Eczema vs cradle cap

Common Questions and Answers about Eczema vs cradle cap

eczema

Avatar f tn This is a Q for mommy's who already have a LO. My 2 month old has cradle cap, which in my opinion has gotten bad. It is yellow & scaly. I have used baby oil & tried brushing the scales off but it is not working well. It has gotten rid of a lot of it but not all & i have done it multiple days. It seems to be irritating her head too. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn I didn't know it was cradle cap at first thought of all kinds of skins things like eczema I'm going too try the oil
5739386 tn?1378836460 Did she mean cradle cap? It's the rash on their scalp. It usually goes away by itself, my little brother had it wheb he was a baby.
Avatar f tn Anyways now I just realized she has cradle cap! in her eyebrows and ears (and just a liiiittle in her head, like on the front of it). Does anyone knows how to get rid of those yellow crusty thingies? Oh and shes getting more of those skin colored pimple thingies in her legs and arms too (they aren't red though , just skin colored). Do you girls know what this is? is it still considered a newborn rash if its on the legs and arms? (not on the torso though) I'm unhappy, my poor baby!
Avatar f tn Yeah I have...my oldest daughter has eczema too. My doctor told me my 2 month old just has cradle cap but an extreme case. It seems like eczema though... the soaps don't seem to bother her much it's just the lotion.
705807 tn?1300751246 Anyone else's babies have cradle cap? My son is 6 weeks and has had it for a week. It's pretty gross looking.
Avatar n tn I would consider seeing a new doc. It also doesn't sound like eczema to me, but I am NOT a medical professional. It sounds a bit more like the "cradle cap" my kids got when they were babies. It also caused their hair to fall out where the lesions appear.
338963 tn?1253660822 The crusty stuff on his head sounds like cradle cap. My son had that and I would but aquaphor on it and let it soften up a bit then I would VERY GENTLY comb it out. The pimples on his face are likely baby acne, not eczema.
Avatar n tn They used to use it as a moisturizer for baby's skin and if your baby develops cradle cap it makes it easier to comb out the flakes. It's not as popular now bc there are tons of lotions that are safer. The oil isn't unsafe to use but when baby reaches toddler stage it can look like something to drink and some toddlers have died bc it's gotten into their lungs coating them and basically they drown without ever being in water.
Avatar f tn Google essential oils for cradle cap. I forget what I used ( 3 years ago ) but it worked very well and fast!
Avatar f tn Hi ladies my first baby is 6weeks old now and has cradle cap. I was so worried I had done something wrong but thankfully that isn't the case as I didn't know anything about it so I did some research. My question is how can I get rid of it? Its not affecting him but it just looks bad to look at. I bought a cream called dermcrem for dermatitis and nappy rash and I think its improving it a bit but what else can I try?
2026902 tn?1369098398 My daughter is a little over 5 months and has cradle cap. Anyone know any tricks on helping it go away?
4251679 tn?1370305531 My son had cradle cap in the same place and in his hair line his pediatrician told me to use selsun blue, I know sounds weird but it worked! Just put a little bit across her eyebrows and then wipe off with a warm wash cloth..
Avatar f tn My baby still has cradle cap it keeps coming back I need it to be gone good it becoming a pain any suggestions????
797375 tn?1256231262 My Bailey has what looks like cradle cap. I had him at the vet last month. She gave him antibotics, doggie benydrl, and Sebozole (miconazole nitrate 2% chloroxylenol 1% ) to shampoo him in twice a week. And she also did a fungial test and it came back negative. I did everything she told me too and he is not getting better if anything it's worse. I have changed his food and treats (this week), his shampoo. I really can't afford another 110.00 vet bill with more meds.
Avatar f tn Hello, I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be cradle cap, contact dermatitis or eczema.Exactly what it is can be confirmed after dermatologist’s evaluation and treatment is diagnosis specific for an infant. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or in case you have any additional doubts.Kind regards.
Avatar f tn Lol cradle cap has nothing to do with the hair not being rinsed off enough. It's basically really dry scalp and it develops thick dandruff that covers the scalp. And sum ppl use baby oil to remove it from my experience olive oil works better on cradle cap.
435139 tn?1255460391 They work perfectly fine, also the baby oil comes in handy with cradle cap. The dry flakey skin on the babies head, put it on 30 minutes prior to bath time, and brush it through the hair to bring up the flakes. I've never used the powder. I have used the lotion, but I use eucerin cream lotion since my daughter has a couple patches of exzema. It's a complete moisturizer that works perfectly.
Avatar f tn I always washed my babys hair since her first bath and she never had cradle cap I just did it with a soapy wash cloth
8628831 tn?1407267564 Baby oil is for a small amount to use on baby's hair to prevent cradle cap and to add moisture. rub a little bit of baby oil in your hands then apply to babies hair. Brush it daily. Use once every two weeks.
Avatar f tn hi my name is raksha i have one son and he is 3 months old. he is having cradle cap on his head. he is having one small on his front head which is hard.please help me by letting me know what it could be.
Avatar f tn My 12 year old little brother has really extensive cradle cap. He has no health insurance and I need recommendations on anything I can do for him. Will conofite lotion 1% possibly help? And or Chlorhexidine scrub used as a shampoo, could that work? What can I do I'm desperate!
Avatar f tn Our five year old son still has a patch of what is commonly known as cradle cap on infants. For years we have used an over the counter cradle cap remedy, baby oil, and/or moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. We have picked it off and gotten rid of it and then it comes right back. It is not noticeable under his hair and it doesn't bother him. He does not scratch at it or notice it at all. Having large flakes in his hair is really just a nuisance.
Avatar n tn I tried an OTC anti-fungal cream for two applications 12 hours apart with no real improvement. She also has a small to moderately sized area of cradle cap on her scalp. The cradle cap has been present off/on since infancy. I plan on trying an OTC dandruff shampoo to see if that will help. Can both the facial rash and flared up cradle cap be related? Is there other OTC options for treatment or should I bite the bullet and schedule an appointment with a dermatologist?
