A deficiency of these vitamins has been linked to various types of eczema and other skin disorders.

Avatar m tn Hello, Eczema is characterised by red, dry patches which are itchy. If the rash is non itchy then it can be pityriasis alba. Pityriasis alba is a common skin condition mostly occurring in children and usually seen as dry, fine-scaled, pale patches on the face. No treatment is required and the patches in time will settle in due course of time. The redness, scale and itch if present may be managed with simple emollients and sometimes hydrocortisone, a weak steroid, is also used.
Avatar m tn B-complex (riboflavin) can also cause cracking of skin. This condition needs treatment with b-complex vitamins. Kawasaki disease is also associated with peeling of skin and whenever associated with fever, need immediate consultation as it leads to complication of blood vessel. Another possibility is fungal infection or other immunological disorder like SLE. Corticosteroids will be of help to relieve the symptoms. I suggest you to consult physician and rule out the cause early.

I don't want to have to keep going on with this. My 7 year old it covered head to toe with molluscum and eczema. Can someone please help us.
Avatar f tn My 2 yr old tends to get ill very frequently. Approximately every 3 weeks he is ill and is fine for about a week and then is ill again. He doesn't get bed ridden or anything when he is ill but does have trouble breathing especially at night. He has eczema and my sister has asthma. I've been told they are directly related and yesterday we were advised to give him a ventalin (2 puffs just before bed) to see if that helps.
Avatar m tn I am requesting this post be moved to the dermatology forum but I do have an answer for you. My husband has these same spots, and they do itch in winter and sometimes summer also. The spots are called Tinea versicolor. Tinea versicolor in aggravated in humid locations, most often winter because we wear warmer clothes that hold in moisture. In summer, because it is hot and humid outside, which promotes the increase of itching. The Tenia is a fungus, which is not contagious.
Avatar n tn Hello, Apart from steroids which is basic treatment for eczema, topical emmolients to prevent moisture loss from the skin can be used because Eczema can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. If the eczema is more severe, phototherapy (a type of treatment that uses light therapy) or systemic (circulates throughout the body) medication like oral steroids may be prescribed but they are not used in children.
Avatar f tn Another study showed that children who grow up in 3rd world conditions are less likely to have autoimmune problems then children growing up in a sterile environment. I don't remember where exactly these studies were published but I'm sure you'd be able to find them if you search around peer review scientific articles. Unfortunately for the most part immunology is still a growing field, muddled with uncertainty. Right now all you can do is deal with what you have.
Avatar f tn m doing that on a regular basis now that I have a B complex that actually agrees with me. The B vitamins do lessen the severity of eczema in my own case. Over all, my eczema is better in my whole body since eliminating gluten from my diet as well, but the issue on the lips has a bad habit of staying chronic and will really flare up irritated and red. I hate seeing doctors who don't know me about the condition and getting dismissed as if it's nothing but chapped lips.
Avatar n tn I have had Eczema that has come and gone for about eight years now. It usually appears when I am taking warmer than usual showers, exposed to the heat or cold, or using irritating beauty products. I usually see them on my arms and sometimes my stomach. For the past few weeks I have noticed that I have small patches under my skin that are lighter than normal. They are sorta red and slightly flaking, I have noticed this under both eyes.

Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp. under the nose or anywhere on face. Eczema is a form of chronic dermatitis (rash).Allergic reaction is one of the important causes of eczema. 1281453 tn?1275894600 Hello, From the symptoms the possibility of eczema needs to be ruled out. Eczema is a form of chronic dermatitis (rash).Allergic reaction is one of the important causes of eczema. Apply calamine lotion and take some antihistaminics like Benadryl. If the symptoms persist then topical steroids may be needed. For this please consult a dermatologist. Also keep it well moisturized as eczema can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin.
Avatar f tn ve done so much research to try and help him, but most things on eczema are for parents with children with it (my fiance is 23) and don't help me much...and he gets worse daily: last night the seeping soaked through two shirts and the pillow he was using (every which way he turned it). Avatar f tn I very rarely eat carrots, have stopped eating ketchup, i drink 5 pints of water a day now, to flush my system out. I have A-Z vitamins (started a month ago) and nothing is working. I cant use fake tan, as it builds up on my yellow skin and makes it even more darker, foundation does the same. It gets worse when I sweat, my underarms also get it. The sun does not do anything, good or bad.
