effects of methadone on the body

Is it possible that beingON the methdone actually was causing my body to run in a way that my thyroid would mess up, and that after quitting methadone the thyroid gland could actually function again normally without themedicine? Or am I stuck on medication for thyroid for the rest ofmy life? Id get a blood test to put this whole issue to rest, but im unemployed atm and dont anticipate being able to get the test for at LEAST another few months...

i am on 95mg of methadone and am now perscribed soma 350mg what are the side effects

i told my husband i honestly rather be dealing with the fatigue and blahness of the methadone WDs than take any more of that Sub. it did help me get through when i felt like i was going to die, but at this point i honestly think i would rather suffer through it than feel that Suboxone headache and mood swing. also, i thought it would help me sleep better but it did not, and today although i am not feeling sick my mood is worse than before i took the Sub. so that is my verdict on the Sub.

HI welcome to the world of methadone they dont tell you about im sorry hun about all you can do is get off the stuff to get rid of the side effects I was on it for 6 1/2 yr and lived in a sexless marriage it s u c ked I know of nothing that can fix your problem other then getting off the stuff if you need help with that I can help good luck and God bless........

i went off of them in july and the pain got worse and the worse the pain got the worse the cravings got. so my doctor put me on methadone at a low dose to see if it would help with the pain. the good thing is it doesn't make me high or euphoric like lortab did and it has totally stopped my cravings. i don't know how long i will stay on it, i'm taking it one day at a time. i have heard that it is hard to get off of but can be better if you wean your self off at a slow pace.

The muscles in my bicep, tricep and forearm would tense. The arm would clench, the music would stop and POP, the arm would fly up and out, as if trying to right hook an opponent who wasn't there. Every 60 seconds for two hours -- until just before 3:45 -- I'd swing away into the dark. Until the left arm got in on it. By 7:30 in the morning, I wasn't a championship boxer, I was a retarded pigeon with defective wings.

Some of you will remember me, I was on methadone for a long time and came off in the middle of March with no problems. I have not had any cravings to go back on methadone but I have had HUGE problems since coming off and as I sit here today I am still very sick. You see while I was on methadone I was on a few other meds, oxycodone for 3 years but only at 20mgs/day and never ever raised that dose. So then I decided I wanted off the oxycodone and it was BRUTAL!

i recently just stopped again,as for some time now i have been having a weard pain in the center of my body just below the ribline,that extends into my back,,,,i had lots of tests,but nothing showed up with my gullbladder or pancreas,,then i met back up with an old friend of mine,,well,he went from about 200 lbs solid to 135 pounds skin and bones!!! i asked him what the hell was wrong with him,and he told me he developed chronic pancreatitis from the drinking we use to do.

Methadone is not something I would want my baby addicted to outside of the womb. That will be weeks a weaning that little tiny body off of that stuff. My sister was on methadone and she would sweat and begin to feel ill every day at the same time it was time for her to dose. She said the withdrawals from that stuff was so bad she will never go back. She thought she was going to die. No way can I imagine putting a new born through that. I don't think it would go well.

hang in there. i know all of the advice may be redudant but i'm on day 12 of methadone wd and i'm alive. i don't know why i'm alive but i think i made it through the worst. klonopin is helping. my jump was from a 3 year opiate addiction. I went cold turkey from 270mg of methadone. hell does not describe the week i've endured. please, give yourself strength and courage. by admitting your faults you can overcome this horrible affliction. good luck and i'll pray for you.

I take Suboxene and can actually say for once in my life I havent had but very minor pain and only here and there,,,with 0 side effects. Sub also last in the body for a real long time due to the long half life and the withdrawal is lesser than the majority opiates out there (proved by studies and by testimonials) you also have your few who hate it and have had horrible withdrawals. Talk to your doc about the array of drugs that are on the market and see what his opinion may be.

I gaine 100 pounds and lost it all within 5 months of getting off the methadone. And I too was on it for 2 years. Methadone is evil and if you ever want your figure back...get off it.

I know it was a lot and he was on it for at least 1-2 years. His family tried to talk him out of the methadone but he visited the clinic and of course they shared many "success stories" so he is convinced that it is a good decision...I hope it is. I believe the 30mg is the high point because he is on a program to taper his doses. Of course I am not 100% sure on this but I will ask him. As I said, I'm really worried about the extremely anxious behavior that I am seeing.

I wasn't on methadone but i was on a high dose of hydr for 8 yrs & what helped me detox a little easier was taking a multi vitamin, magnesium, B12, lots of fluids, Imodium & exercise, even if it's just short walks up & down ur driveway or around the house. Can someone with Hep-c be treated if there have stage 2-inflammation and stage 4 cirrhosis with the Genotype 2.

Do I have any recourse of the initial Dr who put me on the methadone w/o telling me more about the terrible affects, and 2nd what does anyone suggest about getting at least somewhat off the hard drugs. Honestly, I don't think my broken body can get totally off everythng buy I can handle most pain. I just want a normal life doing the things w/ my kids I always dreamed. I know this was a VERY long post and I would appreciate any input.

What you are experiencing from missing your dose is very normal...I was on methadone for almost 2 years.I went c/t off of 25 mgs and I'm coming up on 10 months clean.If I can help you out in any way please fell free to shoot me a pm anytime.All the best...

I tried that not long ago but was unable to tolerate the ibuprofen and NSAID drugs due to a hiatal hernia, reflux, and stomach bleeding I am trying the Mobic for pain while withdrawing from the methadone which is a ibuprofen drug, once again the Dr. didn't listen to me or read my medical history of having blood clots in my legs and that I have Hep C.

are these the side effects of someone on methadone????cause i dont understand how i can be so talkative in the past and have such a strong personilty.. then turn into a zombie with no emotions, is this what happens after taking the pill for a while.. as i said im a 26 beautiful women.( i dont feel that way but i have men talking to me constantly,) get compliments daily.
