Eating raw ginger root

Common Questions and Answers about Eating raw ginger root

Avatar f tn Of those three things, the onion would do me in eating it raw but lots of people do like raw onion. I think the quantity you mention is a lot to eat by itself in the morning but you can try it and see how you do. Otherwise, I'd think of a concoction you can make. Example--- could you cook some egg whites and make them garlic, onion and ginger egg whites? I've never pickled ginger--- would probably be really good. Is that like what you eat with sushi (which I love that kind of ginger)?
Avatar m tn Actually, you're basically just eating a lot of ginger flavored liquid. Ginger is best taken raw for medicinal purposes, either in tincture or capsule form or brewed lightly in a tea, or juiced, depending on what you're using it for. So you're getting some benefit from this ginger reduction, but by cooking it as much as you do most of the medicinal effect is gone.
Avatar n tn So that means only ginger root powder and the alcohol extract of ginger root would be useful. Eating hard woody pungent raw ginger root would be tough, and you must consume four times as much of the fresh root than the ginger root powder. To be sure that the product is useful it would be best if it actually guaranteed that it had gingerol in it.
Avatar n tn I too have a raw stomach from eating raw veggies. I also have trouble digesting nuts now. I get a terrible feeling of dread after eating nuts. My stomach struggles and keeps me up at night with a reflexive action. I have been told that the stomach weakens from emotional turmoil. But, I think that diet can have a lot to do with the stomach weakening anyway. Chinese Medicnine recommends warm foods always. It takes heat to digest food in the stomach.
Avatar n tn Right now it's an area starting at my spine below my ribcage, and wrapping around my side to the front a bit. It's a sensation that my skin is raw, as if it's been scraped or carpet-burned. Any contact with the area feels exactly as if I'm touching raw tender skin (probably less painful) and the discomfort seems to be just skin-deep. There is never a rash or injury of any kind, and I can't trace it to any kind of lifestyle thing, activity, detergent, etc.

Avatar f tn Instead, eat small meals made up of plenty easy-to-digest foods. Eat steamed vegetables, raw salad greens, raw fruits, and bitter greens. The bitter greens, especially, help to cleanse the liver. Eat whole, raw, unsalted nuts and seeds for their essential fatty acids as well as their usable protein. Avoid eating heavy, fatty foods since they just create more work for the liver. Avoid margarine, shortening or commercial oils or any foods made with them.
Avatar n tn I have the exact same symptoms. Within a half hour of eating I get this weird dizziness/drunk feeling, nausea and sometimes headaches. I was tested for Celiac disease because my symptoms matched almost perfectly--came back negative. The only test that has come back positive was mild gastritis and acid reflux via endoscopy. I was prescribed Pariet for that and thought maybe that was the cause so I quit taking them for a while but symptoms continued. My dr. is puzzled as to what it could be.
Avatar f tn Sounds like you have dermatitis herpatiformis. Also, I would cut out eating sugar, except organic sparingly; I use raw honey. And no dairy and see if this helps. Get checked for celiac disease. If you can eat only organic. I was checked, but refused the biopsy (endoscopy) because I know from my body I am very sensitive to gluten. This started with me 3 years ago . I can stop the itching if I do these things I mentioned. It's got to related to all the GMO's, and processed foods we eat.
Avatar f tn Try chewing on a piece of raw ginger root. Ginger ale and saltine crackers help too. Try to keep water in your system so you don't dehydrate. Motherhood maternity has these things called preggy drops that help with nausea, they are like jolly ranchers. And If you have a walgreens or cvs pharmacy around look into getting pedialyte popsicles.
Avatar f tn You might have to switch around a bit to find one that really helps. Also, try some ginger; if you can buy some raw ginger root, try steeping a tea from it, or adding some to a cup of green tea, perhaps; this helps some folks all by itself.

120574 tn?1240771440 I believe that both can be bought at health food stores in capsule form, but we just use the raw spices and Leslee buys ginger root and boils it up for her tea. She has been doing so well now for 6 months, ever since the flare up of the Doxil side effects, that she will change nothing in her diet. She is on a diet now to lose that chemo weight, the lost pounds are definitly helping her joint pain. Counts coming down, lesions getting smaller, and feeling just great.
Avatar m tn I can't imagine chewing on ginger root...but the ginger tea helps me quite a bit.....and u do need to modify diet and lifestyle in order to help the meds.

Avatar f tn Sometimes flatulence can also be cause by a tummy bug. Make sure that you wash your hands after using the toilet and before eating food.
Avatar f tn Ginger root tea is a very common and old traditional remedy for nausea that has been used for millennium, and it is effective. Start a small pot of water boiling on the stove. I just use my smallest sauce pan. While you're waiting for the water, cut off or break off a section of ginger. You may want to start off with about a one inch section of ginger, then adjust to taste. Use a paring knife to peel the tan skin off of the piece of root you are preparing.

Avatar m tn You can try raw ginger root or candied ginger for the nausea.
535822 tn?1443980380 (5) When your stomach becomes unhappy, stay away from the Tums and try something healthier. Ginger root is one such choice. Only a few dare chew on a ginger root. It's usually converted into a tea by peeling the root and cutting it into thin slices. Make enough thin slices to cover the bottom of a pan, fill the pan with good non-fluoridated water from reverse osmosis. Simmer for 30 minutes after boiling. It can be refrigerated for several days.

Avatar f tn The best thing to do is to supplement your diet with things like DGL, aloe vera, ginger root, and stomach enzymes. Of course, unless you do some lifestyle changes, all these will be bandages, at best. The point is you should help your body heal itself. Don't hinder it by eating the wrong foods, smoking, not exercising, and being overweight. (You may be doing all the right things now, so these are just some general suggestions. Don't think I'm presuming you don't exercise or are overweight.
Avatar f tn Ginger is a life saver! You can get Ginger root, pickled Ginger or they have these things at health food, organic and mommy stores called Ginger chews (I personally thought.they were too big and would only eat half.) As far as the acne goes wash with an antibacterial soap or something that's oil free.

1462810 tn?1327364049 If Adam and Eve were to look at it and not be able to say what it was I quit eating it (even ground up, otherwise healthy foods)... Whole foods (well, I mean, I did chop them), simply cooked. I then switched from other sugars (including honey) to raw agave and palm (coconut) sugar (other sugars make me CRAVE sweets). I've never used artificial sweeteners. I just never trusted them. When I accidentally ingest aspertame it does terrible things to my bladder.
