Eating fentanyl gel

Common Questions and Answers about Eating fentanyl gel

Avatar f tn There is no reservoir of medication in a matrix patch - instead there are layers of the medication. There is no fentanyl gel in a matrix style patch. A matrix fentanyl patch places the fentanyl in adhesive. By all means return the defective patch to the Pharmacy where you purchased it. As Phil said, contact your prescribing physician and make him/her aware of the defective patch. Be cautious when handling the defective patch as your body can still absorb the Fentanyl is you touch it.
Avatar m tn She suggested that I use the gel patch but I need to know who makes a 12mcg with the gel. Does Sandoz still make this patch? I called a major chain pharmacy and asked but they acted like I was a drug seeker so I thought if I could find out the mfg. company's name first then I could ask them to order it.
1310633 tn?1430224091 Hello all... I was lurking in the Pain Management forums and someone mentioned that they've changed the way the Fentanyl patch is manufactured. They no longer have that gel stuff on the inside that you can squeeze/suck out (so I learned when I was in rehab). They now put the Fentanyl directly into the adhesive that sticks the patch to your skin.
Avatar m tn Well I do know for a fact that both Fentanyl and Dilaudid have very short half lives, fentanyl in particular. The only thing about fentanyl is apparantly the gel from the patch can stay under your skin and continue to release for a few days even after the patch is removed. Dilaudid half life is about 5hrs and from what ive read fentanyl is even shorter, perhaps 1-3hrs. But I dont know. I woke up today, 2hrs past 3.5 days and I still feel relatively normal.
Avatar f tn But like 10 days ago I got some fentanyl patches. Not perscribed, but ive been cutting them in fours and eating the gel. Like a patch a day for 10 days. This was before I read all the bad stuff on fentanyl. I agree it was extremely bone headed to do this. And I'm stopping. My question is how bad will the withdrawal be after only taking it for a little more than a week. I took something called kratom to help with the morphine. Will this help with fentanyl? I have 3 patches left.
Avatar f tn I am wondering if anyone on high doses of fentanyl 175mcg for extreme pain has died going cold turkey and this doesn't mean the side effects which are like death so i have read. Or has anyone who used fentanyl for extreme pain committed suicide due to the withdrawal.
Avatar f tn So I have a friend that squirted some fentanyl gel on my forearm today and I rubbed it in. It wasn't an excessive amount but it wasn't a few drops either. I obviously did this for recreational use. Anyway, about 3-4 hours later, I took a bath with my two children. 2 and 1 years old. Are they in danger of this spreading to them and possible OD ing??? Please let me know, I am very concerned.
Avatar m tn The original one is a kind of a pouch filled with gel. The other is a flat patch that has the fentanyl embedded in the adhesive. It looks like a piece of Scotch tape. Mylan is one manufacturer of the flat patches and I've had the best results from that one vs. any of the gel pouch patches. They stick better and actually last the full 3 days. Everyone is different though, so just bear in mind that there are options out there if you have trouble with the one you're currently using.
Avatar f tn What are the differences in Fentanyl Patches, gel-filled versus so called non-gel filled. Also what do people think of the pain control in them.
Avatar n tn Does anyone know if you take a Fentanyl patch off and try to use it again in a couple weeks Is it still good?
82861 tn?1333453911 Mylan pharmaceuticals makes the patches I prefer. Instead of a gel reservoir, the fentanyl is embedded in the adhesive. Less chance of abuse that way, but no doubt someone out there has already figured out a way to do it. As an aside for any of your patients who find the gel patch wears off in 2 days rather than 3 - try the Mylan version. For me, they last the full 3 days with no problem.
Avatar f tn The reservior patches are gel filled and you can push the gel around. The gel is a mixture of fentanyl any alcohol. It sounds like you have the patch with the fentanyl built into the adhesive. Those ones you don't have to worry about leaks. If or when you want to stop the patch be sure to get tapering instructions from your doctor and that will greatly minimize the withdrawal symptoms.
Avatar f tn anyway ive told my pharmacist to get me a differnt brand which im going up to collect soon today. I just hope they are the gel based patches !!! ;) also fentanyl in my opinion is not as strong as doctors say it is and its effectivness as a strong painkiller is inferior to morphine and especially dipipanone (stronger than oxycodone) and diamorphine. What it is fentanyl is about 80times more concentrated than morphine not 80 times stronger !!!
