eating

Avatar f tn Anything with carbs is going to spike your blood sugar. If your trying to stabilize blood sugar, I would recommend eating lots of protein and vegetables. As for carbs, choose the healthy carbs or brown rice and more slow digesting carbs. That way your blood sugar won't rise as high or fast. I'm type 1 diabetic and pregnant, so u have been testing blood sugar like crazy for a good amount of my life.
Avatar f tn ll let you know if you are eating properly. If they are to high even when eating low crb and no sugar, then the doctor needs to adjust your meds.
1058898 tn?1275675151 Your doctor is uninformed and irresponsible to be allowing your blood sugar to go so high without advising you to do anything. As Zoelula said, it is your health. It is up to you. Get yourself educated and get it under control. Else there will be consequences. This is the plain and ugly, but necessary truth!
Avatar m tn It also implies that you are eating whatever you want to eat and need to stop, think, and start self-prevention therapy to halt further glucose increases by not consuming sugary foods or liquids, stop eating white foods [white bread, white rice, potatoes, pasta], lower your carb intake and do some sort of physical exercise after eating to help burn off the excess glucose. Weight control is just as important too.

Avatar f tn If you have done these things and are seeing numbers like that your diabetes is very out of control and you do need meds. My suggestion would be to get referred to an endocrinologist who is a specialist in diabetes and get on the regimen of diet, exercise, weight loss and medication that is going to get those numbers in control.
Avatar n tn Good afternoon. I have been diagnosed with Type II Diabetes for about 5 years now...I think I had the problem well before that but I had a doctor who would never run the test (just lose some weight, etc). I'm not very good about keeping my levels under control because I get so discouraged that I just give up from time to time.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your help! I appreciate your feedback! I was wondering about the reactive hypoglycemia and if that's what it could be. This lower blood sugar after eating didn't start until my blood sugars were under the normal limits all throughout the day. I realize it wasn't that low but it was lower than what I was used to. Also, I was wondering if you might know about normal insulin levels? She checked my insulin level and it was 6, she said 0-25 was normal???
Avatar f tn Your doctor says you are developing diabetes, did he mention fasting blood glucose above 125 is diabetes? I hope you are on some kind of plan to control blood sugar.
Avatar f tn I am also having trouble with low blood sugar. My blood sugar goes from 44 to 255. I know normal is 80-120 . At the Diabetes clinic they said if mine dropped from 50-70 to take gluclose tabs, 8, but my body is reacting like a normal one. I take 4 at 44 which is life threatening low. I also notice that lately it's dropping after I eat which I don't understand. This discussion is related to Blood sugar drops after eating.
Avatar n tn All of my number are ok EXCEPt my fasting blood sugar. I'm not in any medication.
Avatar n tn I'm a newly recovering alcoholic (sober 92 days) and my blood sugar control is becoming unmanageable. I realize that I am craving sugar to replace alcohol, and I do give in some, but my sugars are outrageous. Even without eating sweets, I am finding days where I am in the 500s for no apparant reason. And it takes a lot of insulin to regulate.
Avatar n tn Could he be running high at night for his average to be up? I also know that at times he does check his sugar before bedtime and it's in the 60's. Is there anything he can do to avoid going on oral agents and insulin? Also, what do you think about cinnamon and other herbs?
752468 tn?1237560359 t even talked to a doctor yet, but we want to get a jump on this. Hopefully we can control it with diet, but will he need medication right away with such high numbers? I worry that he will not comply as he has bad eating habits. This is going to be my quest in life now...to keep him healthy. Any advice??
Avatar n tn What are some ways you guys remember to test your blood sugar? I often forget and then am high.

Avatar m tn Hi Bhaity, My suggestion is to replace the battery on your blood sugar testing machine, and to modify your diet to eat less carbs and sugars and control how much alcohol and snacks you consume. This should go a long way towards helping blood sugar and your overall health. You could also see your Dr. for a checkup so you can assess your baseline health condition.
Avatar n tn However at this range it is also better to start with medications for diabetes to bring down the blood sugar levels. Please consult an endocrinologist for the same. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar m tn For diabetics, their body does not respond to the elevated blood glucose adequately. They need to control their blood sugar with changes to diet and exercise and often medication. Do you take any medications for your blood glucose? If you do not understand what changes you need to make, you should speak to your doctor about what is recommended for you specifically. Your doctor may have a sample diet menu or be able to recommend a nutritionist to help you understand the proper diet.
Avatar f tn You will be given two choices, either continue increasing dosage of medication to control your blood sugar, from a few pills a day to one day injecting yourself with insulin, or you can adopt a way of eating that will naturally keep your blood sugar low and steady and ween yourself off medications completely. Unfortunately, big pharma would rather keep you on the increasing meds journey, but reversing and cancelling type 2 diabetes is very possible, I have done it myself.
