Common Questions and Answers about Effects of smoking at a young age

smoking

Avatar m tn A rate of 36 sleeping isn't unheard of in some who exercises regularly but it all depends on a person's tolerance level. Some people are affected by the slower rate while others are just fine. It's hard to say for sure but your light headedness and dizziness could be related to the palpitations as opposed to the slow rate. The palpitations could be related to premature beats which can make the heart feel like it is jumpy.
1571737 tn?1295772392 I have known people who smoke until they are 80 but with the meth-colleen function test I had to do I only got through 2 of the 5 test vials and the results were copd and lungs of a 55 year old. I have a nebulyzer and use it often. Luckily my oxygens have continued staying high but I feel like I work hard for it! Possible med mj alternatives would help with your reasons to have to smoke it.
Avatar m tn A puff here, a puff there. Guess what? The 16yr old is smoking a pack a day, sneaking out at 2am because they need a smoke in the middle of the night, and again when they wake up. Really sad how that happened. I bet they never saw that coming. But this 16 year old boy claims that he loves it and freaks out if he can't smoke for a few hours. Total addiction at this point. What does the first time smoking feel like? Thanks. And any tips to make the child stop smoking... Family member.
Avatar n tn After I was diagnosed, since I am a very curious and depression-prone person I did do a lot of reading and research into the effects of cigarettes...just try to do that....look into online demonstrations of what cigarette does to your alveolis...how tar may lead to permanent scarring, not to mention the effects on your blood vessels and heart... I think the education about non-smoking(everybody thinks it is over the top) is still not enough...
Avatar f tn Why is it that so many people tend to judge being pregnant at a young age, regardless of the situation? I'm 19, and it seems like I get so many dirty looks, and even comments about being pregnant so young.
Avatar n tn Oh golly...... I'll try to shut my big BIIIIIG mouth on this one and just say something as nice as I can.... Not too late to continue with your pregnancy... (miracles happen), go see a REAL doctor to check you and, most importantly, the baby. STOP your abusing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and YES, you can do it. People make all kinds of excuses to stop smoking... it's a matter of you wanting.
Avatar m tn May I ask a personal question.. Do you watch a lot of pornography? It can cause a man to have a difficult time getting an erection or having an orgasm. Smoking can cause issues as well, but you are still pretty young. If you don't watch a lot of porn then I would suggest you get checked out by your family doctor.. Hope this problem gets resolved soon!
Avatar n tn I am 20 years old and for the last year and a half I have had trouble getting and maintaining erections. I remember the first time it had happened I was with my then-girlfriend and we were about to have sex in the morning and it wouldn't get up. I thought it must might have been because I was tired from having sex all night beforehand but as our relationship progressed I had more trouble getting the same erections that I had been used to and maintaining them.
Avatar m tn Hello, I am 16 years of age and I smoke marijuana every single schoolnight, and on weekends. I started smoking about 3 years ago, and have been smoking almost every day for a year and a half. What could be possible negative effects, is what I am wondering. It does not effect my work ethic, Ive gotten one C on a report card in two years. I love skateboarding, and stay active doing this every day that is possible. And I absolutely love to smoke weed, by myself, every night.
Avatar n tn I am a 32-year-old female. i have never considered myself a full-fledged smoker as I only smoke socially and never regularly, so I have never consistently disclosed my cigarette smoking history to my treating physicians. I have recently (within the past couple of weeks) decided to quit for good after getting a good scare about the reality that I've been smoking for about fifteen years. I went to my pcp today due to a second bought with shortness of breath in a month.
Avatar f tn t know it was wrong. My point is, regardless of age, the feelings of pleasure and release are the same, and a smart kid would unfortunately get the association between fondling and the feeling. If I were you, I would punish him, not harshly, but just so that he knows that what he is doing is wrong and every time he'd think of it, he'd associate it with the feelings he felt when you punished him, instead of feelings of pleasure.
Avatar f tn have your thyroid levels checked.....
