Avatar m tn I would recommend that she see the dermatologist to try a different medication. My daughter has eczema of the finger tips (finger tips peel and get very sore but no itching, they can crack and bleed). Doctor's practice medicine, it is as much an art as it is a science. Frequently and with certain conditions, especially anything with an allergy tie, there is a lot of trial and error before the best treatment plan for the patient is found.
Avatar f tn I use Carmex healing cream for my eczema. It's works wonders. It's the only non prescription cream that works for me.
Avatar m tn But if it is chronic skin condition then it may take some time for treatment. Eczema is a form of chronic dermatitis (rash).Allergic reaction is one of the important causes of eczema. The type of medication prescribed will depend on many factors, including the type of eczema, past treatment, and the patient’s preference. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn Hello, In most cases of eczema no one treatment will be effective. Medical research shows that the most effective treatment plan for eczema involves using a combination of therapies to treat the skin and making lifestyle changes. This is probably the reason that the calendula oil is not working now. Topical (applied to the skin) medication like mild steroids(hydrocortisone)to higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide) is frequently prescribed.
Avatar f tn which is the typical ending for a steroid. Steroids creams are pretty standard treatment for eczema. I don't remember how many were tried on my daughter before we settled on her current treatment. Yours sounds more like an antibiotic cream. hmmm.... Well, if it works that is all that matters. Thanks for posting back. God bless.
Avatar n tn Hello, In most cases of eczema no one treatment will be effective. Medical research shows that the most effective treatment plan for eczema involves using a combination of therapies to treat the skin and making lifestyle changes(prevention of triggers and application of lots of moisturizers) to control flare-ups. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid which are available by prescription.
Avatar n tn Elocon). My eczema is stubborn - it is constantly reappearing, causing me to use the Elocon far too often than I should be, but because it is so effective, I use it over and over. Is there something I can buy over the counter that actually works? My eczema is the kind that cracks, blisters, weeps, etc...it is not just red and irritated skin! Please help! There must be something out there that I can use with no long term negative effects!!!
Avatar f tn My son had it at well.

If the eczema is more severe, phototherapy (a type of treatment that uses light therapy) or systemic (circulates throughout the body) medication like oral steroids may be prescribed.
Avatar m tn Allergic reaction is one of the important causes of eczema. In most cases of eczema no one treatment will be effective. A combination of treatments should be used. Along with topical steroids, you should use good quality moisturizers on the area. Immunomodulators like tacrolimus and Pimecrolimus are not without side effects and should be used after a dermatologist’s prescription.

Medical research shows that the most effective treatment plan for eczema — regardless of type — involves using a combination of therapies to treat the skin and making lifestyle changes(prevention of triggers and application of lots of moisturizers) to control flare-ups. I suggest you to apply some moisturizers and apply topical steroids only after consulting a dermatologist.
371848 tn?1206207834 Sorry Your rash actually does sound like eczema. I believe it's called discoid eczema. Round coin sized red rashes that may or may not itch. definitely not cancer. Did he give you a prescription for cortisone. He should have also told you to get short cool showers and use body wash not soap. Then moisturize!!
Avatar m tn t have insurance) and she had supposedly diagnosed the problem as ringworm by looking at it, I finished my 2 weeks of an oral Terbinafine prescription, and during the last 2 days of the Terbinafine I started to get an itchy back, 2 sections of my lower back (on the right and left hand side) started to itch, I fought it and never scratched it and woke up today for the rash to be about 5x the size they were the previous evening.
937617 tn?1314212191 Sounds like Eczema to me. I've had Eczema my whole life. I read something about Pau D'Arco being used for Candidas, so I did a bit of research on it yesterday. I found out that it's supposed to treat Eczema and Psoriasis, too. Someone else told me about something called Nystatin. I haven't had a chance to research the Nystatin as of yet, and I won't be able to do so until much later today. These two things sounded like they might be worth trying for me.

Avatar m tn Yes I have this itchy scrotum. I'm on a medication that causes eczema. I can't stop taking the medication or else I won't have any place to live. The itching is in fact all over my body; but I learned that certain foods causes me to break out in hives in conjuction with the medication. The itching on my scrotum is forever constant. I've tried all kinds of anti-itch medication as well as 1% hydrocortizones. Nothing works on this itch. I mean no oils, lotions, body wash.

Avatar f tn Any discontinuation of medication should be discussed with a doctor.
Avatar f tn I've had a similar issue. Do you have eczema anywhere else on the body, like the scalp or hands or arms? It's possible you're starting to get eczema on and around your lips, like I have. In such a case, I have found that vaseline just isn't enough. Eczema is more than what some people think it is, as it is actually a form of skin autoimmune issue. For some people, it can actually get worse than what psoriasis sufferers get, if you can imagine.
Avatar n tn I was told not to use my prescription creams on my eczema. I use oatmeal soaks to ease the itching.
Avatar n tn s been going on for so long, you may need a prescription strength medication, and different fungal infections respond better to different meds, and eczema will need a different med than a fungal infection, so don't try to home treat without seeing a doc. Any urgent care doc should be able to help if you can't get checked by your regular doctor. Don't put it off any longer.
Avatar f tn What maight be the cause and how we could be treating for existing eczema. we are under homeoepathy and medical treatment now.
