Avatar n tn Lack of aeration and irritation because of smegma and discharge surrounding the glans penis causes inflammation and edema.More common in uncircumcised males. It is usually caused by poor hygiene in uncircumcised men. The inflammation can be due to infection, harsh soaps, or failure to properly rinse soap off while bathing. One common organism associated with balanitis is a yeast known as Candida albicans.

You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium.
Avatar f tn Hello, First of all was the diagnosis of eczema confirmed for these dry red patches on the nose? This is because eczema often presents with itchy, red, dry and flaky skin. If the rash is non itchy then dry skin or seborrheic dermatitis of the face are important differentials to be ruled out. 2090601 tn?1334515062 Ive heard itching is common, but I was wondering what causes it, what makes it worse, what makes it better?
Avatar f tn If your nipples are itchy, scaly and cracked, you probably have eczema. A steroid cream from your doctor will deal with it. Your doctor will check that it is not scabies, which can cause a similar appearance. Very rarely, eczema of a nipple can signal a cancerous growth beneath. This is uncommon, but it is why you should see your doctor if you have eczema on only one nipple. It occurs mainly in middle-aged or elderly women.
Avatar f tn A rash that comes back over and over on your leg may be atopic dermatitis. Another name for that is eczema. This is common and not serious. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/atopic-dermatitis-eczema/symptoms-causes/syc-20353273 A doctor can easily diagnose this. Dermatologists are the specialty that deals with skin. That guide is pretty comprehensive. Take a look. I have this as well.
Avatar n tn I'm not a doctor. has eczema history. if your rash is reddish with dry skin surrounding and perhaps sometimes blister like, it can be eczema. peeling happens when you over scratch it. can ask for corticosteroids over the counter. Lotions without fragrance, preferably for sensitive skin will keep the dry skin comfortable (St Ive's Intensive Healing Advanced Therapy Lotion helps me a lot; cheap n good). try to keep the skin there breathable with thin cotton clothing at night.
Avatar m tn Hello, I cannot confirm without examination but apart from the possibility of eczema the possibility of seborrheic dermatitis is also there. Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face. This skin disease commonly affects adolescents and young adults, especially in warm and humid climates and is aggravated by sweating and humidity.
Avatar f tn Are you asking if the doctors were wrong, and if the "lichen planus" or "eczema" is really HPV, and if so, could you could have given it your ex? HPV is very, very common in the population -- as another website plainly puts it, "nearly all sexually active people are infected with HPV soon after they become sexually active." There are lots of different kinds of HPV, generally categorized as low-risk and high-risk.
Avatar n tn Food, medications, cosmetics, insect bites, pollen and other plants and sun exposure are common causes. You can apply Calamine lotion on the bumps and take anti-histamines like Cetrizine for it. Viral infections can sometimes cause a non-specific dermatitis which can present as allergic rash but may not be itchy. It is self-limiting and will resolve in 7-10 days without treatment. ref:http://www.allergyasthmazone.
Avatar f tn hi i suffer with eczema and lately for the past few months I have been waking every morning with horrendous breakouts on my skin (face) as it is my face it is heartbreaking and very embarrassing. I work with the public and as you can imagine I'm at breaking point!! every thing I seem to put on my face lately just reacts and causes huge red bumps all over my face it looks absolutely hideous.
Avatar f tn The best thing you can do is to make sure you get a really good lotion - like Gold Bond Triple Threat Anti Itch Medicated Lotion for example and make sure to keep your skin well covered at all times. From what I understand the riba causes a form of eczema. Because we get to dehydrated it is very exasperated. You have to make sure you keep it on all the time and when it starts to get better don't stop or it will come back. AT least that is what worked for me and I had it very badly.

Avatar n tn I also notice the same numbness whenenever I ride my bike after 20 minutes or so. There also is a rash (?) on my index finger than resembles eczema on the backside of the finger and just dry dead skin on the side and palmside of the finger. What could be causing this? What should I do? I do not experience the same numbness with my left hand at all!!

306867 tn?1299249709 I think 2 of the most common causes of relapse are depression and lack of energy. Too many times people are under the impression that after the 7-10 days of withdrawal that they will be good as new (some lucky people are). I just wanted to post this for people just starting this journey. I think if people are made aware that it takes time, they will cut themselves some slack. Be patient with yourself. Energy can be very slow in returning, sometimes a few months.
