Common Questions and Answers about Eczema skin condition

eczema

Avatar f tn I agree with bsmsl that skin lesions are best evaluated directly by your doctor for proper diagnosis. Aside from eczema, skin irritation and infection should also be ruled out. .The pimple with fluid may also be due to a folliculitis which responds well to warm compress and topical antibiotic. Have this checked by your doctor also. Direct clinical examination is important. Take care and best regards.
Avatar f tn I'm searching for a diagnosis of skin condition that I have since childhood. The symptoms include extreme itching on skin with white/cloudy scaling, followed by darkening of the affected area. After scratching the area and removing scales, the skin burns. The symptoms start showing at random on skin. So far I've had the condition on legs (behind knees), arms (elbow joint) scalp (rear head), partially on lip and pelvis area.
Avatar n tn I have an unidentifiable skin condition on my thighs and rear. It has been around for several years. It is not eczema as I have been exposed to that before and know what it looks like. My condition is hardly even classifiable as a rash. The bumps are skin colored, small, and only become red if I scratch at them. They are spaced 2-4" apart and cover the back of my legs and the surrounding vicinity. They do not itch or hurt, but they are unattractive in certain lights.
Avatar n tn Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone or desonide), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide). Eczema can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Moisturizing is one of the most important self-care treatments for sufferers of eczema.
Avatar m tn Military doctors concluded that my condition was not eczema. If it were, the smallpox would have reacted with the eczema and broke out terribly on my body.
Avatar m tn Hello, It can be due to friction lichenoid dermatitis or eczema skin. For these rashes, do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. Also take some antihistaminic like Benadryl and apply a mild steroid cream on the itchy bumps. Also keep the area well moisturized. If the symptoms persist then get an evaluation done from a dermatologist.
Avatar n tn Because itching is a symptom in many problems related to the skin, including this skin disorder, this is not the basis of diagnosing the condition. Eczema always has a rash and this is part of the condition but there is still no explanation as to what causes the itching. The redness seen in the rash is the result of increased blood flow in the area, sometimes caused by the scratching.
Avatar m tn I have problem. When I get stressed or hungery, my skin becomes dry and wrinkeled. after I get full and relaxed, my skin looks more natural and oily soft. I work and go to college, so I can't stay away of being hungery or stressed, because I spent hours in work and collge with full of stress. is there any medicine for this or is this normal. I am 26 years old, and I look older than that. this condition started 3 years ago, but now it is increasing.
Avatar n tn The goals for the treatment of eczema are to prevent itching, inflammation, and worsening of the condition. Keeping the skin well hydrated through the application of creams or ointments and avoiding over-bathing is an important step in treatment. Lifestyle modifications to avoid triggers for the condition are also recommended. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn If the rash is non itchy then it can be pityriasis alba. Pityriasis alba is a common skin condition mostly occurring in children and usually seen as dry, fine-scaled, pale patches on the face. No treatment is required and the patches in time will settle in due course of time. The redness, scale and itch if present may be managed with simple emollients and sometimes hydrocortisone, a weak steroid, is also used.Severe cases may require PUVA therapy.

Avatar m tn Keratosis Pilaris (or KP) is a common dry skin condition that looks like goose bumps. These bumps can either appear skin-colored or red and are most commonly found on the arms and legs. Your dermatologist can tell by examining your skin whether you have KP. KP is caused by a build-up of keratin (a protein that makes up skin, hair and nails). Keratin can form hard plugs in skin's hair follicles, which creates rough bumps.
Avatar m tn Now what I am curious about is that when she had eczema herpeticum, it was quite bad on her right arm, few spots on her face. The rest of her skin totally cleared up from eczema. It actually went quite soft to touch which is not normal for her skin at all. She is very sore normally. Now that the viral infection has clearde up my daughter's eczema has returned as well. What could be the reason for that? I would be very grateful if somebody could point me in the right direction.
Avatar f tn hydrocortisone as dermacort), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid. Eczema can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Use good quality moisturizers to prevent moisture loss from the skin. If the symptoms persist then please get it evaluated from a dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar m tn B-complex (riboflavin) can also cause cracking of skin. This condition needs treatment with b-complex vitamins. Kawasaki disease is also associated with peeling of skin and whenever associated with fever, need immediate consultation as it leads to complication of blood vessel. Another possibility is fungal infection or other immunological disorder like SLE. Corticosteroids will be of help to relieve the symptoms. I suggest you to consult physician and rule out the cause early.
Avatar n tn I've had eczema my entire life and it's NEVER been as bad as it is now. I've had perscription steroid cremes every type of lotion out there. And all my dermato wants to do is use the same cremes. I NEED RELIEF!! Does anyone know a natural way to ease the eczema pain?
Avatar n tn This could be due to dry skin, an infection or other skin conditions such as eczema or dermatitis. In particular, eczema is a type of inflammatory skin condition and may present as rough and dry spot on the skin on one part of the body to raw and bleeding patches of skin in various spots on the body. On adults, eczema usually occurs on the neck and face, as well as inside the crook of the elbow, ankle and knee. If it persists, have this evaluated by your doctor for proper management.
