910435 tn?1296748610 Does anyone else out there experience general itching? I'd say it's worse on my lower legs, below the knee (shin, calf, etc), behind my knees, armpits, and breasts. It itches so bad, that I will scratch it raw. There are no visible bumps until after I have started scratching a bit. Very strange, but it's quite annoying. I have issues with eczema, and I have steroid cream, but it's a small tube, I can't use it everywhere. I"m not sure what to do about this.
Avatar m tn Yes I have this itchy scrotum. I'm on a medication that causes eczema. I can't stop taking the medication or else I won't have any place to live. The itching is in fact all over my body; but I learned that certain foods causes me to break out in hives in conjuction with the medication. The itching on my scrotum is forever constant. I've tried all kinds of anti-itch medication as well as 1% hydrocortizones. Nothing works on this itch. I mean no oils, lotions, body wash.
Avatar n tn Nerve damage caused by uncontrolled diabetes is associated with itchy skin but so are allergies to fragrances [bath and/or laundry soap], skin conditions such as pruritus [dry skin in seniors], eczema and psoriasis, and so on. Other causes are internal organ disease/failure - kidney and/or liver. Take him to a doctor asap for a thorough evaluation. Hopefully it's something as simple as pruritus not the onset of renal failure.
Avatar f tn I've been having the same itching problem just on the outer thighs and arms. Im waitning to see my dr next week to get it checked out. I was reading something called cholestasis of pregnancy which is an intense itching on hands and feet but sometimes it spreads throughout the body. Hopefully its nothing.
624829 tn?1240755671 Hi When topical corticosteroids do not provide relief, sometimes the doctor may consider prescribing some more potent corticosteroids for some period, in adults with eczema on the scalp, limbs, and trunk or those with chronic/ lichenified eczema. Newer two topical eczema drugs like pimecrolimus (Elidel Cream) and tacrolimus (Protopic Ointment) are reserved only for cases where corticosteroids have not been effective.
Avatar n tn Thank you for your care and responses!! Any idea on the causes for dyshydrotic eczema on finger I am 41 yrs with no skin problems??
Avatar m tn Hello, From the symptoms that you have described it sounds like nummular or discoid eczema. It is a form of chronic dermatitis (rash).Allergic reaction is one of the important causes of eczema. Wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps.

Avatar f tn I have had a lot of itching on and off for several years. Just treated with creme from my gyn. For the past 2 months I have had some bumps with the itch. They start as a small tiny like pimple and then form to a flat reddish purple scar. They have been there for about 2 months. When I do scratch they itch even more. They are located on both sides of my groin / vulva area at the same time. They are not in clusters but there is more than one on each side. Wondering if this may be herpes?
Avatar f tn A lot of the time, itching behind the knees and hips could be because of atopic dermatitis. Otherwise known as ezcema. Your itching the area causes the skin to be funky after. Do your best not to itch. I use a balm bought on amazon but also sold in drug stores for itchy ezcema skin. Aveeno Itching releif balm. Works great. This is info on ezcema. https://www.mayoclinic.
Avatar n tn You could have eczema. Do you have a rash or anything on your legs you could describe? My eczema has been acting up due to dry hot weather. Scratching makes it worse or even if it is a rash or bite it makes those worse too. What does it look like? If it is eczema or a rash you may be allergic to your detergent or something else. Try using fragrance and dye free detergents and other items on your skin. Also, Eucerin , Restoraderm works well to calm down itching.
Avatar m tn It is usually seen in uncircumcised men due to poor hygiene. Other causes are dermatitis, allergies, infection such as candida, gonorrhea etc, eczema. Treatment depends upon the cause of the rash, antibacterial or antifungal .ointments can be prescribed by the doctor. It is important to keep the area clean and also to avoid strong soaps or chemicals which can cause a skin reaction. It is always better to see your doctor who can diagnose and prescribe appropriate treatment for you.
Avatar n tn Eczema always has a rash and this is part of the condition but there is still no explanation as to what causes the itching. The redness seen in the rash is the result of increased blood flow in the area, sometimes caused by the scratching. Eczema inflammation can have many triggers and more about this is being discovered constantly, one area that causes concern is where there is a bacterial infection which can easily be the result of scratching sensitive skin.
Avatar m tn m not sure (I had it once on the back of an arm, very small and not serious) - just wondering if the underarm and labia itching could be related to eczema or if it might be something else. I also have cystic acne which I believe is caused by my hormones, so I wasn't sure if it might be a hormonal problem. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas of what it might be, or had similar experiences. Thank you in advance!
