Common Questions and Answers about Eczema triggers

eczema

1731952 tn?1310179875 I have really great, smooth skin with one exception; I have patches of eczema that keep growing. I know I'm not supposed to scratch but sometimes its excruciating. I am currently on a steroid cream (triamcinalone) to clear it up and it does, but is there anything I can do to prevent future flair ups?
Avatar n tn Please discuss these options with your dermatologist and also consult an allergist to find out the triggers to which you may be allergic. Then avoiding these triggers can prevent flare ups. I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted in case you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
Avatar m tn Medical research shows that the most effective treatment plan for eczema involves using a combination of therapies to treat the skin and making lifestyle changes(prevention of triggers and application of lots of moisturizers) to control flare-ups. If the eczema is more severe, phototherapy (a type of treatment that uses light therapy) or systemic (circulates throughout the body) medication like oral steroids may be prescribed.
Avatar n tn Medical research shows that the most effective treatment plan for eczema involves using a combination of therapies to treat the skin and making lifestyle changes(prevention of triggers and application of lots of moisturizers) to control flare-ups. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid which are available by prescription. Eczema can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin.
Avatar m tn it appears to be an "eczema" disease. i'v been experiencing it for 2 years and it spreaded from my middle, to the 2nd, 4th and now the 1st finger (only right hand). So the finger's skin made a cycle, where it peeled, and then it grows the newer one but its thick and theres no fingrprint in it, then it goes back to peeling and again. (But in a small area).
Avatar n tn Approxiamtely 4 months ago I was diagnosed with Eczema on the face. I was given daktacort hydrocortisine to manage the flare-ups which has controlled the eczema. However after using the cream for about 3 months I began to develop an area of redness on one side of my nose which goes across my cheek bone. It seems to be very sensitive to the sun, after I wash my face and in certain environments. Grateful for your advice.
Avatar n tn If there are any known and identifiable triggers , avoiding these triggers will be necessary. However, this is easier said than done. You may ask your primary physician if a referral to a rheumatologist or allergologist/immunologist may be indicated.
Avatar m tn Could this possibly be eczema? It seems pretty common and the symptoms seem to match but my irritants dont look NEAR as bad as the ones I've found on the web.
Avatar n tn My child has worsening itching, dryness and redness around her inner knees and elbows, with additional patches around her thighs, armpits and neck areas due to her eczema. I put moisturizers (aveeno) and hydrocortisone, but it just doesn't work. I have seen my friend's kid use prescription steriod ointments (i.e.desonide) and it seems to help, but what are the long term side effects?
Avatar n tn hi i am a 19yo male, and i have eczema and recently, eczema has developed on de underside of my scrotum, may i know is the fucicort cream safe to apply on my scrotum?
Avatar f tn My kids and myself suffer from eczema. Weve tried hydrocortisone all the lotions nothing helps. What else can we do?
1014914 tn?1251084646 I've had eczema appear as a small patch on both arms for as long as I can remember and only appear during the winter months it seems like. Only within the past year has the eczema spread throughout my arms, hands, shoulders, and neck. My internist perscribed Triamcinolon which works great everywhere but my hands. For the hands he prescribed Clobetasol which does work. I've noticed that if I don't use the ointment, the eczema will totally reappear after just one or two days.
Avatar n tn It started out as flesh colored bumps and it itched. The bumps became very red and the itch got worse. I have both eczema and severe allergies. The rash is just along the right side of my face along the jaw line. It has not spread, and no one else has caught it from me. I went to my physician and he said to use 1% hydrocodozone cream twice a day. It went away briefly and then came back. Now the cream is not helping at all.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with eczema as a teenager. I am in my 40s now. Until a couple of years ago, I was always able to handle the eczema instantly with a steroid-based cream. Lately, the creams don't seem as effective. I went to a dermatologist, who gave me stronger steroid-based creams. They work, but only with dedicated use. I also have redness on my scrotum. The dermatologist said this was also eczema. The creams eventually work there, but it's quite a struggle.
Avatar n tn Doctors have take biopsies, and found no evidence of usual skin conditions. They have concluded that it is Eczema, due to a lack of evidence for other conditions. Eczema creams have no effect.
Avatar n tn I meant to put a question mark after dyshidrotic eczema...I dont know if thats what it is...doctors have always just said eczema...never specified a type..
Avatar f tn ve never been diagnosed with eczema but do have dry skin. Eczema and psoriasis can both itch. Hyperpigmentation can occur from our scratching. Were you told you might be prediabetic after a physical when they checked your lab work? Type 2 diabetes is preventable and you can do diet changes and exercise, weight control often to control it so it does not turn into the real deal. So, I'd work on that! There is something called Lichen Simplex Chronicus.
Avatar f tn Eczema can be pretty tricky to work with and a huge variety of things can set it off. As far as if it's leaky gut- I can't say. There are many medical professionals that don't believe that leaky guy is really a 'thing'- and others that thing it's being blamed for all kinds of medical issues that it has nothing to do with. It's important to try to identify your triggers- I eliminated all scents in the products I used. Fragrance free lotions, soaps, everything.
Avatar f tn Before my boyfriend and I were going out, he told me that he had Eczema. I didn't really care or anything until recently. It's a long distance relationship, so I flew out to see him. When things got a little steamy, he stopped me, and didn't want to specify why. The next day, same thing happened, but he told me that his Eczima was on his penis. I've tried researching it, but it's all a little confusing to me.
