624829 tn?1240755671 See the treatment for both is entirely different and sometimes steroids used for eczema may aggravate the symptoms if it is a fungal infection. In my opinion, you should get it evaluated from a dermatologist.Skin biopsy and KOH cultures may be needed to confirm a diagnosis. Hope it helps.Kind regards.

Avatar n tn I think its probably a bacterial infection. Im suffering from one right now. "booked to see a dermatologist next month" isnt that crazy? that you need to wait over a month to see a doctor? I went through the same thing. Whatever you do DON'T USE STEROIDS!!!!
1108576 tn?1265846011 It is treated like chronic eczema by decreasing water and soap contact, and applying emollients. Topical steroids are almost always needed to control the symptoms. You can use mild steroid cream like Dermacort and if the symptoms persist then high potency steroids and oral steroids may be needed. My sincere advice would be to consult a dermatologist to get the diagnosis confirmed.
Avatar f tn which is the typical ending for a steroid. Steroids creams are pretty standard treatment for eczema. I don't remember how many were tried on my daughter before we settled on her current treatment. Yours sounds more like an antibiotic cream. hmmm.... Well, if it works that is all that matters. Thanks for posting back. God bless.
Avatar n tn Hello, It is true that topical steroids are not without side effects and should be used only for some time. In most cases of eczema no one treatment will be effective. Medical research shows that the most effective treatment plan for eczema — regardless of type — involves using a combination of therapies to treat the skin and making lifestyle changes(prevention of triggers and application of lots of moisturizers) to control flare-ups.
Avatar n tn I have topical steroids and have been on oral steroids. After the use of the oral steroids, the blisters came back twice as bad and have not gone away. what can i do to stop the itching!
Avatar n tn I was wondering if it is possible to have eczema without the affected area getting red? I have had patches of dry flaky skin on my eyelids (upper and lower) for about a month now and I've been trying moisturizers and allergy medication with little help. First, could this truely be eczema and second how should it be treated when it occurs around the eyes.
Avatar m tn Allergic reaction is one of the important causes of eczema. In most cases of eczema no one treatment will be effective. A combination of treatments should be used. Along with topical steroids, you should use good quality moisturizers on the area. Immunomodulators like tacrolimus and Pimecrolimus are not without side effects and should be used after a dermatologist’s prescription.
Avatar n tn Hello I have had eczema ever since I was a child but the last few years it has been more bothersome. For years now it has been on the palms of my hands. Sometimes its worse than others but it seems to pretty much always be there. I have been given many different cremes, lotions etc and nothing topically seems to work.
Avatar f tn If you take hot showers, it will make it worse. Just fyi. I have psoraisis and can't take any of my medication for it because they are all steroids. Just make sure to keep the areas moist constantly to prevent the cracking. There are all natural remedies you can find online.
Avatar n tn Approxiamtely 4 months ago I was diagnosed with Eczema on the face. I was given daktacort hydrocortisine to manage the flare-ups which has controlled the eczema. However after using the cream for about 3 months I began to develop an area of redness on one side of my nose which goes across my cheek bone. It seems to be very sensitive to the sun, after I wash my face and in certain environments. Grateful for your advice.
