It also said that flax seed and flax seed oil are high in Omega 3 fatty acids without the worry of mercury. Flax seed flour is good to add to foods in place of some of the flour. It has to be ground or crushed to be used by our bodies. Walnuts are another good source too. I found a good recipe for salmon cakes in Joy of Cooking. Here is the recipe I used.

Avatar n tn Make sure it's Pacific salmon. :) (I am biased..but don't like the taste of Atlantic salmon anyway). I've been eating smoked salmon this entire pregnancy. Granted I am spoiled and originally from Alaska, so I have friends and family bring me fresh salmon they smoked themselves and then jarred. What it comes down to is the pasteurization and making sure meats are all cooked to the proper temperatures. With that, you should be okay.

I am eating a banana with peanut butter and granola and raisins on top:) it fills me up and is delicious.. also, you could try dried fruit, fresh fruits mixed with cottage cheese ( if you like it) and raw veggies.. Avatar f tn Every two hours, I am literally starving as if I havent eaten. But just snack, crackers, rice cakes, yogurt, apple sauce, whatever. I made the mistake up until recently eating everytime and because of it I have gained an obsurd amount. Snacking kind of quiets it and settles your tummy.

Avatar f tn You can so eat fish as long as the mercury levels are low. Tilapia (farm raised), salmon, and tuna (I believe canned is ok but if you eat fillet it has to be once a month). I don't see why you can't eat the skin!

Avatar f tn s recommended to eat about 8 oz of fish per week, but not shark, mackeral, albacore tuna, and a few others that contain high levels of mercury. Salmon, light chunk tuna, shrimp, talapia are just a few that can be eaten during pregnancy. Soft cheeses, like brie or the queso fresco, and blue-veined/moldy cheeses, like some blue cheeses, aren't recommended for consumption. Stick with aged or hard cheeses, such as swiss, muenster, cheddar, etc. Hope this helps.

I am going to a fish restaurant with a few other couples tomorrow night and was wondering if it would be ok to eat fish every so often or at least this once??? I know they say tuna isn't good because of all the mercury, but I don't know where other fish stand. I can only tolerate (but love) mild fish like grouper and snapper.

Avatar f tn I was a junk food / dessert freak before I got preggo! but ever since I for pregnant I cannot stand desserts or basically anything chocolate at all! which I guess is a food thing seeing ad we should be eating healthy! I also LOVVEEEE veggies now! I always want veggies & bananas whereas before I was preggo I didnt like bananas at all and wasnt such a vegetable freak like now!

Avatar m tn Glad you had some fishy fun Molly, I love catching my own, trout or salmon, it's lovely in a parsley sauce, I usually swap them for Chinese take out now as my local Chinese chef loves trout and will give me anything for my freshly caught fish. I will have to try something new with the next one, you've inspired me. Fish balls don't sound to appealing to me, lol.

Avatar m tn Well actually the only risk I can think of was when I was cut myself on a salmon steak bone. The salmon may have engaged in risky behavior while migrating north to reproduce. Never trust anyone with a name like Sockeye anyway!
