Eczema on lower leg

Common Questions and Answers about Eczema on lower leg

eczema

Avatar m tn I have this lower leg rash for a while now. I am over weight and losing weight drastically now. But the rash doesn't itch, it is like brown specs on the shin and ankle of both legs. Does anyone have any idea what this is and what I can do?
Avatar f tn For over a year I have a raised red rash on my lower leg. My doctor prescribed cortisone cream which helps with the itchiness but not clearing it up. Have also tried tea tree oil, again not clearing it up. Please advise if there is an ointment that can help clear this up.
Avatar n tn I was using Nystatin and it seemed to get better, then it returned even worse. The cream seems to do little for it now. I got eczema on my knuckle last year and it finally cleared up. I assume this is the same thing. It is red and raised. It almost looks as if the hair follicles are what is red and raised. The only reason this concerns me is because I was burned badly in this area in 2002. I never went to the Dr. for the burn although I was told it was a severe 2nd degree.
Avatar f tn He has been prescribed several creams, none of which work very well. The eczema is on his lower legs and arms, is extremely itchy, large areas are raised, crusty, and often bleeding & infected due to his scratching. The doctors have suggested he have allergy testing. All of this makes sense to me based on the research I've done, but my husband has one other symptom that the doctors say is part of the eczema, but I haven't seen it mentioned in any literature.
Avatar f tn The itch is caused by dry skin and it usually itches near the shin area which is very thin -- although the whole lower leg, and sometimes upper leg can be affected. A good remedy for this is to drink about 8 glasses of water a day, but drink them after you exercise so that the water is actually absorbed into the system, also take Vitamin E and fish oil, plus about 2,000 mg of Vitamin C a day. Vitamin C does wonders for the skin.
Avatar n tn I was told a rash on the lower part of my legs, covering mostly the upper shin area, was due to poor circulation. I started working out, losing weight, adding Gingko, Flax Seed and Fish Oil supplements to my diet, and generally taking better care of myself. However, the rash remains. I have tried Calendula, Cortisone, Clinique skin care treatments and am now using a rinse of peroxide followed by witch hazel.
Avatar n tn I have a rash on my lower leg about the size of a half dollar, its got well defined edges, doesn't itch and doesn't hurt, when its touched the color goes from bright red to more of my natural skin tone. I have had it for 4ish weeks tried antifungal meds on it with no success. Anyone have any ideas. It doesn't spread and hasnt reall changed size.
Avatar m tn I have recently began to get small perfectly round red marks on my lower legs and a couple on the feet. They appear suddenly and and fade within a couple of hours. I have had them intermittingly over the course of the last few days but not every day. When i stretch the skin around the mark it disappears and returns when the skin reverts back to normal. I take no medication/no illnesses apart from geographic tongue. I am at a lss to understand what it could be....
Avatar f tn On my lower leg there is a patch of rough, discolored skin and its been there for a few years now and has never bothered me up until recently I noticed it started to spread. It is painless and very rarely itchy and when it is, it starts to get dry and crusty. These new patches are a little red/pink and I can see tiny bumps whereas my old one is flatter but with wider bumps and darker than my skin tone.
Avatar f tn I'm at a loss. I'm a 17 year old female, and my eczema just keeps getting worse. It's so bad on my lower legs that I have a hard time walking. It's moderate on my arms, and mild on my lower back, hands, chest, and upper legs. Sometimes I'll get it on my neck as well. I've been to the dermatologist a few months ago and he prescribed an antibiotic as well as some Hydro-cortisone cream (which I've been using for years).
Avatar n tn t try the topical eczema drugs you have mentioned. I put on lotion 3 times a day.
Avatar f tn One morning the nurse was removing my skuds from my legs and I noticed the skin on both lower legs had turned black. This blackness stayed on my legs and 6 months after started coming off in round scales almost like fish scales. One leg is ok now, just slightly dark, but the other still has many dark brown patches that needs to come off and the skin underneath resembles corned beef, but getting lighter.
Avatar n tn My 5 year old daughter has a circular skin discoloration on the back of her lower leg. We first noticed it about a month ago, but it has not gone away. We first thought it was a burn, but she was not burned. We then thought it might be a birth mark, but upon closer inspection found that the texture felt different than the surrounding skin. She also says that pressure on the area hurts. She also says that it hurts a little when she runs.
Avatar n tn My girlfriend has a spot on her leg and it seems when she went to two doctors already they couldn't give her a definite answer to what it is. I was wondering if anyone could look at the image and give me an idea. I am hoping over the counter medications will make it go away. She says she feels like it has 'roots' and it doesn't hurt on the rough looking part but it does around the edges. http://imgur.
Avatar f tn Hi, I've developed a rash on my inner leg between at the crease where it joins my scrotum. It's red and itchy but not blistering or weeping, more like eczema. I have it two weeks, not going away or getting much worse. Two things occured two weeks ago, I went for a 30km cycle, first in ages. And also received oral sex from a man. So heat rash or STD? Any help appreciated.
Avatar n tn i have a spot on my leg, i'm pretty sure it's eczema, but it's reeally small. two cm or so, width and length. and it's dry, use to be white flakey skin now it's tan with an odd surface, and it's completley flat. it has been there (my upper shin) since before summer started, has not spread but i have kept it covered since then. would eczema be in such a small portion? this is indeed the only spot like this on my entire body. itches sometimes, never hurts.

About 4 months ago I had a few days where I had spots like this on various parts of my hips in various shapes and sizes that would go away after about a day and then come back in another spot the next day. This went on for about a week.
Avatar f tn I often have itchy sensation on my lower leg. Sometimes I have suspicion that it's due to dry air, which humidifier does alleviate the sensation. It has worsened in the last 2 years, perhaps with age (I'm currently 36 years old) Besides humidifier, are there other remedies that you may recommend (e.g., type of moisturizer, diet, etc).
Avatar n tn I'm not sure what these marks are on my leg but I'm very concerned and I wonder if anyone can help shed some light on it. http://i49.tinypic.com/2cpb18g.
371848 tn?1206207834 and then yesterday i noticed a medium sized dot on my chest with the same characteristics as the one on my leg, but it doesnt itch! I went to the dermatologist today, to have it checked out to make sure it wasnt skin cancer, and he said it was eczema. I usually believe doctors, cuz they are supposed to know what they are talking about right? The reason im not completely sold on this is because of the fact that the two spots dont really itch..
Avatar f tn My 95 year old mother has had a rash with occasional open sores on her ankles and lower calves. It seems to be climbing up the calf on both legs. Her feet get small red bumps, but her ankle takes the brunt of the rash. She is not diabetic, is not bedridden, has had an ankle brachial test that came out fine. She's had 9 other blood tests that also came out fine. She's had a carotid artery test which also came out ok for a 95 year old.
Avatar n tn I have a rash on the outer thighs and going down my upper leg. Some of it is also on my upper buttock. I went to the dematologist yesterday. I have had the rash on and off since the beginning of the year. It itches. It gets better and then comes back. The dermatologist said he had no diagnosis. He said he was leaning towards eczema, but then said it could be some sort of cancer from within and he did a biopsy. I am 73. I have no other symtoms.
Avatar n tn I was wondering if it is possible to have eczema without the affected area getting red? I have had patches of dry flaky skin on my eyelids (upper and lower) for about a month now and I've been trying moisturizers and allergy medication with little help. First, could this truely be eczema and second how should it be treated when it occurs around the eyes.
Avatar n tn i have eczema in my leg how can i reduce itch? can i use a treatment that contains acyclovir USP?
