Avatar n tn Some of the typical symptoms of eczema is itchy, flaky, dry skin. If you have these symptoms, it is possible you suffer from eczema. Unfortunately, there's not miracle cure because the flare-ups can be caused by so many things. If you have insurance or other means, see a dermatologist to confirm the skin condition and for prescription-strength corticosteroid creams or ointments. The dermatologist may even recommend a special light therapy for your skin.

Avatar m tn Hi Doctor. My face is red. It looks like a sunburn but I know it is not. No sun. For the last 8 months or so, there would be times where my face is warm to the touch and glowing red. Other mornings, it would be extremely dry and flaky. Even my scalp seems a a little dry. Ive tried everything from changing the foods that I eat to the creams that I use on my face. Im at a loss. Some days Im fine and other days, my face is red and flowing. What are your thoughts? Allergy related?
Avatar n tn Hi Joey, I am 50 years old and have had vitiligo since I was 13. It's extensive and most obvious over the summer months when I tan. I'm caucasian so that helps, but not much. I'm lucky that over the years my face patches have become less pronounced. They have also gotten larger. When I first got vitiligo, back in 1971, most dermatologists did not know what it was. We saw several doctors before one could diagnosis it.

Avatar f tn Now why would eczema break your face out with red bumps? eczema doesn't break out in bumps. Actually has no bumps. 99% of doctors mistake another thing for eczema. Now if you had ACD, then that would explain much more. Allergic contact dermatitis, and not to be confused with contact dermatitis, which doctors do mention. Contact dermatitis is from a contact with chemicals.
Avatar n tn Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone or desonide), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide). Moisturizing is one of the most important self-care treatments for sufferers of eczema.
