Common Questions and Answers about Eczema vs herpes

eczema

Avatar m tn i have the herpes virus in my eczema, i was wondering if you could tell me what is the best things to use other than my medication ?
Avatar n tn Acyclovir is sometimes used to treat eczema herpeticum, which is a skin infection caused by the herpes virus, to treat and prevent herpes infections of the skin. People who suffer from this disorder should avoid contact with triggering factors like soaps, cosmetics, jewelry, clothing, and detergents. Sometimes sweat, changes in temperature and psychological stress are known to trigger these episodes.
Avatar f tn Are eczema sufferers very likely to get eczema herpeticum if exposed to the herpes virus or is it still rare?
Avatar f tn Hello, Eczema does not lead to herpes and is not contageous while herpes is. Herpes is a virus and it spreads by contact. The contact can be due to physical contact or sexual etc. These are common ways of infection: 1] By kissing someone if u have cold, or sore throat 2] Through vaginal or anal intercourse or oral intercourse 3} during pregnancy by mother to baby at birth 5} touching the sore infected outbreak like fingers, eyes etc can also possibly pass virus.
662556 tn?1255026174 Welcome to the forum. Sorry you're having trouble coping with your herpes. From what you say, I believe both your HSV-1 and 2 infections are mostly asymptomatic. The majority of symptoms you describe are not suggestive of herpes outbreaks. Except in people with certain severe medical conditions -- serious immunodeficiency, sever eczema -- herpes is never "spread across [the] face and other parts of [the] body".
Avatar n tn Although it can be confused with it by some. If it's eczema, and it's "all over your body" then doesn't really sound like it's herpes. And Eczema is not herpes! Have you been looked at by a doctor? The lymph nodes and gums you'll have to get checked out by a doctor also.
Avatar f tn My new boyfriend has genital herpes and has been symptom free for 2 years (Carriers can transmit the disease without having any symptoms of an active infection). He also has eczema on both his inner thighs (a few inches below his genitalia). The eczema sites appear red and irritated though I am unaware of any discharge from them. My question is, even if we use a condom, could the genital herpes be spread through his eczema??? I'm panicked by the horrific genital herpes pictures!!! Help!

Avatar m tn Thank you. But that doesn't mean that if someone has herpes AND eczema they are in big trouble, does it? I haven't had any of those problems, just a HUGE flareup on both legs from bottom of briefline to knees I couldn't explain. Nothing else. I was able to work. It faded after four or five days (8-9 weeks ago) but now my hands are red, forearms look like they brushed against fiberglass and the psoriasis around my genitals is redder than normal.
Avatar f tn I'd guess eczema. It's possible to get hsv1 on your nipples, but it's not at all common. Peeling skin is more likely to be fungal or eczema than herpes, but you should let your doctor check it out if it isn't common for your eczema. I'd be surprised if it's herpes. Did she say what caused her cut?
Avatar n tn I'm 28F. In hosp for 2 weeks- tests, catscans, xrays, bloodwork, ultrasound, etc. Mono came back + (had mono when 16, & had it again). Also had strange little blisters- couple on one shoulder blade, sev on my lip, sev on my hand, & one on bottom big toe. Mentioned chicken pox, limes disease, hand-foot-&-mouth disease, herpes, etc. Put me on acyclovir in the hosp & was taking it up until 2 weeks ago. Since being out of the hosp, have only had the blisters reoccur on hands...
Avatar f tn They are located on both sides of my groin / vulva area at the same time. They are not in clusters but there is more than one on each side. Wondering if this may be herpes? Or another Std ? Or something else?
Avatar n tn Hello, Yes there are chances of you passing herpes to your girlfriend not because of the skin condition like eczema but because herpes is a very contagious disease and it can be passed during intercourse in any form. Herpes simplex is most easily transmitted by direct contact with a lesion or the body fluid of an infected individual. Transmission may also occur through skin-to-skin contact during periods of asymptomatic shedding. Hope it helps.
Avatar f tn also herpes and eczema is almost always hsv1 related from oral herpes and eczema, not from genital herpes and eczema. no worries there from your child having genital herpes!!
Avatar m tn WHy does this sound like eczema and not herpes? What would it be like if it was herpes? Can you have eczema just in that area and it just started this year? Thanks.
Avatar f tn The eczema isn't transmitted sexually, but your cold sore could be. That's herpes simplex type 1, and you can transmit that to your boyfriend's penis, giving him genital herpes type 1. If he already has hsv1, then you don't need to worry about it. Lots of people have it and don't know they do, so he can ask his doctor for a type specific IgG blood test to find out.
Avatar n tn in my genital area but yet i get tenderness in my genital area hotter than useale urin i wouldnt call it burning but just hot urin, muscle ahches but no fever or flu like symptoms so is it that i have herpes and eczema? or is it just one of the 2 causeing the issue ?
Avatar m tn I dont have such a problem and I know it is rare but my father actually works as an allergist and might be exposed to patients with eczema herpeticum when they come to find out about the allergies which is causing their eczema. The thought of him getting something like herpes whitlow has been stressing me out! So my question is as below: i) I know that eczema herpeticum is rare and I have searched all over the intenet to know how many of the population are affected by it?
Avatar n tn Epaderm is a simple emollient which is used for eczema and you can use it after getting the diagnosis confirmed as eczema. Eczema is a form of chronic dermatitis (rash).Allergic reaction is one of the important causes of eczema. Allergic reaction can occur to strong soaps, Solvents, chemicals, certain foods, food additives, plants, metals, cosmetics, even urine and faeces of some animals (dust mites). Wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites.