Avatar f tn I have a close friend who has been addicted to marijuana for a long time, she also smoked during her pregnancy and no they did not test her for it when she gave birth. I don't know much on the effects of marijuana use during pregnancy but I strongly suggest that you look into that for the benefit of the baby. I know that she breastfed for quite a while, continuing to pass the drug onto her child. Our sons are the same age and have been friends since infancy.
Avatar n tn The most common reasons we see people getting shingles at a young age is that they got chicken pox at less than the age of 1. That means that the immunity they build to varicella zoster virus just isn't as good and wanes earlier. If you are generally healthy and your HIV test is negative (which I would have recommended), that's all good.
Avatar f tn Smoking is a drug because its nicotene and its not ok to smoke but doc say if ur a heavy smoker to not quit cold turkey because of chance child will have withdrawal issues
Avatar f tn While I have a history of being a bit of a hypochondriac and overthinking things, I still do not think I am too young. I want to go to the doctor but don't want to if it's really nothing. I am starting to think that maybe smoking pot has the same side affects as cigarettes as far as BCPs are concerned. Thanks for reading sorry this is so long!! Any advice would be appreciated as I am pretty worried!
Avatar n tn I recommend checking out the website "Save Our Bones". It is an alternative to using bisphosphonates (Fosamax, Boniva, Actonel, et al) These drugs interrupt the remodeling of bones by adding a "sheath" or layer of hardening to the outside of the bones in an effort to prevent bone "loss". Bones remodel (replace) naturally every few years. One of the problems with bones is our diets are often highly acidic by processed foods.
Avatar f tn If you stop smoking, that's the best thing you can do. You are young, you've only smoked a couple of cigarettes and you can reverse the effects if you quit. Good for you for being concerned about it! Be tough and stop smoking now!
Avatar m tn ve never picked up smoking as I know better than most people how bad it is for you. I was depressed for a period in which I smoked. I smoked for a total of close to a year but not a pack everyday. A pack could last me 3 days. I started a little after my 20th birthday and stopped at 21. I'll never pick up another cigarette as long as I live i'm just worried about long term possible irreversable damage. Some help would be very reassuring. The depressive issues have resolved.
Avatar m tn I strongly suggest that before you start taking yohimbe you schedule a visit with your doctor. Yohimbe has several potential negative side effects. I also wonder about the long term use of Viagra and Cialis, since you started with them at a fairly young age. If you haven't had a checkup for over a year, start out with that for an overall health assessment. You can mention your erection situation at that time or then see a urologist.
Avatar f tn m looking for some advice, I went to a cardiologist about a month ago for fluttering of my heart. They did a stress test and a holster monitor. The holster monitor showed one run of SVT and 800 PAC's which my doctor didn't seem worried about. The stress test wasn't great but not bad. I hit 198 beats after 10 minutes while running. I couldn't afford the echo at the time so I didn't do that but I wish I had.
192055 tn?1263555537 Not having a mother and a father that couldnt look at me for a very long because I looked like her has damaged alot in my life and I have made many mistakes due to this I believe. I decided to move forward and feel blessed that I have my own family and that I pray that my daughters will have me in their lives for a very long time.
Avatar m tn Hey, no, your penile arteries are not damaged from hypertension or smoking. It may of course happen (at age 50+), but if it did, you would have lots of other symptoms as well, such as leg pain when walking, chest pain during exercise, etc. Narrowing of arteries affect all arteries, not just the penile artery. This is good, because a simple test may make you rule this out. A carotid ultrasound.
1039578 tn?1293978096 If you smoke 2 packs a day your risk for lung cancer increases manyfold. If he was 32 y.o. and started at, say age 16, that would be equivalent of someone smoking 1 pack a day for 32 years. And probably worse, since the injury is higher for someone who smokes 2 packs a day. As to marinol there are other ways to treat side effects that perhaps you can explore. There are alot of good recommendations on this site for the most common sides.
