Common Questions and Answers about Eczema rash treatment

eczema

Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with eczema but the treatment does not help. I develop itchy, dry rashes mainly on the inner thighs with patches on the forehead. Eventually these rashes get dry and scaly and won't stop peeling and when they heal there is a lack of pigment in the area which lasts for months. I was recently in India and treated with medtronidazole for a parasite which cleared up the rashes for about 6 months but now it is back worse than ever. Any ideas?
Avatar m tn But if it is chronic skin condition then it may take some time for treatment. Eczema is a form of chronic dermatitis (rash).Allergic reaction is one of the important causes of eczema. The type of medication prescribed will depend on many factors, including the type of eczema, past treatment, and the patient’s preference. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn help! I started breaking out with a rash all over my body!! It starts as small blister/pimple like bumps and is EXTREMELY Itchy!! It is mainly on my ankles and midsection but is all over. what could this be?
Avatar n tn It can be due to environmental changes like sun or cold overexposure, skin trauma, overuse of steroids, acne rosacea or venous hypertension. Sclerotherapy and laser treatment are the two main treatment options. Please discuss these treatment options with your dermatologist and get it evaluated. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar n tn i have eczema in my leg how can i reduce itch? can i use a treatment that contains acyclovir USP?
Avatar m tn Magnesium can heal eczema. Here a post conversation: --Do you think I could just mix epsom salts and water, put it in a spray bottle, and spritz it all over my back every night instead of taking baths? or do I have to wash it off? I don't want to waste water... --If you do that, when the water dries you'll have a very fine epsom salt powder all over you.

Avatar f tn Hello, There's a possibility of it being a fungal infection. Other possibility is discoid eczema or contact dermatitis. In discoid eczema there are round or oval red patches of inflamed skin. Regular use of emollients to moisturize the skin, steroid creams to reduce inflammation may be helpful in this condition. If it is a fungal infection topical fungal cream without steroids may help. You should consult a dermatologist before starting any treatment. Do keep me posted.
Avatar m tn I have tried topical anti-fungal ointments (Lamisil), as well as Miconazole spray a week prior, and did the full 4 week treatment as well as the full 2 week treatment orally for ringworm, and I am guessing by the looks of the rash on my arm being bigger now than it was before treatment that it was most likely not ringworm.
Avatar m tn Hello, Eczema is characterised by red, dry patches which are itchy. If the rash is non itchy then it can be pityriasis alba. Pityriasis alba is a common skin condition mostly occurring in children and usually seen as dry, fine-scaled, pale patches on the face. No treatment is required and the patches in time will settle in due course of time. The redness, scale and itch if present may be managed with simple emollients and sometimes hydrocortisone, a weak steroid, is also used.
1221025 tn?1266842580 Hello, The symptoms are suggestive of eczema. In most cases of eczema no one treatment will be effective. Medical research shows that the most effective treatment plan for eczema involves using a combination of therapies to treat the skin and making lifestyle changes(prevention of triggers and application of lots of moisturizers) to control flare-ups. My sincere advice is to follow up the treatment that you have been prescribed by your dermatologists.

Avatar m tn about 2yrs ago I developed a rash on my one foot.I want to the Dr and he said is was a rash and gave me an antihistmine tablet and some cream. The second time I went to the Dr he said it was eczema and gave me more cream. Both my feet is now covered in scab and I'm to embarresed to go and see a Dr .It itches a lot ,especially at night, and sometimes I stratch it until it bleeds. I'm am extremely anxoius with summer coming up as the mark on my feet draws a lot of negative attention.
Avatar n tn After beginning treatment, the rash on my feet and armpits crusted over and has dried up dramatically. There is still visible areas where the rash is present, but there is a lot of improvement. My feet now have red capillary type areas, with scabbing. I am writing now because the rash seems to be spreading (after beginning treatment). The rash is moving down my arm, and there are also some areas on my legs. All the rash areas begin as small bumps that then turn into larger rash areas.

Avatar m tn Hello, Two possibilities are coming to my mind regarding this dark, dry and itchy rash. The first possibility is of erythrasma and the second possibility is of eczema. Erythrasma is a chronic superficial infection of the folds of the skin and typical appearance is well-demarcated, brown-red macular patches. The skin has a wrinkled appearance with fine scales. Wood lamp examination and gram staining are the tests for its diagnosis. Eczema is a form of chronic dermatitis (rash).
Avatar n tn Hi, It could be an eczema present in the buttocks. The term eczema is broadly applied to a range of persistent skin conditions. These include dryness and recurring skin rashes which are characterized by one or more of these symptoms: redness, skin edema (swelling), itching and dryness, crusting, flaking, blistering, cracking, oozing, or bleeding. Atopic eczema is believed to have a hereditary component, and often runs in families whose members also have hay fever and asthma.
Avatar f tn I also have dry itchy skin during treatment although I have eczema even when I'm not in treatment. It might be a symptom of hep c. I also use Gold Bond but Gold Bond Ultimate Healing Lotion with Aloe because the itching hasn't been that bad.

(couldn't see dermatologist-handles now only cancer-related situations-in process of finding new doctor) who thought the existing 'whatever' was a fungus+ -prescribed Alcortin bid + Zeabsorbe-use till rash is 'gone' ... it worked .
