1227049 tn?1267237385 Hello, Eczema is a form of chronic dermatitis (rash).Allergic reaction is one of the important causes of eczema. In most cases of eczema no one treatment will be effective. A combination of treatments should be used. Along with topical steroids, you should use good quality moisturizers on the area. Immunomodulators like tacrolimus and Pimecrolimus are not without side effects and should be used after a dermatologist’s prescription.

Avatar f tn Sounds like a type of eczema. Sometimes eczema is exasperated by one's diet, because eczema is affected by food sensitivities. Cold sore medications are ineffective if this is eczema. Eczema is also known as the itch that rashes, which is why the little bumps get worse if you pick at them. The usual consensus for foods to avoid when you have eczema are gluten and dairy. There are others, but these are the big ones. They definitely affect my eczema.

1014914 tn?1251084646 My question is, will I be applying ointments for the rest of my life or is there some sort of long term treatment or other medicine that can be had? If I have to apply ointments then so be it, but I would rather not have to every day!
Avatar n tn The symptoms described indicate eczema as a likely condition. Avatar n tn I've had the same thing on either side of my crotch for the past 4 years or so. I've had prescribed anti-fungal medicine with steroids for the thinness of the skin. Nothing i've used has made it go away, and all of the anti-itch medicine i've used no longer work. I would do almost anything right now to get rid of it, its a daily problem.

Avatar n tn I have had a rash on my feet for some months now, and now have a rash in my armpits. When I put on deodorant, the rash burns and seems to get more inflamed. I stopped using the deodorant, and tried applying anti-itch cream - this offered no improvement. I decided to go the doctor since the rash did not seem to improve. The rash is very red, itchy and round to irregular in shape. My doctor took a scratch sample and had trouble identifying the rash.
Avatar n tn I would recommend that he see an allergist that specializes in eczema. Eczema frequently has an allergic cause. Treat the underlying allergy and the eczema clears up. I know some people who have had success with Allergra and Zyrtec. My daughter only has eczema in the winter when she is not out side as much. This may also be related to a low vitamin D level. Has anyone checked his vitamin D level?
Avatar m tn My uncle recommended me putting a Ringworm medicine, The picture will be posted below. It works alright. It makes it dry and it'll peel off. The problem is, I'll scratch it at night. It's not exactly itchy but I just scratch it when I'm unconscious sleeping. I use to have the same thing on my finger and inner thigh but it's recovered. I went to a doctor before. I would like to know if the medicine I'm using is good enough and what exactly my skin infection is.
Avatar m tn I have tried topical anti-fungal ointments (Lamisil), as well as Miconazole spray a week prior, and did the full 4 week treatment as well as the full 2 week treatment orally for ringworm, and I am guessing by the looks of the rash on my arm being bigger now than it was before treatment that it was most likely not ringworm.
Avatar m tn It is highly contagious and is transmissible from daily household articles also and so they may also require the treatment. Avatar n tn I know this misery well. Once I went on my first elimination diet for the digestive issues, that's when I discovered the true source of my misery: GLUTEN and DAIRY. The two go hand-in-hand. Look up key words like "eczema diet" "what not to eat with eczema". Conventional doctors usually miss this. I stumbled upon it myself when looking into my other health issues.
Avatar m tn In most cases of eczema no one treatment will be effective. Medical research shows that the most effective treatment plan for eczema involves using a combination of therapies to treat the skin and making lifestyle changes(prevention of triggers and application of lots of moisturizers) to control flare-ups. If the eczema is more severe, phototherapy (a type of treatment that uses light therapy) or systemic (circulates throughout the body) medication like oral steroids may be prescribed.

Avatar m tn Can anyone recommend a LLD around Northern Virginia? I'm currently being seen by an infectious diseases doctor, but she is on the fence when it comes to treating Lymes. She doesn't believe in some of the treatments accepted by most LLDs. She is giving me Rosephin now, but will probably only give it to me for a total of 8 weeks. I'm also on Vancomiacin (sp) to treat an additional infection I got from the Picc line ( I read this is good for treating Lyme's as well??).
Avatar f tn What is the best treatment for vaginal Eczema. I have this for years now, it comes and goes. I use Calendula gel when I have symptoms, it seems to help but not completely. Burning sensation, etc. I had a biopsy done a few years ago and results came back (SPONGIOTIC DERMATITIS) which I been told is like ECZEMA. Can you please help or have any comments regarding this condition.
