Avatar f tn Your body is prone to homeostasis. The human body is a wondrous thing that will adapt to a diet, the theory being that this is what stalls weight loss for many people who follow low-calorie diets. When you decrease your calories for a low-calorie diet, your body produces hormones to regulate metabolism and lipid oxidation; this process then slows how efficiently your body burns calories.
Avatar f tn In reality, the glucose that enters the cells is intended to be used for energy, not to be converted to fat. It's when the glucose isn't used for energy, as in the kid (or adult) who does nothing but sit and eat candy, that the insulin, then shuttles it into fat cells to be stored for later energy.

Avatar m tn m concerned that, for example, you thought eating fat would make you lose weight. Avocado oil and coconut oil are noted more for not being as harmful as once thought than having any proven benefits, and adding fatty oils to your diet is not going to cause weight loss. The point was if you were eating more harmful fats and substituted a moderate intake of these fats you would be better off.

Avatar n tn You have to eat fewer calories than you burn if you want to lose weight! Protein-rich foods keep the hunger away. And the fuller you feel between meals, the easier it is to avoid binge eating. A daily whey protein shake with either berries or a banana and ice and water will help keep the hunger away. I recommend buying whey CONCENTRATE not isolate!! concentrate is healthier. when dieting you can't just lose weight at your belly or back. google exercises for the core.
Avatar f tn my head use to be a little bigger I had fuller cheeks my temples looked in place now it looks sunken. I can feel my cheek bones.
Avatar f tn I tried a crash diet a few years ago, yes I lost a lot of weight very quickly, but like what others have said, I also gained it back just as fast as when I lost it. Definitely not a good idea, because either way you'll probably end up in the same boat of trying to lose it again. Though I do have to agree with others that you're fine as is, don't see a need for you to lose anything.
Avatar f tn With cutting on diet one may initially lose weight but this may remain static or increase later due to fat accumulation. When one cuts down on calories, the body sends a signal to the brain which in turn turns on the ‘stress hormones’ and the body switches into the ‘starvation mode’ and paradoxically one may notice no change in weight or an increased weight and fat accumulation.
Avatar f tn If I go on a starvation diet what will my body do I need to lose lots of weight!
Avatar f tn The way I won the battle was to eat in a way that does not make my blood sugar spike, and which would also keep my insulin secretion controlled as well. The eating plan us calked LCHF, which is low fat, moderate protein and high fat. And there are no gimmicks, pills, powders, bars, etc...just real food. Best part is that no calorie counting, eat until full. Also, it canceled my cravings and I no longer snack anymore.
Avatar f tn You have to realize that you need to burn 3500 calories to lose just one pound. For my weight and height, I need about 1800 calories to maintain my weight. By eating 1000 calories a day, I am at a deficit of 800. That's a little more than 4 days to lose 1 pound. It's all about math. Eat healthy to get the nutrients you need, count your calories, and exercise. If you don't have it already, try the my fitness pal app; it's wonderful! Good luck!
1102792 tn?1285925260 I used the Volumetrics program, which you can do on your own by using the book, The Volumetrics Eating Plan. I had to greatly reduce the amount of processed food that I was eating. I started buying more raw groceries and cooking most of my food. Now, I am very happy with the way I eat, because I feel so much better. My sense of taste has changed. Now I can appreciate natural food, without the added salt, suger, and fat that is found in the processed foods that I used to eat.
Avatar f tn If you ever heard that by eating low-fat or no-fat foods you can lose weight, well in reality, that’s just half the story. Most people, when trying low-fat diets, go to the store and start reading labels and look for zero-fat products. Well, what if you love spaghetti – on the label it says, “zero fat.” So then you start looking at the spaghetti sauce and it has almost no fat... and then there’s the “no-fat” cakes and cookies – and all that other stuff.
660974 tn?1248272668 ll throw in my 2 cents that you are probably not eating enough for the amount of exercise you are doing. Sometimes you have to eat a bit more in order to allow your body lose fat. How tall are you, how much do you weigh? Have you used the BMI calculator? This will help a lot. On any meds that could contribute to weight gain? Add the Food Diary and the Exercise Tracker, and be aware of how many calories you are expending vs taking in.
