Avatar f tn m new to MedHelp, but I have been diagnosed with CD for about 16 years (wrongly diagnosed prior to that with IBS). I have struggled for so long with weight! Recently, I started seeing a nurse practicioner about this, and she is treating me for insulin resistance and put me on Metformin. Since then (June) I have lost about 23 pounds. It is incredible! Now, I will tell you that, for me, it does have some very real bowel side effects, BUT (no pun intended)....
Avatar f tn Hi Heather, WELCOME TO MEDHELP! I'm not an expert on MS. I'm thinking your symptoms "could" be related to MS". Here is an article you might want to check out: http://www.publix.com/wellness/notes/Display.do?id=Concern&childId=Vitamin_B12_Deficiency I've been reading up on B-12 lately, that is why I'm responding to your post. What I read was that older people have trouble absorbing B-12 because their sm.
1348686 tn?1310654243 Does anyone else with IBS get really full after eating? Even if it is just a little bit of food? I went to the gastro last night because lately I have been having a lot of abdominal pain and fullness after eating. He thinks it is my IBS because I have also been really gasey. However I have never had the fullness before and I was concerned that it could be something else. He did prescribe some meds and if I am not better in a month he is going to do an endoscopy....
Avatar f tn Thank you so much Julia for your information. And you too Heather. I also take Baclofen, Tramadol, and Celexa at night. If I just can't get to sleep, I have AmbienCR that I cut in half and take one. I am planning 2 vacations this summer, one to Florida in June to visit my daughter, which won't be too busy, but one in July to Cheyenne Frontier days, which will involve a LOT of walking and events for 5 days.
246236 tn?1275478902 Glad it's going well. So far, so good. I guess I wasn't understanding. Have you been without treatment for a while because of the disabling (for you) side effects? Sometimes my blond hair gets in my way of comprehension.... I really am so dizzy today!
Avatar f tn I (thought) I tipped it back up, reached for the bedside lamp, which kept moving out of my reach, silly light, I finally got it on, cat was sleeping just fine on pillow, headboard was where it belonged. Everytime I closed my eyes I saw different cartoons and movies. Yes, I'm totally serious. My wallpaper, which I don't have, kept shifting into squares. I swear, I wasn't taking LSD! I think this is from the Avelox antibiotic the ENT Specialist gave me for the acute sinusitis.
Avatar f tn I am doing okay. Thank you for asking. My pain level is increasing, so since I have just been through the stress of losing my father several weeks ago, two bouts with the flu and I think it might be flair up time. Hopefully since I take Copaxone, it will be a mild attack. I noticed that most of my problems are in my legs and that may account for what happened to me the other night. My spinal lesion may be acting up and causing the lower body symptoms. But all in all, I am okay.
164435 tn?1377102256 HEY THERE KITT, I'M NOT FEELING WELL TONIGHT AND AM HEADING TO BED SHORTLY, BUT I DIDN'T WANT YOU TO WORRY ABOUT HEATHER NOT RESPONDING. SHE HAD TO GO BACK TO MARYLAND FOR HER FATHER'S BURIAL. I KNOW SHE WILL BE BACK ON WHEN SHE GETS BACK.
Avatar f tn Heather, I love the pool. That's one reason I bought my Condo, has it's own pool. And the weekdays, I'm usually the only one in it, as I use it from about 10:00 am to 1:00pm. I started out by just walking, all I could do. Then adding stretching when standing about waist deep. Then added swimming. At first I could only swimm across the pool and back. By the end of summer, I could swimm about 10 laps without a break. It didn't cure anything, but I felt better!
Avatar n tn The only thing that works is not eating in the morning. This has been happening for about 2 years now but i really havent done anthing about because it was never really a big problem.
Avatar n tn I have apparently had IBS for about 4 years now. Im in my early 20's and it seems to be getting gradually worse. I have just started taking dicitel, which seems to help only a little bit. I was diagnosed with IBS just by being questioned by my doctor. Does anyone know how accurate a diagnosis is without any tests? Does anyone know what tests are the most useful or what ones I should ask for?
Avatar f tn I know there are many differnet meds they can prescribe for IBS. I take 3 different meds and they stabilize the IBS but I am also lactose intolerant and still eat dairy bit with caution and that could give me a nad IBS attack (what I call them). They are very painful. There is a med that they have for stomache cramps, you might ask for them. I dont know the name off the top of my head but it is belladonna something.
Avatar n tn Within an hour of eating, I get very bad gas pains in my stomach. It doesn't matter what type of food it is. Is this a normal HEP C symptom? This discussion is related to HepC and gastro trouble.
Avatar f tn First, you IBS is probably not tied to these foods. Also, not to be a nit-picker, but corn is a grain, not a vegetable, and zucchini is a fruit, also not a vegetable. The importance of this is in both your IBS and the nutrients you might not be getting by not eating true vegetables. Corn can be a troublesome food for many, as it's a common allergen and also contains a lot of sugar. Carrots are great cooked and raw -- cooked they have more carotenoids, raw more fiber.
Avatar f tn delivered my 4th daughter and the pelvic bone never went back into place and later caused symptoms of Fibromyalgia in which one of the symptoms of that IBS....I HAD IT so bad that sometimes for a day and a half every couple of days, the pain was as though I was ready to deliver....that was in 87....now these year5s later....I know how to control those things and it is nothing that we all haven't heard before....ALMOST..... STRESS.....The biggest factor in the poo with pain department....
Avatar m tn I am also diabetic and have polycystic ovarian syndrome and suffer from IBS. Today I noticed there was bright red blood on my toilet paper after having a bowel movement. I have been eating alot of popcorn lately and raw vegetables recently. I am just needing advice. Can eating those food cause lower intestinal bleeds? I do not have health insurance and am very broke so I do not want to go to the doctor unless it's really necessary. Please help?
Avatar f tn What types of food are you eating for dinner? I was diagnosed with IBS when I was 13, and it took a few years for me to figure out that my trigger is anything greasy. When I have pizza, I have to mop up the grease on the top with paper towels to help. I guess the trigger can be different for other people, so maybe start a journal of what you're eating and which nights you feel sick and which nights you don't.
1462394 tn?1285937517 This is important, because children have different needs than adults. Feeling nauseous when eating sounds an awful like what I went through for a long time, even when I was your age. IBS is definitely affected by food sensitivities. Usually elimination diets are very good at helping a person discover what is actually causing the issues, but you're at an age when eliminating too many calories and certain nutrients is actually a much worse idea than it is for adults.
Avatar n tn I have suffered from IBS/constipation for 15 years. I have tried every over the counter med possible, I have been prescribed medications, I have tried accupuncture, massages, changed diet, and currently I have a colonix once a week. I get so backed up that my stomach swells up to two inches. I am told the reason I am so constipated is because I have no muscle control in my colon. A highly recommended specialist from UAB, formerly from the Mayo Clinic, said I had two options. 1.
