your wrist and whenever you think of a ciggy you push the button and it gives you a little shock. In other words, it begins to train you to think negatively of cigs. You might look into that.
Avatar m tn Marijuana can cause panic attacks in some people. Mainly in people who have been smoking for a long time, however, I suffered panic attacks after only 4 months of smoking. Marijuana stimulates the pleasure cells in your brain. If you wan't a scientific answer do a web search. Personally, marijuana affects on me were : increased taste, increased hunger, increased sense of hearing, increased sexual pleasure, increased interest in simple or mundane activities, increased paranoia, and sedation.
Avatar f tn Look up some articles if you want to know the effects of smoking. You don't want to put anything into your body tat isn't good for either of you while you are pregnant. I don't know of any doctors who would encouraged you to continue smoking unless you are stressing out more from not smoking.
Avatar m tn The best way to realise the effects of smoking is to get a volunteer who has never smoked to have a cigarette. Ask them how they feel. Apart from the arteries, the Alveoli in the lungs (where oxygen exchange takes place) are inflamed and filled with nasty substances. Smoking reduces the amount of oxygen in the blood. I'm not preaching here, I used to have the habit.
Avatar f tn Google how smoking effects your baby. One was it increases the risk of sids (sudden infant death syndrome). That alone should be enough for someone to quit but a lot of moms turn a blind eye to the negative side effects. Best of luck quitting! !!
Avatar f tn I was wondering if smoking weed while pregnant could have any effect on the baby? & what kind of effects if there are any. I myself am not pregnant, but one of my best friend's is and she is saying that there would be no harm done to the baby.
