im 13 yrs old, girl and i got this rash around my lips that is really irritating me its really itchy and in most cases its red but if i dont put some lip balm on it , it will go red itchy flaky and dry. i got it ages ago thinking it would go away by applying lip balm to it but really the lip balm just stops it from going itchy and dry and its not helping me at all! and it looks like cuts like my skin has come off and its raw PLEASE HELP!

This could be an eczema of the lips.The form of eczema that affects the lips is known as cheilitis. This causes roughness to the lips and can make them very sensitive, causing them to itch.
This eczema starts off with just a few rough patches on both of their lips, sometimes they are difficult to see, however they are painful to the touch.
These rough patches are not normally located inside the mouth, normally they are located where the lip joins onto the normal skin of the face.

I have been getting a red rash around my lips for about 4 years now. They start occurring when Spring comes over and throughout the Summer. I notice that they flare up when I'm in the sun all day or especially every time I'm at the beach or near the beach. The area around my lips get red and my lips feel very raw. There were times where it would get infected and there pus coming out, scaled over, etc. according to the doctor.
In addition to all this, my upper lip has spots on it, and I have a dark ring around my mouth. I think the spots are from sun damage, as my lips were a very light pink when I was younger. The dark ring around my mouth goes away depending on what I eat. Its very irritating to be itchy and dry all the time, and I need a change.
What recommendations do you have for very dry skin and sun damaged lips?
I have eczema on the skin around my mouth and even on my lips. Nothing seems to work. I recently noticed that after eating anything with tomatoes, even ketchup, causes my eczema around my mouth to get worse than it already is. So I have eliminated it from my diet for almost a year now. I have even started using organic toothpaste without fluoride and sodium lauryl sulfate.

after i rubbed it off i put on some neosporin,few of the redness went away but next day i realized my skin began to break and dry again a bit in the same place so i decide to do the same with the neosporin. 2 days later no progression of getting rid of it so today i tried some mosturiezer so far the results are the same.My question is how do i get rid of this?i also realized that the same thing beginning to happen on the skin on the edge on one of my eyebrows.
I've had a similar issue. Do you have eczema anywhere else on the body, like the scalp or hands or arms? It's possible you're starting to get eczema on and around your lips, like I have. In such a case, I have found that vaseline just isn't enough. Eczema is more than what some people think it is, as it is actually a form of skin autoimmune issue. For some people, it can actually get worse than what psoriasis sufferers get, if you can imagine.

One dermatologist suggested that I might try fractal laser on my lips to get rid of the spots on the lips themselves, but I personally am more concerned with the redness and inflammation around my mouth, and it seems to me that the redness around my mouth has been getting worse every year now. My job requires me to be in the sun for numerous hours a day, which I have done for the last 4 years, so maybe the sun has something to do with the condition.

Since it was a rollerball application, I also applied it to my lips too. Now the edges of my lips are red and itchy as well. This is what leads me to believe it might be a fungal infection, not eczema. I don't really have any sort of eye issues in terms of ooziness or anything, although when I took anti-itch eye drops, they hurt.
It's not a makeup allergy. I threw out all my old mascara and got a new one that uses natural ingredients.
This area is also particularly dry with flaky skin, particularly close to the sides of the lips. Sweat and toothpaste cause the redness to increase significantly and produce pain.
The toothpaste I'm using is very strong - Aquafresh Extreme Clean. From the time I began using it the area has become increasingly more irritated. Whenever I'm done brushing my teeth, the area becomes sensitive and the redness increases.
I'm assuming the cause is the toothpaste but would like thoughts.

This could be a part of Cheilitis, which is a medical condition involving inflammation of the lip. Or a bad case of Chapped lips , a condition whereby the lips become dry and possibly cracked. It may be caused by the evaporation of moisture.
Lip balm can often provide temporary relief, though it should not be used extensively. One should avoid licking their lips as saliva contains the enzyme amylase, which can damage the already compromised lip tissue.

Avoid licking the lips as saliva evaporates quickly resulting in them being drier than before. Drink plenty of water and take multivitamin supplements and do not apply lipstick or other cosmetic products for some days. Use a humidifier to moisturize the air in your home and apply shea butter or Vaseline on your lips.
My 11 yr old son has been suffering from "Bozo" mouth for about 2 years. It's always there though it isn't always bright red and painful. He carries around vaseline all the time and when it gets bad he puts triple antibiotic on it. This helps for a few days and then it comes back. He has autism so he already has trouble making friends and this doesn't help. Does anyone have any other ideas on remedies? When it gets bad it is red with what looks like small blisters.
I noticed my neice has dryness around her eye's, on her eye lid and on her neck and forehead, and lips. I don't see her often and so I never noticed this before. She said it happens like this when it get's cold out. What is this and is there anything that she can do about it over the counter, or take something to increase the moisture on her skin. Her eye's look like her chaped lips.
