Avatar f tn Morning erections are not a sign of anything. Mostly we get them when we're young and then we don't get them much anymore, although obviously people do differ. So don't worry about those, they're irrelevant. But yeah, if you're tired all the time, you might have trouble doing all sorts of things, and erections might be one of them, although there's certainly no guarantee this is so.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with Graves Disease last year, had the radioactive iodine treatment and now take synthroid. I am thinking about taking a night shift job and was wondering when I should take the medication. Is it ok to take it at variable times, depending on if I am working or not? Always take it in the afternoon? Or split the dose? I am concerned about my energy level at night if I continue to take it in the morning and also wonder if I will be able to sleep during the day.
1151133 tn?1271666188 I worked third shift for a few years. It doesn't really matter when you eat but what and how much. The only problem I can see having is it's easy to pick during work and night shift has more potlucks than any other shift. I also think you have to make sure you get enough sleep which you seem to be doing and make sure you exercise even if you are active. I know it's hard but you can do it.
Avatar f tn I'm just watching tv having my cat keep me company. Hubby is leaving at 11:30 he works an over night shift until 8am.. so it's just me tonight/: I gots no friends either lol.
Avatar n tn Hi, You say he's fine when he works during the day but the reverse working nights. That fits no pattern I'm aware of as depression isn't 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off. It's full time or no time. There is no doubt though that the disturbance to sleep patterns is a critical factor in a developing depression. Regular and erratic sleep patterns will likely develop and my guess on what you've told us is that he hasn't adjusted to the night time work needs as yet.
Avatar n tn I work night shift (about 14 hours a night) at the home of a 92 year old woman. I find it hard to stick to foods that are healthy, because she does shopping and gets her feelings hurt when I don't eat the food she buys for me. POPCORN is my love and enemy! I keep telling myself to stop eating it (because I'm slightly a binge eater) but I do every time and sometimes o go for a second bag. How do I overcome this binge eating and stop wanting to shove my face full of carbs and salt?!
Avatar f tn Ask if you can eat your meal before you start your shift, for if you can take a break during your shift to eat. If those aren't options, take something with you to eat between when school gets out at 3:00 and your shift starts at 4:30. You should be getting out of school for the summer, now, so you should have any trouble finding time to eat before you go to work.
Avatar f tn I know how you feel, i work nights one week then i am off the next so it is hard to get on a good eating schedule. One week i am eating dinner when i get up and breakfast when i am going to bed, and the opposite the next. The way i lost 30 lbs last year was portion control and exercised 5 days a week, and i ate anything i wanted good luck maybe i need to do that again i need to lose a lot of weight!

997993 tn?1290751148 As far as what I've tried so far.... I quit drinking coffee right after I found out and eleminated a lot of caffine since then. I've tried eating something and not eating something before I go to bed. I used to be a heavy sleeper before this and I wake up so much easier which is not good if you have to sleep during the day. I have a dark bedroom and the temperature is ideal too. Those crazy dreams go on every time I sleep...
Avatar f tn I think it made it sleeping at night easier for the baby, but I don't have anything to compare it with. My kid was just an easy sleeper. I have heard that the reason babies are usually up all night is because that's when you were sleeping while pregnant and when they we're awake. And when you are a ale and moving, they are jostled to sleep. By that logic, our nocturnal schedule will make it easier for baby to sleep at night. I hope that made sense.
Avatar f tn You're working the overnight shift and care what your eyes look like? Enough to threaten people? Whooo girl. Take a deep breath. It's gonna be fine.
Avatar f tn Eating bad food is often a sign of other possibilities outside of just habit. The body does develop a kind of 'addiction' to the composition of bad foods. Poor food choices leads to deficiencies which then lead to eating more and if you are eating bad foods it's a cycle. If you start making better selections for your body you will need to give yourself time to adjust. Your body will need to shift chemically and shift its preferences while your mind has to shift as well.
Avatar m tn I would say the simplest answer is probably the most likely. Your accomodation is a pain in the butt for him, perhaps other workers have complained it isn't fair. The easiest solution for him is if you cave and everyone follows the new system like good little ants. So he is being a jerk about it. However you need these accomodations, so hold your ground. Because the reality is if you go crazy you will screw up your job and give them a reason to fire you. Keep notes.
Avatar m tn At my work, I've been told that we have to do three month rotations on night shift, I'm a nurse. From everything I've heard and read, that could be a bad thing for someone who's bipolar. Should I be worried? What do I do? Is my doctor able, if I need them to, to write a note saying this would be a bad idea?
Avatar m tn Yes, your test is inaccurate. They should have adjusted WHEN you took the dex (which should have been late at "night" for you and the blood should have been drawn "early in the morning" for you.
Avatar f tn When I had my 1st son, I worked 10pm-7am. I would come home, stay up a few hours then get up around suppertime, make food, eat and lie back down til I had to get ready. My bf has severe anxiety and can't work so I figured that nights would be easier first him with the baby. I hardly got 2 spend time with my family and was always exhausted. I ended up having to take depression meds and eventually starting missing work time spend time with my son. It was a hard time for me.
Avatar f tn Any other shift workers that are having trouble sleeping? I need to be able to sleep for my safety and others. I've tried to take warming baths with lavender and non-stimulating activities. I can't drink warm milk and I don't drink caffeine at all. I try not to drink an hour before bed if possible. I am desperate for any thing that has helped others get better quality sleep! I need more than 3-4 hours of sleep in 48 hours!
Avatar f tn I have been waking up in the middle of the night for the last 12 years and eating, sometimes without remembering. I hate the way I feel after I do this. I am considering going to a hypnotist. Could this work?
Avatar m tn Got it . Thanks, food first, then meds, no longer than 30 min after eating.
Avatar n tn After I would get finished eating, I would vomit evrything I had ate during that meal, I didnt really feel nautious, it just comes up directly after eating. this has gone on for the past month or so and I am very concerned because I am starting to lose weight, and eating is something I love to do, but sometimes I will eat and be fine, I work a 3rd shift job, and when I eat there I do not vomit, could it have anything to do with eating at night, rather than day?
Avatar f tn I bought those pressure stockings from the pharmacy and wore them every night and tried to prop my legs up against the wall and it was salads and baked fish for me there on out. They went down but scared me senseless.
Avatar n tn I'm so happy my husband finally got a better paying job.. but it's night shift :/ I miss him at nights.. and I go to school during the day while he stays home and sleeps! I really wish we could stay together all day but its best for our 2 kids!! I'm so sad :// anybody else have this problem??
1301089 tn?1290666571 03 AM Chrysler may have accepted millions in a federal bailout to stay in business, but now it has a scandal on its hands because of carloads of dope-smoking, beer-drinking workers on a shift break near a Detroit plant. WJBK Fox 2 News in Detroit caught dozens of Chrysler auto workers drinking alcohol and smoking what appear to be joints during their shifts at the automaker's Jefferson North auto plant in Detroit. The full video from WJBK is here.
Avatar f tn You can take it at whatever time works best for you, as long as you haven't eaten for a few hours, to make sure your stomach is empty when you take it.
1532707 tn?1312155924 I was wondering if any of you have been working graveyards? I may be getting a better job I'm going to give it a shot if they give me one, But it would be graveyards...Normally I'm a 7am-9pm kind of person and if it gets much past nine I turn into a pumpkin, Do you have any tips? or ideas?
