Common Questions and Answers about Eczema legs

eczema

Avatar n tn Hi, I have a rash that appears mostly in the summer months. It appears on my knees and ankles mostly but can also be seen on legs and feet. It's raised red spots which appear to have white around them. It has come back every year for about 6 years. I live in Ireland so the climate can get warm but not very warm and not very often. When i get to the doctor it has disappeared. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
Avatar n tn How come my legs are always so itchy? I always scratch them and rip the skin on accident. Mainly only the front of my legs are itchy. My arms don't itch though.
Avatar m tn It is possible that they are eczema or since the hair is coming out of them it might be folliculitis. I have eczema and it looks like that but it itches a lot. But they can start out like you said as a red dot then become a blister if you scratch them they usually spread or can go away. But I would have to look up folliculitis. The main thing is you don't want to scratch because you don't want to get an infection. I either leave them alone and they go away.
Avatar f tn This is Eczema. The more you scratch the worse it itches. Eczema is a skin disease that causes itchy, red, dry flaky skin. There is no cure or reasonable treatment. The treatment is typically steroids but there are side effects. You should cut down on the amount of baths you get. Don't use hot water. Use a oil based soap like oilatum or Dove all natural. Use natural laundry detergents based on enzymes. Don't use bleach or dryer pads. Use a good moisturizer just after shower.
Avatar n tn Hello. Whenever I attempt to walk quickly, my legs begin to itch uncontrollably, and then turns in to intense pain. It begins in my feet, moves up my ankles and then to my chins, then thighs and butt. It happens before I start sweating, but after my heart rate goes up a little bit. This happens in the city when I am walking to work or to the bus stop - it also happens in the gym on the tread mill. So I avoid walking as much as I can.
Avatar f tn On the shins of my legs i have these hot patches, almost as if only a specific part is heated up

Avatar n tn My wife has had a recurring rash on her legs for about a year and a half now. we have been to a few doctors (no dermatologist) who have prescribed anti-biotics because they said it looked fungal. they have never helped. it will occasionally go away(not all of it but most of it) and then re-appear. she says it hurts when its really bad and itches all the time. it also makes the skin around the area look really dry to the point where it looks tight almost chapped.
Avatar f tn He has been prescribed several creams, none of which work very well. The eczema is on his lower legs and arms, is extremely itchy, large areas are raised, crusty, and often bleeding & infected due to his scratching. The doctors have suggested he have allergy testing. All of this makes sense to me based on the research I've done, but my husband has one other symptom that the doctors say is part of the eczema, but I haven't seen it mentioned in any literature.
9807151 tn?1406762059 I've always had eczema on my upper arms and thighs. Now it's all over my arms and legs. Honestly, I haven't found anything yet that works. I've tried scrubs and such and nothing helps.
Avatar n tn When I wear wool boots with jeans, and my legs get hot, I get these red hot splotches everywhere on them! its weird, looks kind of like little red continents all over my legs! They never hurt, but they sometimes get itchy, usually in the shower. I can get them mildly on my arms, all over my legs, my bum, it just is everywhere!
Avatar f tn It works well on the hands and legs and leaves a coating to seal out water. eczema can be caused by an allergy but you still need to treat it. Anti allergy meds never worked for me. Do not scratch it even it is very itchy. You have to apply it every day and after getting the legs wet, dry by patting dry and then apply the cream. You can get it online. I have tried everything and this was the best for me. It works on my hand eczema too.
Avatar m tn I have bad eczema on both of my legs. That's pretty much the only place it flares up very often, save for my hands. I've even tried really short showers and pat drying, and all the itchy dry spots are STILL there. Are there ANY kind of recommended lotions I could use that might lessen or eliminate this problem? My doctor told me of a few (Eucerin, Corel, Aveeno) and I have tried them and they've only made it worse or done nothing at all. Any key ingredients I should look out for?
Avatar f tn The doctors ruled out ring worm, and say it is a form of eczema. But the cream and ointment they gave me for this eczema has never worked for her. It also seems when these bumps appear, she gets tiny red bumps near her eyes and gets a runny nose too. I've attached some photos of her legs when her outbreaks occur. Please help! I'm sick of hearing the same old song and dance from the doctor we use.
Avatar m tn attached is some of the recent picture of his legs and how they look currently. I would really appreciate any advise thank you again for this nice forum.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Triamcinolone Acetonide cream when i found out that i had eczema. I used it like it said only putting it on my legs (where the majority of my eczema was at the time.) every other day. I only put on a very thin amount because thats what i was told. Soon after finishing my first container of the cream i started noticing my legs were starting to discolor some. Then all of a sudden i started getting thick dark stretch marks on the inner part of my legs.
Avatar n tn The itchiness is all over my legs and ankles and up on the insides of my legs as well. Also, the skin on my elbows is so cracked and dry it hurts to touch. I have tried several lotions several times a day and cannot get any moisture in. This dryness is on my forehead as well, but is not as bad, my forehead flakes when I rub it. My father has eczema, I wasn't sure if there was any kind of inheritance that could be involved.
Avatar f tn My legs get really itchy after shaving and at night while sleeping I start scratching them sometimes even without realizing it. And now I have scratches and marks everywhere on my legs, they don't seem to disappear. This is really embarrassing. Any ideas of what should I do? I've tried some balms and home made remedies but they don't seem to work!!
Avatar m tn i have these big black patches near my groin on the inner thigh they've been there for about 3yrs and sometimes they itch really bad in the winter and sometimes in the summer just recently i've had the same itching behind my knees and random itching on my thighs, legs and sometimes my buttocks could those random itchings be a form of eczema? how can i suppress it? and do you think a strict diet will prevent it from itching as bad?
Avatar n tn I have, over the last week, got a rash on my legs and arms. I cannot see the rash but can feel it under the skin. When it is itchy and I scratch it the lumps go red with blood and look more like a traditional 'rash'. My legs are the worst affected but my lower arms also have started to get it. Strangely, it is affecting my right side more than my left. At times I cannot help but scratch it.
Avatar m tn Like all first time posters here, I am scared about testing positive for HSV. It has been about ten weeks. A test 31 days after my last exposure was negative for the whole battery of STDs, including HIV RNA test. Should 31 days be conclusive? Everything I have read says yes. My real question while I wait to test again relates to my eczema and inverse psoriasis. Since my possible HSV exposure the rashes from those two skin disorders has been worse than ever.
Avatar n tn I have developed red spots on my legs, knee down, and very itchy My skin is dry. In Mid June Ihad a precancerous growth removed on my right shin area and I thought it must be the numbing medication used, but it seems to be getting worse. . Avatar n tn The various possibilities of rash/bites like lesions are varicose dermatitis (occurs over a varicose vein), discoid eczema (this may be both the dry or wet type), asteatotic eczema or a variant of discoid eczema over dry skin, gravitational eczema, atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis (if you work outdoors or somewhere where some chemical or plant or any thing else comes in contact with your legs), or even psoriasis and tinea corporis (a fungal infection). Do consult a skin specialist.