Avatar m tn Hi folks! I been on patches for the last 4 weeks and need to get off them. I started with 25mcg but got up to 100mcg fairly quickly. Feeling weird weird on these and thinking it's just the start up feelings from the Fentanyl. I'm also on on Celexa and that apparently is not a good combo. So i asked the Doc to get off the Fentanyl and he said OK and gave me my normal dose of Vicoprofen. Of course i'm having big time whidrawls from not being on the Fentanyl.
Avatar f tn FEntanyl was not a good drug for me but I used both the gel-filled and the mylan type. I could never keep the gel filled on, even with tape on the edges. I had much less trouble with the Mylan brand. Glad to hear you're getting decent pain relief.
1187071 tn?1279369698 I used to be on the fentanyl patch and when I was, I used a surgical type tape ONLY around the edges of the patch. My patches were the gel filled kind, so it was imperative that I not use the tape or anything else on the gel filled portion of the patch itself. I do know there are different types of patches - some that are gel filled and some that are not.
Avatar m tn I had been using fentanyl patches for about a month. I would wear them on my side/hip, switching sides every 2 days when a new patch would be applied. I noticed while on the patch that my skin would kind of swell up and turn red and get very dry, usually around the edges of the patch (sandoz gel type). Well I havent worn any patches or taken any fentanyl in about 3 weeks. But I still have a red rash that is very dried out feeling compared to normal skin.
Avatar f tn Im on 150mcg fentanyl patches every 3 days with 120mg dihydrocodeine every day and have been for nearly 10 years because of a lower spine bodge operation. I don't know if this is high dose cause I don't understand all technical junk about fentanyl patches but I do know my body is well addicted and I get withdrawal about every 48hr because the patches don't last the 3 days there supposed to which is why I have dihydrocodeine to.
Avatar m tn I know oxy detox is usually 3-5 days for the worse symptoms to be over. But ive heard fentanyl takes much longer. Does anybody have experience? How much longer does is take for a fentanyl cold turkey? Should I switch to all oxy for a few weeks first? And finally, if I take 5 days off, so with weekend on both sides that wud be 9 days? Wud that be long enuf?
Avatar n tn Many arthritis sufferers are in a panic over the shortage of Voltaren gel (diclofenac sodium gel) and I get why they are worried. Voltaren gel is a prescription topical anti-inflammatory gel used for all kinds of arthritis pain: rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and osteoarthritis of the knees, hands and hips. People who have stomach issues from taking anti-inflammatories by mouth can bypass that problem with Voltaren gel.
Avatar f tn When we arrived and they saw the Fentanyl Patch, the first thing they assumed was overdose. They did a tox screen and found no opiates in her system. The patch had been replaced approximately 24 hours prior. She has been on the Fentanyl Patch (100 mcg) for about 3 years and uses a tegaderm patch over it to hold it in place. It was on her stomach. She always places the patches on her stomach or upper arm in a fatty area. This is the 4th ER visit in the past 12 months due to withdrawals.
1386676 tn?1280247305 Hello All I was wondering if anybody else out there has had any experiences of using fentanyl patches (especially uk durogesic and matrifen users that were previously on tilofyl or other brand gel based patches) that have had problems with withdrawal symptoms either from faulty patches, changeing to a different patch brand or changing over from oral morphine or other strong oral opioids like oxycodone, methadone, or dipipanone ? Which brand or type works best for you ?
1196338 tn?1265163728 Hello, I am new to this community, I suppose I should tell you a littlebit about myself first.. Well, I am a CP patient who was in a MVA accident a couple of years ago, and have been taking opiates for my pain. I am a little shy to ask this because I don't want to be judged as being an addict or something, but I always thought that you could tell that a narcotic was working based on that warm fuzzy feeling you get..
1279189 tn?1275244868 There are two types of patches available. One that is like a gel-filled band-aid, and the other is like a piece of tape with no gel pouch. The fentanyl is delivered through the skin for a 72-hour period. Delivery CAN increase if you're out in the heat or partying in a hot tub for a long time. My personal experience is that the gel patches are more prone to heat-related release than the other type of patch. (I use the ones made by Mylan.
