Avatar f tn Could it be eczema or something else? I have never had eczema, so this would seem weird to me if it is and to just have it in one isolated spot. Should I see my doctor? Thank you!
Avatar n tn This may be a case of xerotic eczema or dishydrotic eczema. Dishydrotic eczema usually starts as small vesicles which contain fluid .These vesicles are covered by a tough membrane. This may be itchy. The itchiness may initiate an itch scratch cycle which may lead to excoriations and involve even normal skin. Eczema is a chronic and inflammatory process. It appears to involve the autoimmune system .Other causes may be environment and stress.
Avatar f tn He may not realize he might have eczema. This is a lifelong condition and the only real practical way to deal with eczema is through diet. Look up things like "foods not to eat with eczema" and "diet for eczema". The general consensus is that gluten and dairy should be avoided. I wish conventional doctors would tell their patients this, because not eating gluten and dairy is the only long term solution that helps me. Make sure you do the research, though.
Avatar m tn My wife suffers from eczema and is particularly affecting her palms of hands to the point that her skin is cracking. It is extremely itchy and she has sought medical attention with a dermatologist but the medication prescribed is ineffective. Anyone have this type of condition? Any alternatives?
Avatar n tn Thank you so much for your help. We are sort of wondering if it is hives. She has been eating alot of chocolate lately due to the holiday candy. We put it all away about 3days ago and have been giving her antihistamine. To me it looks as though it is getting better. The doctors did give me an eczema lotion for her hands. I haven't let her use any soaps out in the public restrooms or the paper towels. I have been just rinsing her hands with water and not letting her touch anything.
Avatar m tn Hello, From the symptoms it can be contact dermatitis or eczema. Eczema is a form of chronic dermatitis (rash).Allergic reaction is one of the important causes of eczema. Allergic reaction can occur to strong soaps, Solvents, chemicals, certain foods, food additives, plants, metals, cosmetics, even urine and faeces of some animals (dust mites). The mainstay of management is liberal use of moisturizers after washing with luke warm water. Soap should be used minimally.
899169 tn?1242617019 Hello, I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be due to dyshidrotic eczema. Eczema is a form of chronic dermatitis (rash). Wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g.
Avatar n tn My hands have eczema, occassionally I have what can only be described as an attack. They itch terribly, the skin between my fingers becomes very red, I scratch and rub my hands together like crazy, worsening the condition. My hands become swollen, then the skin hardens and the whole process begings over again, lasting two to three weeks between attacks. What can I do when an attack occurs?
Avatar n tn Hi, There is no definite cure for eczema but its recurrence may be easily controlled. Dishydrotic eczema is initiated by an itch scratch cycle that leads to eruption of lesions ( which usually contains a clear fluid ) and thus may eventually present with an excoriated or weeping lesion. Topical steroids of moderate and high potency may be used. Also avoiding direct contact with possible irritants may be able to help. Wearing protective hand gears while working will be beneficial.
Avatar n tn The skin on both of my hands is peeling. I've never had this happen to me before. I did not get sunburn, I haven't used any new soaps or taken any new medications or anything like that, and I can't figure out what could be causing it. I always use lotion on my hands several times a day.
Avatar f tn He told me it was (self-diagnosed) eczema. That is all I know. A week later, and I am having itching and burning. Could I have contracted something from him such as Herpes? Thanks...

Avatar m tn The bumbs are hard, almost callous like, slightly itchy, and mildly painful, especially in the creases of my hands when I try to bend my hands. Once my hands have dried out my palms look slightly dried out, with some flaking present. Please help me figure out what's wrong, its very embarrasing and I'm curious to know if it is contagious.

Avatar f tn Here's an interesting thought. I didn't know about this, 'til my primary doctor just told me. I have many food sensitivities, and I have Celiac. Did you know that eczema is one of the symptoms of Celiac? Okay, here's an interesting one for you: When I stopped eating gluten and dairy, which is absolutely essential for celiacs, I stopped having the severe eczema that I had been experiencing since I can remembering.
Avatar f tn Do the red hands eventually fade away? I swear if there was a traffic light out in the city somewhere I could stand in the intersection and just hold up one of my hands instead of a red light.
Avatar f tn t have this little bumps that form on my hands. I get these little bumps on my thumbs and in between my fingers on the webbings. And sometimes at the creases where your hand attaches to your fingers. I did a lot of work where my hands got really dirty, but I never pinched anything. And I recently moved from the suburbs to country. I just started getting these bumps after the carnival season ended. There's a lot of dust where I live and we're out in the country.
