Avatar f tn I have frequent outbreaks of eczema on my hand, and the insides of my arms. In addition to all this, my upper lip has spots on it, and I have a dark ring around my mouth. I think the spots are from sun damage, as my lips were a very light pink when I was younger. The dark ring around my mouth goes away depending on what I eat. Its very irritating to be itchy and dry all the time, and I need a change. What recommendations do you have for very dry skin and sun damaged lips?
Avatar m tn I have read that not protecting lips and spraying directly on face can effect the mucus membranes namely the lips. Less than 24 hrs later my upperlip had a white raised rash sourounded by many smaller white bumps , the corners of my mouth are also white and blotchy. The bottom lip seems ok except for being chaped and cracked. I have used vaseline for 4 days not and it has not helped. It only makes the lips burn. Cool liquids seem to south the lips temporarily .
Avatar n tn when peel a unpleasent smell and taste is felt sometimes on the lips. it seems as though eczema but not itchy at all. this has caused a little thichening of lips in past 15 years. no cure or remedy worked so far. kindly advice. thank you.
Avatar f tn Hi, This could be an eczema of the lips. The form of eczema that affects the lips is known as cheilitis. This causes roughness to the lips and can make them very sensitive, causing them to itch. This eczema starts off with just a few rough patches on both of their lips, sometimes they are difficult to see, however they are painful to the touch. These rough patches are not normally located inside the mouth, normally they are located where the lip joins onto the normal skin of the face.
Avatar m tn I have experienced a mild form of eczema on my lips for some time now. I was treating it with Protopic ointment. It seemed to work for a while, as long as I was using it every day. However my question involves the inner part of my bottom and upper lip. It forms a rough whitish skin that compels me to bite at it or pick at it. Is this rough white skin (that appears to be dead skin by the way) part of the eczema that is affecting the part of my lips on the inside of my mouth?
Avatar n tn I know for i fact I DO NOT LICK MY LIPS! i have been putting some blistex medicated ointment on them that helps a little with the redness and makes them comfortable to live with. Has anyone seen or heard of this or know how to get rid of it? please help.
Avatar n tn I have dermatitis and eczema on my face and arms, so could it have been transferred through scratching to my lips? Also nothing is working (steroids, e45, aqueous cream, vaseline, chapsticks etc.) so any advice there?
Avatar n tn im 14 and have eczema around my lips on my hands and in the bends of my legs and arms. my lips are different from my other areas though.
Avatar f tn I realise that my eczema gets worse when i get my allergies, it starts with the skin around my mouth getting gradually itchy, sometimes with vesicle fomation on my lips, and the next day my eczema gets worse and my mouth would look darker than usual. Am on mild daily anti-histamines as prescribed by a dermatologist and am using a hydrocortisone cream for the eczema around my lips. I would like to know about the connection between my skin allergies and the eczema.
Avatar f tn Eczema of the lips is more common when the lips are dry, so fall and winter are more likely seasons. Eczema of the lip area is common in those who have sensitive, dry skin that is prone to allergies or have a history of eczema or asthma. This rash is exacerbated by several things: 1. any strongly flavored or alcohol-based mouth care product, like mouthwashes with alcohol or strong mint or cinnamon flavors 2. chewing gum with strong flavors 3. lip balms, for two reasons a.
Avatar m tn There are loads of things that can cause bumps on your lips - irritation, allergic reactions, dermatitis, eczema, Fordyce spots, among a lot of other things. The only way you'll know what is causing yours is to see a doctor when you have them. If they think it's a cold sore, make them do a culture or PCR swab on it to know for sure. Cold sores are caused by herpes simplex type 1, and about half the adult population has it.
Avatar f tn Here, the virus can lie dormant and can get reactivated at intervals producing symptoms. Another cause could be eczema. So, avoid the balm and see if the symptoms still appear then check with your doctor to rule out a herpes infection. Regards.

Avatar f tn I've had a similar issue. Do you have eczema anywhere else on the body, like the scalp or hands or arms? It's possible you're starting to get eczema on and around your lips, like I have. In such a case, I have found that vaseline just isn't enough. Eczema is more than what some people think it is, as it is actually a form of skin autoimmune issue. For some people, it can actually get worse than what psoriasis sufferers get, if you can imagine.
Avatar m tn Secondly, it can be due to atopic dermatitis or eczema. Cheilitis(Inflammation of the skin on and around the lips)is often seen in atopic dermatitis. Diagnosed by blood test like RAST. Treatment is by topical steroids or oral therapy of corticosteroids in severe cases. Topical creams like tacrolimus ointment (Protopic) and pimecrolimus cream (Elidel) are also useful. My sincere advice would be to consult a dermatologist. I hope it helps.
Avatar n tn I've been having problems with flaking around my lips and on my lips. There is a slight pain when I apply carmex or blistex to it and it does get better although the flaking will not stop. Ive read that it could be ezcema but I havent tried using hydrocortisone yet. Maybe that will help. Should I just go to my doctor? The problem seems so small that I dont want to waste my doctors time.
Avatar f tn Six or seven months ago I started to get a very painful rash on my lips. It begins as sore tiny bumps. After a day the bumps become very raw, and with in the next few days they become what I would describe as scaly or scabby. Often, the skin around my lips itches, but no rash anywhere but my lips. During the worst out breaks the little bumps ooze a clear fluid. This rash is quite painful, causing discomfort when talking and pain when eating.
Avatar n tn Hi, Fordyce spots are small (1-5mm), slightly elevated yellowish or white papules or spots that can appear on the lips and inside of the cheeks. They may occur as a solitary lesion or more frequently in crops of about 50-100. Fordyce spots are a variant of sebaceous glands (the glands that normally produce sebum and are usually found within hair follicles). Fordyce spots are sebaceous glands without hair follicles. They are present in 80-95% of adults.
Avatar n tn I cant remember what they are called but it could be something completely unrelated to herpes. I used to swim alot and one time I picked up something that sounds simular from the pool, are they little really itchy fluid filled bubbles on your hands and feet that pop when you itch them?
Avatar f tn Hi there, Wondering if someone could help me with my situation. Stupidly had unprotected sex with a friend, he pulled out. 2 weeks later I feel like I'm falling apart physically. Firstly, I suddenly developed a reaction rash to a nickel necklace that had been fading for a while and I wore alot but it was quite sore and really itchy and red and had to take over the chemist counter meds. It's faded now but still get occasional reaction on my hands etc.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have always had "issues" with my lips. Every since I can remember, I've had on and off "cuts" in the corners of my mouth, someones on one side, sometimes on both-- when I was younger I used to call it "clown mouth." I also have very very dry, flaky lips. When i put creams, etc on it, it just seems to help maybe while it's still on, but once the cream dries/ gets wiped off etc my lips are back to how they were.
