1221025 tn?1266842580 In most cases of eczema no one treatment will be effective. Medical research shows that the most effective treatment plan for eczema involves using a combination of therapies to treat the skin and making lifestyle changes(prevention of triggers and application of lots of moisturizers) to control flare-ups. My sincere advice is to follow up the treatment that you have been prescribed by your dermatologists. Also keep your skin well moisturized as dryness of skin aggravates the condition.

For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid which are available by prescription.
437027 tn?1670266352 she was in a study 2 years ago and after the specialist continued treatment free of charge... she was given a cream to put on that has cured everything... she only has to use it a little during an outbreak and it goes away... FYI many kids grow out of it but it has a link with athsma and they say if you never let the outbreaks get really back it decreases the chance of athsma..

Treatment includes avoidance of the allergen, oral antihistaminics; topical application of corticosteroids. You may try application of calamine on the affected site. It may work by soothing the skin.
Avatar f tn My son is 10months old and has had eczema since he was about 5 months,he has had loads of different creams that work for a short time then it flares up again.I must also state that he has been put on a dairy free gluten free diet which has eased it but hasn't helped greatly. My GP will not prescribe an antihistamine for him as he is under 1yr, is there anything with similar effects to an antihistamine that he can use?
Avatar m tn I am requesting this post be moved to the dermatology forum but I do have an answer for you. My husband has these same spots, and they do itch in winter and sometimes summer also. The spots are called Tinea versicolor. Tinea versicolor in aggravated in humid locations, most often winter because we wear warmer clothes that hold in moisture. In summer, because it is hot and humid outside, which promotes the increase of itching. The Tenia is a fungus, which is not contagious.

Avatar f tn What is the best treatment for vaginal Eczema. I have this for years now, it comes and goes. I use Calendula gel when I have symptoms, it seems to help but not completely. Is there something that I can use that is more effective. It is very uncomfortable. Burning sensation, etc. I had a biopsy done a few years ago and results came back (SPONGIOTIC DERMATITIS) which I been told is like ECZEMA. Can you please help or have any comments regarding this condition.
Avatar n tn He has been finished with the treatment for 3 weeks and with the Elidil and dipping him in Aquaphor 3 times per day he has not had anymore than just a "dry patch" appearing here and there which I combat with the Elidil, Momentasone and Mimyx and the usual Aquaphor regimine. He also takes Atarax 2 to 3 tsps per day for his allergies. Is this wonderfully clear skin still associated with the low dose steroids? Could I be so lucky to be keeping it at bay after all of these years?
784419 tn?1236261756 Eczema can be traced back to what you eat most of the time. This is especially true for kids. For adults you have to look at the detergents you are using, along with moisturizer. The most important thing is not scratching and to keep applying moisturizer. It can be hard to find one that agrees with your skin. Just after shower apply a liberal coat of a natural moisturizer like coconut oil.
Avatar n tn It will come and go for the rest of your life. Balantis is just eczema on the penis. Do you have eczema any where else? Cortisone cream should clear it up. Apply twice a day for a week. If you came in contact with something that you are allergic to it will clear up as long as you don't come in contact with the substance again.
Avatar m tn for a long time i thought i had really stubborn eczema but until today i went to a dermatologist and i found out that it was ilven (inflammatory linear verrucous epidermal naevus) i want to know more about treatments for ilven. i herd about CO2 laser treatment and apparently it worked well to reduce itching...but is this long term? also about surgery where removing parts of the skin.

Medical research shows that the most effective treatment plan for eczema involves using a combination of therapies to treat the skin and making lifestyle changes(prevention of triggers and application of lots of moisturizers) to control flare-ups. If the eczema is more severe, phototherapy (a type of treatment that uses light therapy) or systemic (circulates throughout the body) medication like oral steroids may be prescribed.

Avatar n tn Domeboro helps alleviate itching in the short term, emollients, petroleum jelly, zinc oxide ointment, salt soaks, nickel free diet and avoidance of known triggers. Discuss whih treatment option is best for you with your doctor. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar n tn I just talked to my Dr. about vaginal eczema. I had never heard of it before last week. I'm very prone to eczema, it seems to be related to my gluten intolerance. She felt the vaginal eczema is probably related to it also since I started eating glutenous foods again and my eczema everywhere else flared up too. I'm not Celiac, just intolerant and much more sensitive to it than intially thought. I'm going gluten free again and I'm hoping it all clears up soon.
