How safe is 200 milligrams of seroquel while pregnant and nursing? Also, is it dangerous to cut the pills in half to take a lesser dose? Or should you cut or break the pills at all?

I have multiple sclerosis, depression, and a sleep problem. My ms meds[baclofen/tizanidine] and 300mg of seroquel gave me a memory loss big-time!!!. The ER cut all my meds in half[dc'd the tizan]. I never want to go that high again. I couldn't remember my grandchildren!!! I did get withdrawals from it.[Was jumpy/agitated/anxious]for several days. I'm on 150mg now. My dreams at night are vivid, and it's like being in a reality show!

I immediately started to gain weight. And stopped the Seroquel immediately (mid Dec). I know this is one of the side effects. I gained about 5lbs. Being 5'9" and weighing 135, I felt the 5 extra pounds would come off with eating better and a few more yoga classes . But the weight kept coming. I got down to a dietary intake of about 1000 cals. But that mad no difference.

My Doctor just switch my medication from 150 mg of Effexor XR to 400 mg of Seroquel XR. I dropped my dosage of Effexor gradually but I still experienced terrible withdrawl. Now I am experiencing bad side effects, " I'm guessing ths", from the Seroquel. I have gained weight in my stomach area very rapidly, I have pain and stiffness in my legs, 24 hour dry mouth and sinuses and I feel like I could cry at the drop of a hat.

My daughter-in-law takes a variety of prescribed psychoactive drugs and she is now 2 months pregnant. In particular she takes 400mg of seroquel nightly, 500mg if she has more trouble sleeping. Am I wrong to be horrified?

I believe that means it is possible for it to have negative effects on the pregnancy. I was also on hydroxizine and seroquel. I stopped taking mine over a month ago as we had decided to try for one more baby and I was afraid of the possible effects. I have 3 kids but wasn't on any of these meds before or during those pregnancies. Not only that but seroquel can prevent pregnancy. I'd definitely talk with your Dr's about it ASAP. Same thing happened to me a few times after taking the drug for seemingly no reason - limbs stopped moving soo sedated couldn't even speak and at the same time heartbeat went through the roof. Scary. However it hasn't happened for a few months now and I seem to have got used to it - perhaps the doc has started you on too high of a dose?. I'm on 500mg. These kinds of side effects are exacerbated by alcohol especially.

My main worry is if it could be Tardives dyskinesia or beneign essential blepharospasm due to the use of Seroquel for 10 days with other meds. How great is the risk of taking it for 10 days? I think the dosage was 25 - 50 mg. a day. Would it be likely to show up this long after using it? I have been tapering off the Vistaril and Trazadone the past 2-3 weeks. Also, I know that lack of sleep, stress & anxiety, & fibromyalgia also can cause muscle twitching.

I am not liking the side effects on seroquel. So I am now going on Trazadone? I am addicted to benzos, so I can't take them. Does anyone know anything about trazadone for sleep/anxiety?

Well, if that is the case, I'd say your son is way over medicated. I have a problem with doctors prescribing anti-psychotics to people with OCD. I've never taken them, but I know some folks that have and they just moped around like zombies. (The "cure" was worse than the disease in my opinion) Then on top of that I see your son is taking one of the old tricyclic anti-depressants (imipramine) and Clonozapam, so I'm not surprised he's weak or tired.

It should have come with written side effects, if not, I would question the validity of not only the medication but where you bought it. I assume and hope a doctor prescribed this for you, and he is your best resource for this information. You need a list of side effects either from the doctor or the manufacturer.

I had tachycardia from Seroquel at higher doses and I told my psychiatrist at the time and he said it was not of concern (in me) but its important to report any side effects to your psychiatrist of any kind. I do know that for me Seroquel did not work until it reached 300 mg. and I believe that is the lowest effective dose but you could ask your psychiatrist about that.

Weight gain, a change in metabolism and the potential of diabetes can occur with all atypical antipsychotics, Abilify Fanapt and Saphris having the least of that potential. Sometimes a change in diet can be helpful but it is a concern.

I used to take regular Seroquel with no sexual side effects. I was recently changed to Seroquel XR and the side effects are so different than regular Seroquel, and one of them is sexual side effects. Anyone else? The other new med I am on is Amitiza, which is for Irritable Bowel Syndrome and didn't have sexual side effects listed. I have been under a lot of new stress lately, but that has never caused this problem in the past.

Seroquel is one of the 'atypical antipsychotics' that came out about ten years ago. They were first used for serious mental illness like schizophrenia, and then for bipolar disorder, and then for the thing we 'call' bipolar in children, that really isn't bipolar disorder.

Also the side effects of weight gain and some other negative side effects are the reason I would love to get off of it. If anyone knows of any medications instead of seroquel that might work.....

Now with all these, can I attribute them to the drug or just getting off naturals? Oh also I am scared. I used to be years ago, wake up thinking something was in the room sort of thing. Anyone been here, done this?
