Avatar f tn If pain is shortly after eating, it may be - gastritis or ulcer, dx is with upper endoscopy. - gallbladder related, if the pain is like a cramp holfding her for some minutes or hours, pain occurs after a fatty meal - aneurism of abdominal aorta, dx with ultrasound. Hert beat may be heard through abdominal wall with the stetoscope - stenosis of pylorus - stomach exit. Dx: gastric emptying test or X-ray with barium swallow Where exactly is the pain, can it be felt by pressuring on the spot?
Avatar m tn In 2008, I went into my doctor's office due to a number of gastro symptoms. Those visits yielded the following results: - Malfunctining gallbladder (low HIDA score + stones) - Gastroparesis - GERD - small sliding hiatal hernia I also complained about postprandial back pain in the mid-left back (right about where my stomach and pancreas would be), but was told this was related to my gallbladder. Last year I had my gallbladder removed.
Avatar f tn TODAY Fourteen-year-old Gentrie Hansen, right, was a normal teen until she was struck with gastroparesis — which some doctors misdiagnosed as an eating disorder. “It was really crushing, because I would gladly take some weight and then be healthy and be happy,” Gentrie told TODAY. “That was probably the worst part of this whole sickness, having people keep telling me that you have an eating disorder, and knowing something else was wrong.
Avatar f tn My husband has very severe diabetes. For years it was well over 500. He has neuropathy and can't walk. He has many other complications due to diabeties. One i'm really needing help with right now is, Everything he eats makes him sick. His stomach acts up and he throws it right back up. Is there anything I can feed him that would be gentle on his stomach. Please help.
Avatar f tn I would recommend that you see a gastroenterologist about this and get a gastric emptying scan to look for gastroparesis which is slow emptying of the stomach.
Avatar f tn I just wanted to say that for me, gastroparesis was not a life changing condition and it hasn't been hard to cope with and there are many things to do to help it. However, there are people where gastroparesis is a life changing condition and it is difficult to deal with. I have other medical problems which have changed my life, but the gastroparesis has not changed my day to day life.
Avatar f tn I am 29 yrs and for almost 2 yrs now I have been trying to cope with Gastroparesis but I DO NOT have Diabetes. It's really hard to research because most information relates always to Diabetes 1st which is very misleading for me due to the fact that I do not have Diabetes. I realize most people that suffer from Gastro have Diabetes but WHAT ABOUT ME?...I do not have Diabetes.
Avatar m tn Not really, but often some sort of virus/parasite/etc. can set off gastroparesis. For instance, my gastroparesis was set off by mono.
946915 tn?1271941032 Yes it's true that high fiber and whole grains are healthier, but they are really hard for gastroparesis patients to digest. That's surprising that your doctor didn't try you on any of those meds before doing the botox treatment.
1466277 tn?1286312305 Lost 65 pounds in like 2 or 3 months, it was around the time he also broke his jaw, but He gets sick a lot, He cant digest his food properly, he get diahreah after eating, vommits after eating, appetite loss, fatigue, and pale skin. He looks terrible. He wont eat because eating makes him sick all the time. he throws up all the time, its horrible to watch him be so sick.
Avatar m tn Another way to study is with a gastric-emptying study, which measures how long it takes for food to move through your stomach. In gastroparesis, the muscles in the wall of your stomach work poorly or not at all. This prevents your stomach from emptying properly. Gastroparesis can interfere with digestion, cause nausea vomiting and cause problems with blood sugar levels and nutrition. Diabetes can cause gastroparesis, please check with your doctor to rule out this condition. Regards.

Avatar m tn Gastroparesis can be caused by abdominal surgery because the surgery can damage the vagus nerve. You do not need to have diabetes to have gastroparesis. What medications are you on for the gastroparesis? Let me know you have any other questions.
Avatar f tn I’ve been losing weight since April, I was 55kg last November 23kg in April and now 21 in June. I’m struggling with finishing a meal as I’m getting stuffed quickly! I’ve been dizzy for awhile and in April my blood pressure was low. The nurse has said I’m probably dizzy due to not eating properly. I’ve just had a blood test for bone profile and it’s come back high but doesn’t give me answers to not eating/losing weight.
Avatar m tn Reglan is it- I refused it- Zelnorm worked for my gas- bloat but they took it off the market- I didn't have gastroparesis ( I was sure I did) but manometry showed goofy motility- and I also have gas /bloat after my fundo- unless you want to work with the bowel emptying- they tried me on Amitiza/ gave me diarrhea though. I like chewable acidopholus for the gut (GNC), as well as fiber choice OTC. You burping or any other symptoms.
Avatar n tn Ok, I have none of the symptoms (fullness upon eating, nausea, etc.) but my doctor wants me to have a test done via x-ray to monitor movement of food through the stomach. Doctor thinks that high nightime glucose levels are due to food being digested after humalog has worn off. I don't have crazy numbers very often, but always seems to happen when I log for doctor (sound familiar?) or during PMS week. But, hopefully to rule this condition out, I'm having the test next week.
Avatar f tn m still working on getting through it. For the first month I was eating a slice of toast or a few crackers a day and lost 25lbs. Every time I ate I would get nauseated that I developed a fear of eating. My GI dr. has now ordered me domperidone. I'm also taking an anti-depressant and anti-anxiety drug as well as Zofran for the nausea but hopefully when I get the motility drug it will help with that.
Avatar n tn com/vitacost-friendly-fiber Using fiber does not work for everybody, and you may need to increase your dose. For some people with gastroparesis, eating fiber delays gastric emptying. You will not know which group you are in until you test this for yourself. I do not make any money from these suggestions, nor do I have any financial affiliation with the companies or products mentioned herein.
Avatar f tn Make sure that when you test for gluten intolerances, you have been eating gluten, as not eating gluten can give you a false negative. I also have gastroparesis so let me know if you have any questions.
Avatar m tn I would recommend eliminating 100% of all lactose from your diet for 2 weeks or to try eliminating 100% of all gluten from your diet for 2 months to see if that helps. Many people also have GERD too and the Prilosec should help that. You also may need to reduce your beef intake as sometimes this can be hard to digest.

Avatar n tn Thank you for the link. I made a Dr's appt.. I was dx. with diabetis 4 months ago, I thought it was the diabetis making me feel like this...
Avatar f tn However you will have to Change your eating habits to help control gastroparesis. Your doctor or dietitian has prescribed the correct diet. However take six small meals a day instead of three large ones. If less food enters the stomach each time you eat it will not be too full to cause symptoms. You have to avoid high-fat and high-fiber foods. Fat naturally slows digestion and fiber is difficult to digest. I understand you need to lose weight. Start an exercise routine.
3923358 tn?1358552214 The diet must be tailored according to the individual patient and his degree of gastroparesis. In gastroparesis a doctor may recommend medicines to stimulate the stomach to contract. It is suggested to consult your attending physician and seek his advice. I hope you find this information useful. Best wishes and regards!
