The type of medication prescribed will depend on many factors, including the type of eczema, past treatment, and the patient’s preference.
Avatar f tn hello, I am a female soldier whom is currently serving in Afghanistan, I normally have combination skin that would occasionally have eczema breakouts, but while deployed and having to bath in chemically treated water my face has took a turn for the worst. How can I keep my skin healthy?

Avatar f tn I dont think its eczema because I grew up dealing with it and it feels and looks different than eczema. It doesn't itch like eczema.
Avatar m tn it appears to be an "eczema" disease. i'v been experiencing it for 2 years and it spreaded from my middle, to the 2nd, 4th and now the 1st finger (only right hand). So the finger's skin made a cycle, where it peeled, and then it grows the newer one but its thick and theres no fingrprint in it, then it goes back to peeling and again. (But in a small area).
Avatar f tn t know if this new stuff is eczema. Now, I have a red rash all over my right hand and around my wrist. The skin there feels kind of scaly (unlike the eczema around my arms), and it gets really itchy. It has extended up and around my middle finger as well, and the elasticity around my knuckle has worsened too. If I pinch the skin on my knuckle, it doesn't go back down all the way like it should. The skin on my neck has gotten bad too.

Avatar m tn I have had eczema on my arms and lower legs for many years. Moisturizing helps, as well as being consistent with any prescription medication you have for it. I have found that using lotions and soaps without chemical ingredients or perfumes has helped a lot - it helps keep it from getting itchy or irritated, which in turn helps it heal and get into a less noticeable appearance. Most people don't notice it as much as you do so try not to worry about it.
Avatar n tn I've had eczema my entire life and it's NEVER been as bad as it is now. I just gave birth a little over a month ago, but my skin now is soo irritated and itchy I can't even sleep at night. It's made it hard to move or take showers. It burns. I've had perscription steroid cremes every type of lotion out there. And all my dermato wants to do is use the same cremes. I NEED RELIEF!! Does anyone know a natural way to ease the eczema pain?
Avatar m tn hello, i'm having a problem. I have eczema on my feet and now its slowly showing up on hands. It looks like small bubbles filed with liquid and its growing to the point where i have to pop it. I went to dermatologist and was prescribed fluocinonid 0.05% ointment. I used it for 5 days and did't see any results so i stopped. In the winter time i did not have it and now i have again. So i went one more time to the Doctor and got clobetasol propinate ointment 0.05%.
304573 tn?1345577338 I had great luck with running a humdifier near my bedroom and doing everything possible to rehydrate skin (lotion, mosture body wash). Reduced the rash to just specific spots which I treated first with extra lotion but finally had very good luck with 1% hydrocortisone gel, fixing all but a couple of the biggest rash spots (and made them smaller and less itchy. Riba rash is better than hair loss, at least you can improve it some, even if you can't completely stop it.
Avatar f tn My skin is not extremely sensitive but I always use fragrance free lotion. Fragrance in lotion, moisturizer, etc can irritate the skin even if unnoticed. If you have sensitive skin, it would be even more irritating. Menthol is also an irritant. I only use it to temporarily soothe away the AWFUL itchiness of eczema (it's better than scratching). If your son reacts to fragrances, I don't understand why you should continue its use.
Avatar n tn Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone or desonide), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide). Eczema can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Moisturizing is one of the most important self-care treatments for sufferers of eczema.
Avatar m tn My wife suffers from eczema and is particularly affecting her palms of hands to the point that her skin is cracking. It is extremely itchy and she has sought medical attention with a dermatologist but the medication prescribed is ineffective. Anyone have this type of condition? Any alternatives?
Avatar n tn I use a moisturizing fragrance free lotion daily. One that is good for eczema helps. And some hydrocortisone when absolutely necessary. Try Cetaphil, Eucerin, AmLactin, Vanicream.
Avatar m tn It kinda does sound like eczema to me, I used to get the same dry patches of skin with cuts that itched and burned on the sides of my pointer fingers and I went to the doctor and he perscribed me some medicine for eczema, since then I havent had an issue.
