eczema laundry detergent

Sorry this may be a stupid question, but just wanted some opinions on baby laundry detergent vs regular laundry detergent. Which did you use? I'm not sure if you have to use the detergent that's for babies or any one free of dyes/perfumes will work? Or just use what the rest of us use? Wait and see what the baby's skin will tolerate? Any comments are appreciated, I'm lost when it comes to this!

I'm going to get All free and clear. I think you can use anything as long as there is no dye/perfumes. I'm not going to break our bank on laundry detergent! But I'm definitely not using regular sisp with dyes and scents because I don't want him to break out either.

I tried to wash my son's clothes in the laundry detergent I use for my husband and I but it turned out he had eczema so I switched him to baby purex(he still uses it, he's 2 now)..which is very inexpensive and worked great for him, he has super sensitive skin. Dreft was just too expensive, I didn't want to be spending that much on washing clothes..and for fabric softner I just use the free and clear.

t stay on babys clothes even after washing....I personally think u should separate the laundry until u know the detergent u choose will work for both. My daughter has eczema and has also had a horrible skin virus that broke out every inch of her skin. She was then covered in scabs whole she was healing. All over. Just removing her pants left a dusting of scabs all over the changing table. U have to set aside wat u WANT n do wat u need.

Scratching makes it worse or even if it is a rash or bite it makes those worse too. What does it look like? If it is eczema or a rash you may be allergic to your detergent or something else. Try using fragrance and dye free detergents and other items on your skin. Also, Eucerin , Restoraderm works well to calm down itching. I use a topical steroid for my legs and hands. You have to get this from your doctor. If you get a topical steroid don't get it in your eyes or face.

Do you have to wash baby clothes with a baby detergent? Is it that big of a deal? Will something happen using regular detergent or will it hurt the baby?

Keep all perfumes and fragrance away from your skin (check your laundry detergent, lotions, etc)- and that should help speed up the healing.

My recommendation would be to change your laundry detergent to something fragrance free. Use creams to moisturize the area- but those also should be fragrance free. Take a journal and note down what you eat, things you do, stress levels- and how the rash reacts to them. That should also help you narrow down any triggers you might be having.

It could take a week or so. But if you are still in contact with the cause, it won't help. Change your laundry detergent to an allergen free detergent. Don't use bleach, fabric softener or dryer pads. They cause a lot of problems. Try changing your soap to an all natural fragrance free soap. This could also be eczema or fungal.

I should also add that I do have dry skin at times and sensitive skin BUT I have not changed soaps, lotion, laundry detergent shampoo etc and for this very reason....

ve changed so many things in my life recently (healthy diet, began exercising, cut down on smoking), that I have no idea what the culprit could be, though a new brand of laundry detergent certainly seems to be the most likely (though the rash being limited to my genitals strikes me as very odd).

They are really nice baby clothes and i dont want to mess them up. So i got baby detergent from babies r us and was wondering can i wash all colors together or do i have to do them all separate?

I used my regular laundry detergent and dreft......but i had spray on dreft for the stains and Dylan never broke out or anything like that at all.......i never washed Dylan's clothes before i let him wear them but i did borrow my neighbors hand held steamer and steamed them!!

I had the same issue in the second trimester, I have had it since I was little but it really flared up. I changed my laundry detergent to all free and clear, use unscented soap like dove, and use a good mild lotion.

I know I'm supposed to go out and buy specail detergent just for the baby but I only get the free and Clear stuff anyways so can any one tell me why I should use the "special" stuff and not the stuff I use for myself? Is it really going to make difference or is it just so they can make us buy different detergents?
