Common Questions and Answers about Eczema on lower legs

eczema

Avatar f tn So much pain that it kept her up all night one night last week. I have pictures of her legs and am attaching said picture. It is on both legs in the same places and looks remarkable the same on both legs. Thanks for your opinion and any thought toward getting her some relief before she see the dermatologist. Someone mentioned that it could be kidney malfunction. She has had a history of kidney infections, but is on a maintenance dose Cephalaxin. Wonder if that could be the culprit?
Avatar n tn what exactly can i use to help stop itching and rash pn my lower and upper legs? This discussion is related to Itchy legs, no sign of rash or irritation.
Avatar m tn I am a male and do not shave my legs or belly but I keep getting small blisters almost like an ingrown hair or infected follicle on my upper legs and lower abdomen. Is that all it is or could it be something worse and how do I prevent it? I have psoriasis also if that helps with an answer.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have a rash that appears mostly in the summer months. It appears on my knees and ankles mostly but can also be seen on legs and feet. It's raised red spots which appear to have white around them. It has come back every year for about 6 years. I live in Ireland so the climate can get warm but not very warm and not very often. When i get to the doctor it has disappeared. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
Avatar m tn I have this lower leg rash for a while now. I am over weight and losing weight drastically now. But the rash doesn't itch, it is like brown specs on the shin and ankle of both legs. Does anyone have any idea what this is and what I can do?
Avatar f tn Help me please...
Avatar f tn He has been prescribed several creams, none of which work very well. The eczema is on his lower legs and arms, is extremely itchy, large areas are raised, crusty, and often bleeding & infected due to his scratching. The doctors have suggested he have allergy testing. All of this makes sense to me based on the research I've done, but my husband has one other symptom that the doctors say is part of the eczema, but I haven't seen it mentioned in any literature.
Avatar f tn A couple weeks ago I noticed a rash on my lower legs. It looked like a million freckles with a faint red background from my knee to my ankle and also a heavier patch on the outside of my right ankle. It didn't hurt, wasn't itchy, raised or anything. I only know I had it because I saw it. By the time I got to the Dr it was almost gone however I do still have a bit left. She had no idea what it was and did some blood work for my liver and also white count.
Avatar m tn I am not sure if this is eczema but every winter I get itchiness on my lower legs that drives me crazy I have been to several dermatologsits but it will not subside I have tried every moisturizer and soap there is olive oil shea butter too what is this and how can I get rid of it???
Avatar n tn My wife has had a recurring rash on her legs for about a year and a half now. we have been to a few doctors (no dermatologist) who have prescribed anti-biotics because they said it looked fungal. they have never helped. it will occasionally go away(not all of it but most of it) and then re-appear. she says it hurts when its really bad and itches all the time. it also makes the skin around the area look really dry to the point where it looks tight almost chapped.
Avatar f tn One morning the nurse was removing my skuds from my legs and I noticed the skin on both lower legs had turned black. This blackness stayed on my legs and 6 months after started coming off in round scales almost like fish scales. One leg is ok now, just slightly dark, but the other still has many dark brown patches that needs to come off and the skin underneath resembles corned beef, but getting lighter.
Avatar f tn I'm at a loss. I'm a 17 year old female, and my eczema just keeps getting worse. It's so bad on my lower legs that I have a hard time walking. It's moderate on my arms, and mild on my lower back, hands, chest, and upper legs. Sometimes I'll get it on my neck as well. I've been to the dermatologist a few months ago and he prescribed an antibiotic as well as some Hydro-cortisone cream (which I've been using for years).
Avatar f tn the only part on my body itching has been my legs. I have no rashes, no bumps, and nothing like shaving seems to be the cause. I have not changed soap, detergent, or lotion when I started having these problems, but have since tired different soaps like oatmeal, dry skin, and sensitive skin soaps. I have tried benadryl, and even put a humidifier in my room. It sometimes wakes me up at night, and my only option is a cold rag to sooth it.
Avatar f tn Thank you for yor response. I consider this as deep itch on my legs, I have been prescribed anti allergy pills and some medication for local application.
Avatar n tn It starts off with one little spot, then spreads to both my upper and lower legs. I have to put on pants to make it calm down. liquid nor oral benadryl does not help, bio oil does not help aloe gel does not help, lotion does not help. The only thing that helps is covering my legs with either long pants or a blanket. Do I just have sensitive skin and is there a remedy out there I need to try? Thanks.
Avatar n tn Hi I'm so glad to hear others suffer with the itchy legs; no rash problem. I've suffered from this for 20+ years and think I've solved the problem for me. My lower legs tend to itch after a morning shower (or if water even touches my legs!). This is an uncontrollable itch that lasts for about 20-30 minutes. My doctor could not suggest any reason for it. I have found that aerobic exercising first thing in the morning for about 20-30 minutes (I jog), then shower with no problems.
Avatar n tn This rash has not spread to anywhere else on the body, and does not appear on the genitals or my shins and calves, even though my genitals are in direct contact with the infected skin and my lower legs has seen as much exposure to the elements and much more than my thighs or armpits have. Does anyone have a clue to the cause of this rash?
Avatar m tn Hello, One of the possibilities for your symptoms is of vascular eczema. The other is of stasis dermatitis. Stasis dermatitis affects the lower limbs mostly. It is mostly from vascular problems in the lower limbs. I would suggest you to get it evaluated from a dermatologist and get the diagnosis confirmed. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar f tn The outbreaks occur at least 3 to 4 times a month and last for about 3 days. The rash is a red raised bump on the back of her legs, ususally about 4-6 bumps on each leg and up near her butt. They are about the size of a nickel or quarter. The doctors ruled out ring worm, and say it is a form of eczema. But the cream and ointment they gave me for this eczema has never worked for her. It also seems when these bumps appear, she gets tiny red bumps near her eyes and gets a runny nose too.
Avatar f tn ( it comes out in rashes sometimes even little lumps and it only appears on my lower legs i occasionally itch on my arms and back but nothing as bad as my legs, my legs are such a state that i gey a burnin feelin when i go in the bath or sometimes even touch it.
Avatar n tn sometimes there a little itchy but only on my lower legs. I am the only one experiencing this. as for the photo it appears to be pending admin approval. The scabs are covering small pink to redish lumps, but are forming above the skin level. when scratched away the remainder does not lower into the skin but rather looks almost like after a burn thats healed partly, where the skin is kinda shiny and smooth. this area is raised above the skin level slightly.
Avatar m tn Two months ago I had about a week where my hands and ankles got swollen a few times and I had spots that looked similar to this on my lower legs that went away within a day. I have no clue what is going on and am kind of scared. I thought they might be hives [since their behavior of only being there for a day and then moving elsewhere fits what I read about hives online] but they don't look as red as hives do from the pics I've seen online. Any idea what this might be? Thanks!!
Avatar n tn I have, over the last week, got a rash on my legs and arms. I cannot see the rash but can feel it under the skin. When it is itchy and I scratch it the lumps go red with blood and look more like a traditional 'rash'. My legs are the worst affected but my lower arms also have started to get it. Strangely, it is affecting my right side more than my left. At times I cannot help but scratch it.
