Avatar f tn Hi, For some reason there is a corrolation between childhood eczema and a later development of asthma. Adult onset asthma can also develop from untreated/controlled allergies, result from a viral infection (bad cold), chemical exposures (work and household), poor air quality where you live.... There a many other possible non-genetic reasons that one can develop asthma older in life.
Avatar f tn My 7 month son has eczema and has had a rattling in his breathing which gets worse at night for 4 weeks. The doctor has looked at him and says it's coming fro high up which means there's nothing wrong. However i'm worried it's asthma. My brother had it with eczema as a child so there's a family history. He's got an intolerance to cows milk so he only eats soya. He's had a permanent cold since he was about 2 weeks old.
Avatar m tn I had medium severity asthma and atopic eczema as a child, both of which lessened considerably as I got older, becoming non-problematic since I was about 15. I still get the odd flare-up of eczema, usually in Spring, and my asthma management has for a long time consisted of using my ventolin inhaler about 3-5 times a year.
Avatar n tn Sometimes they eliminate asthma by seeing if you respond to asthma treatment. My cough improved after I started on asthma meds. The doc may also schedule you for a methacholine challenge test to verify asthma. I hope you feel better.
Avatar n tn He scratches it alot, and I was told by the doctor to put cortizone on it. Because he had asthma, he more than likely had eczema. About a week later, his little bump turned into a big knot, and you can see it if he turns to the side. It itches more now that it has gotten bigger. I don't think it is eczema, but who am I? I am not a doctor. I was just wondering if anyone had this problem and got a different result from their doctor.
Avatar f tn Okay..since I've been pregnant my eczema has flared up and is extremely uncomfortable. ... does anyone know of any safe remedies I could use?
Avatar f tn It sounds like you do have asthma. Mood swings do make asthma worse, and if you have eczema, the likelihood of getting asthma is really high as they do come hand in hand. I should know, because I have asthma, hay fever and eczema all together. When I was first diagnosed as having asthma, I had a cold that lasted for weeks until I started on a course of inhalers.
569479 tn?1247244001 Hi, This could be an eczema of the skin folds. Eczema is a form of dermatitis, or inflammation of the upper layers of the skin. The term eczema is broadly applied to a range of persistent skin conditions. These include dryness and recurring skin rashes which are characterized by one or more of these symptoms: redness, skin edema (swelling), itching and dryness, crusting, flaking, blistering, cracking, oozing, or bleeding.
Avatar f tn My family had no history of chronic diseases such as diabetes, cancer, or anything of that sort. However, I was born with eczema and asthma, which has subsided with age. Also, I was recently put on Zoloft for mild anxiety due to traumatic events in my life. Otherwise, I have no other medical problems. Am I still qualified to donate my eggs? I really need to make some extra money so I can continue to put myself through school. Thanks!
Avatar f tn I do have asthma and a ton of allergies both environmental and food. I am getting allergy shots from my allergy doctor. I’m thinking it’s eczema. Hot water and heat makes it worse.
Avatar n tn The information you have provided is consistent with the diagnosis of asthma, as your doctors have suggested, and I suspect it may well be the cause of your cough, despite your disclaimer, “we all know our own bodies and that asthma hay fever and eczema all come under the same umbrella, and I don’t and have never had them” That you have not had asthma, in the past, does not exclude the possibility that you have it now.
Avatar n tn Hi I have a severe case of eczema. I flare up extremely bad on face and neck in the winter. Also when I sweat excessively I itch. Is there any help or products I could use to keep me from looking like a frosted flake in the winter months?
Avatar f tn ) challenge is the standard and definitive test for asthma. You are give puffs a methylcoline to try to induce an asthma attack. If you have one, you have asthma and are given albuterol to recover. If you don't have an attack, you look at other potential causes. Not everyone sympotoms are the same. Broncho-constriction is a symptom of asthma. It sounds like you may have exercise induced asthma. Another posibility is a reactive airway disease.

Avatar f tn You need to report if you have taken any suspected drug before this like sulfa drugs. Also any previous history of eczema, asthma, and allergic rhinitis should also be taken in to consideration. Oral anti-histaminic and corticosteroid against prescription, which may help to alleviate these symptoms. I suggest you to consult a dermatologist. Take care and regards.
228494 tn?1244145876 Hello, Firstly, It can be due to vit B deficiency. Take some vitamin B complex for some days and see if your symptoms improve. Secondly, it can be due to atopic dermatitis or eczema("Atopic" refers to a group of diseases where there is often an inherited tendency to develop other allergic conditions, such as asthma and hay fever). Cheilitis(Inflammation of the skin on and around the lips)is often seen in atopic dermatitis. Diagnosed by blood test like RAST.
