eating

Avatar n tn Hi all, thanks in advance for your time. I'm an 18 year old female, last summer I went on a "diet" of 1200 calories a day, measured everything I ate, and burned about 600 calories (running for an hour or 50 mins) 6 days a week. I also did full body exercises + weights 4-5 days a week. At the end of the summer I had dropped 10 pounds but my hair started to fall out like crazy and I had explosive diarrhea (sorry about the detail) for 2-3 weeks.
Avatar f tn s just that the molecules of muscle are packed much tighter than the molecules of fat, so a pound of muscle takes up less space than a pound of fat. You may be eating the wrong things, or maybe 1600 calories is too many for you to be eating. Did you calculate your actual calories needs, based on your height, weight, age and activity level?
Avatar n tn There are a lot of things you can do to lose weight. One good thing to start with is water. Drink a lot of water. First thing in the morning before your shower? Knock back a glass of ice water. Before each meal? Drink a glass of ice water. Throughout the day, keep a water bottle near you and drink often. The cold ice water before meals kind of helps your stomach shrink up a bit before eating, making you more full faster. Obviously, you'll have to watch what you eat.
Avatar m tn ve not eaten dinner yet) ive only reached 1000 (minus about 500 from excercise) calories. I ate a lot more than usual today too. Is this right? Should I really be eating that much to gain the weight? Some advice would really be appreciated! Thanks!
Avatar f tn carbs like grapes and cherries, fruit juices and processed grains in bread and pasta which can slow your metabolism down. By eating the right combination of foods for your Body Type, you’ll be able to stop starving, start eating more and lose body fat faster than you ever thought possible.
Avatar m tn d be productive to build muscle as well. Keep in mind that muscle is smaller than fat. I pound of muscle takes up almost half as much room as fat. You dont want your child to be packing on unhealthy weight. Is your child diabetic by chance, and have your health care professionals looked into that?
7758733 tn?1402589420 Being pregnant, diets are not really encouraged, but when I think of eating right I always have diet in the back of my head as a guideline, like not a lot of bread, don't eat after 8 pm etc. My question is what's the difference? What should I be more cautious of or what is not so costly since I am growing a human being. I ask because I love to eat, lol pregnant or not pregnant. I just want to find a common ground of being satisfied and eating right. Sounds fat?
Avatar f tn I'm almost 14 weeks and am having the hardest time eating. Either nothing sounds or tastes good, or I'm just not hungry. I've lost weight since getting pregnant instead of gaining and I feel like it's getting worse. Any advice?
Avatar f tn Have plenty of vegetables, fruits and fiber and also try to meditate before every meal and make sure you are not falling into what is called emotional eating where people eat without even noticing and end up eating too many calories per meal Then add a Physical strength training workout that will help you when you lose the weight to not fluctuate-If you jsut do cardio and burn calories you may fall into the yo yo diets putting more weight back on.
Avatar f tn I'm 35 weeks and I feel like I'm over eating. I don't seem to get full though. Usually I hear most women losing their appetite when theyre close to the end. But everyone is different right?
Avatar n tn Your weight is right for your height. Gaining weight will nto do anything for you, but exercise will. Lifting weights...etc.
Avatar f tn But I recently started going back about 1 month ago and I think I am gaining some muscle back too bc I am starting to look more toned again and my bump is looking more like there's a baby in there! I know that we aren't supposed to worry about weight but it's definitely hard! I've never weighed as much as I do now in my entire life and I am so worried about trying to loose it all after I give birth.
Avatar f tn You might be lossing inches without lossing lbs. the gain in weight may be muscle, not fat.
Avatar f tn I am right along with you! I ate 4 tacos today and took a nap, just like a fat person lol. I woke up 30 mind later and told my husband I was hungry and he was like you just ate lol. I guess I will be gaining a lot of weight because I get hungry frequently.
Avatar f tn I know, today most all women and teenagers ask "how to loose weight" but because of my genetics, I'm very small. I've tried gaining weight, and eating more food, but it won't stick. I'm 16 years old, and I know I'm not done growing. and to be honest, I don't really want to get fatter, I just want to gain some healthy weight. I know exercise can help me get in shape, but I don't have enough calories to burn to do exercises.
Avatar m tn I'm a female and have a very high metabolism. Ive been working out everyday for about 6 months (minus the break day once a week) Ive seen muscle gain and toning but no added weight... im still 80 pounds! I workout a solid 30 minuets on my legs and usually try to eat more everyday. I drink a fruit smoothie everyday and after workouts i eat a peanut butter sandwich and oatmeal I just don't understand why im not gaining any weight.
Avatar n tn You might be gaining weight because you're gaining muscle. If your clothes fit better, even if you're gaining weight, that's a good sign that you're swapping out fat for muscle. I did the Ultrametabolism Diet last year and liked it a lot. It teaches you how to eat healthy and increase your metabolic rate naturally, rather than dieting in the sense of calorie restriction. There's a book called the Ultrametabolism Diet if you're interested in trying it.
Avatar m tn Hi Paxiled glad to read your comment you are absolutely right but we all are known that health is wealth gaining weight is not a goal of a person if a person eats only unhealthy foods in future they have suffer a lot of problems such as Diabetic, Cholesterol level problem, and many other hearts disease problem a persons goal is to live healthy life, not an unhealthy life. Eat lots of protein being a person healthy eating potato or other items increase a fat level.
Avatar m tn m hoping to make up the loss. Been eating like crazy, drinking protein shakes, and light exercise concentrated on muscle mass but not much has come back. Thanks. Guess i'm tired of the "you really have lost weight" comments from people.
Avatar n tn I was packing on some muscle, and looking smaller (since muscle is smaller than fat) but gaining weight. I started to eat smaller and more frequently (I am also diabetic, type 2) loaded up on protein and comsumed my alloted carbs in far smaller doses right before and right after my routine and mixed it with some protein. Looks as if I am starting to lose again, but have not hopped on the scales because my doctor told me my weight wanst an issue unless I made it one.
Avatar n tn Please don't think I'm being sarcastic, I'm not. The way to gain weight is to eat more than you're eating now. Now, you can get larger in places without gaining weight if you put on muscle through resistance training of some sort, but gaining weight is just a matter of eating more than you burn.
Avatar m tn Muscle mass is from protein, not carbs. Carbs are for quick energy and antioxidants, but the carb category includes a vast array of foods -- fruit, vegetables, grains (which are a blend of protein and carbs). There are simple carbs and complex carbs. Her weight may be what's right for her, but if she does put on muscle that will put on healthy weight.
Avatar n tn re gaining is actually fat or muscle. Muscle has more density than fat. So, even if you gain muscle mass, you might observe an increase in weight. Also the rate at which you are gaining muscle mass might be greater than the rate of loss in body fat. Hence, you should not entirely depend on a weighing scale to assess your progress. You should get your body fat regularly tested along with taking measurements of your chest, waist, hips, arms and thighs.
