976589 tn?1255609465 I have a dry patch of skin on my left arm. I think I have a food allergy, but not sure. I've been unable to pinpoint exactly which foods cause a more severe rash. Could this be eczema?
Avatar f tn Hello, As your child is showing rashes on touching of milk, this means he is allergic to milk proteins. Fortunately, most babies outgrow milk allergies by their second or third year. Babies who develop cow's milk protein allergy may have one or several of the symptoms like eczema or skin rash, abdominal pain or cramps, vomiting or diarrhea. I feel that you should consult an allergy specialist and get skin ***** or patch tests done.
1731952 tn?1310179875 I have really great, smooth skin with one exception; I have patches of eczema that keep growing. I know I'm not supposed to scratch but sometimes its excruciating. I am currently on a steroid cream (triamcinalone) to clear it up and it does, but is there anything I can do to prevent future flair ups?

Avatar f tn We eventually found out that it was a food allergy causing the eczema. Aveeno lotions and washes work great.
9041091 tn?1410417329 To help with eczema get some Cortizone Eczema Lotion. Its betweeen $8-$10 a bottle.I ewas instructed not to put ANYTHINGthat has a scent to it on my sons skin becabecause it makes it worse and sunscreen has a scent and I've never heard of that helping either.
1337810 tn?1333807530 I'm not an expert but my 2yr old son has eczema. he had it as an infant so I changed our clothes detergent to a hypo-allergenic or sensitive one as well as his nappy wipes. when he was 1 I gradually introduced normal soaps & detergents. he was fine for a few mths but then it came back worse. I now only use hypo-allergenic detergent & use skin cream during summer as it flares up during the hotter period.
Avatar n tn This sounds like a form of Eczema. Eczema can be drastically affected by food sensitivities, and it can matter greatly which dish detergents you use and which kind of lotion you're using. Gluten exasperates Eczema. I'm speaking from experience. Eczema is auto-immune. You have to take care of your whole body for the Eczema to calm down. You should look into food sensitivities.
Avatar f tn Sounds like a type of eczema. Sometimes eczema is exasperated by one's diet, because eczema is affected by food sensitivities. Cold sore medications are ineffective if this is eczema. Eczema is also known as the itch that rashes, which is why the little bumps get worse if you pick at them. The usual consensus for foods to avoid when you have eczema are gluten and dairy. There are others, but these are the big ones. They definitely affect my eczema.
Avatar n tn The doctors will tell you that food doesn't play a part. But people with eczema will tell you different. Nothing will make it go away. But a lot of things help. I like spicy food. I found that every time I ate it my eczema got worse. Sugar and chemicals did the same. So I started reading a variety of information. I found a lot of people that were able to at least alleviate symptoms or in some cases make it go away. Everyone is different so you will need to experiment.
Avatar n tn Allergic reaction is one of the important causes of eczema. Allergic reaction can occur to foods, strong soaps, Solvents, chemicals, certain foods, food additives, plants, metals, cosmetics, even urine and faeces of some animals (dust mites). I would suggest you to consult an allergist and discuss elimination diets and food challenge tests which can confirm whether certain foods are the triggers in your case. Hope it helps.
2040835 tn?1329869995 So sorry to hear of your skin issues .. that is not easy to live with. My kids used to get bad eczema from food allergies .. have you thought about trying to eliminate key things that may cause allergies .. with your docs permission maybe do an elimination diet ? Just a thought, especially when you mentioned the red wine. Keep us posted ....
Avatar f tn I have a case of eczema that has been manageable for sometime now. I have plans to be snorkeling and swimming in the ocean and am concerned about possible reactions to the salt water. What should I expect? Any information would be helpful.
Avatar f tn Cause for eczema could be use of perfumes, creams, food items provocating allergy, dry climate, adequate moisturizing, avoid smoking, dehydration, sun burn or wind burn, certain medications like antiacne drugs etc. I would recommend that you maintain a note of things causing these symptoms, so as to prevent these triggering agents in future. You might require antihistamines, antibiotics if secondary infection is present and if required steroids can also be of use. Hope this helps. Best.
Avatar n tn I have a 7 month old with severe eczema--we have tried a lot of things. We are currently doing the "soak & seal" (aquafore & cereva) and avoiding his food allergies, but he is still extremely itchy. He is taking xyzal 1cc every 8 hours. It seems to come and go on his own. Is there any safe product for infants to help with the itching. Is Sarna Sensitive safe? some drs say it is ok, some say it isn't safe for babies. Thanks so much.
Avatar f tn I do have asthma and a ton of allergies both environmental and food. I am getting allergy shots from my allergy doctor. I’m thinking it’s eczema. Hot water and heat makes it worse.
Avatar f tn its not Eczema
Avatar n tn Ive have eczema all my life and it doesnt seem like eczema. About 2 weeks ago it came up in red lump like spots but they wasnt spots. Just red lumps. I used some fucidin ointment on it that the doctor gave me for infections but it just made the pathc fade a bit and less dry and itchy, and thats with using the cream alot. Then the patch returns within 3 days. What could this be? some type of infection or rash?
Avatar f tn Hi all -- I'm looking for your thoughts on the best tool to track/identify food allergies. I'm suspicious of glutten and msg senstitivites. I was looking at the Food Diary tracker and not sure if it will do what I'd like -- such as suggest ingredients in something that I may not recognize as something to be sensitive to. I'd love something that could report on trends identified, i.e. cracks in corner of my lips whenever I eat x amount of wheat/gluten. Any thoughts?
Avatar f tn When I was 7 years old it started as an allergy then I got older it worsen and turns into wounds.I tried different skin products and medications for my eczema. I dont know if this is eczema tho, everytime in turns red then it turns into wounds. We cant afford surgeries here. Is there a clinic that offers free surgery?
Avatar n tn Hello, Without examination, confirmation of a diagnosis is tough but the symptoms are suggestive of eczema. Eczema is a form of chronic dermatitis (rash).Allergic reaction is one of the important causes of eczema. Allergic reaction can occur to strong soaps, Solvents, chemicals, certain foods, food additives, plants, metals, cosmetics, even urine and faeces of some animals (dust mites). Wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites.
Avatar f tn I have moderate/severe eczema, and I started noticing that whenever my body comes in contact with water (shower, pools, etc.) my eczema worsens and becomes a lot more visible. It's probably normal for this to happen, but I was wondering why does it happen?
Avatar n tn Allergic reaction is one of the important causes of eczema and this can occur to strong soaps, solvents, chemicals, certain foods, food additives, plants, metals, or cosmetics. Psoriasis commonly causes red scaly patches to appear on the skin. Plaques frequently occur on the skin of the elbows and knees or on the extensor aspect of the joint. It is important to keep the area clean and dry. Wash several times with fresh water. Continue with the steroid you are using.
Avatar f tn I've had a similar issue. Do you have eczema anywhere else on the body, like the scalp or hands or arms? It's possible you're starting to get eczema on and around your lips, like I have. In such a case, I have found that vaseline just isn't enough. Eczema is more than what some people think it is, as it is actually a form of skin autoimmune issue. For some people, it can actually get worse than what psoriasis sufferers get, if you can imagine.
