1564404 tn?1295154236 You definitely have an eating disorder. There is something called non specific, where you niether fit exactly into a catergory.Purging is not good for you ,EVER. NO matter how often , its so bad for your body and teeth. I have suffered from bulimia and I know its a struggle. MY advice is to not restrict yoursefl to 300 cal a day or anything under1200-1500. Your body will go into starvation mode and retain more water and food and in the long run it will make you fatter and unhealthy.
1246367 tn?1271225330 They are about more than just food. Whatever was going on underneath that was fueling your eating disorder is still there. You might want to consider some support in the form of counseling from a therapist experienced with eating disorders. OA is also a good source of support and learning and working the steps with a sponsor. It's hard to do this alone.
Avatar f tn My favorite things to snack on are pretzels with hummus, grapes, popcorn, pineapple chunks, deviled eggs, and then chicken noodle soup is always nice. (You can even get can pineapple and put it in the freezer for an hour or so.. frozen pineapple is delicious!) tuna with crackers, etc.. Do you cook? You should look on pinterest for healthy food/snack ideas. I dealt with bulimia 7years ago and always hated the shame that came with it.. I feel for you and pray you get control of it. For me..

Avatar f tn Congratulations on the 85 clean days from methadone. That's a tough one to beat and YOU DID IT!! You should be very proud of yourself. I spent time in rehab for substance abuse. The facility also specialized in treating eating disorders. My rehab roomate struggled with anorexia and bulimia. I sure learned alot about eating disorders in that time. I'm so glad you are posting about this. It sounds like you are being swept up in a cross addiction.
Avatar f tn Dear Tessy2, I would contact your insurance company directly and ask for the eating disorder treatment programs on their panel. You could then call each of their contracted facilities. If interested in any of the programs, have the treatment program intake department run an insurance verification to determine your financial responsibility.
Avatar f tn Individuals with purging disorders often are normal or near normal weight. Avatar n tn When people feel occasionally sick after eating, they may throw up or try to, to rid their body of the harmful food. It's not forceful, but more like a "get me to the bathroom or I'll spew all over you." If you're doing it all the time, and you can control when you throw it up (like you can make it to the bathroom and stick your finger down your throat to make yourself throw it up) then it's something deeper. It could be in your head. It could be an eating disorder.
Avatar m tn m new to this ap/forum, just being supportive.
Avatar n tn You have yourself, your marriage and a life worth living to fight for. I would recommend that you seek an eating disorder psychotherapist in your area. You also need to see a medical doctor, who is preferably an eating disorder expert, to address any possible medical concerns. There are many forms of treatment from outpatient services to outpatient programs to residential to inpatient. Avatar f tn Often times, episodes of binge eating are accompanied by a sense of lack of control, especially early in the course of the disorder. The recurrent use of inappropriate compensatory behaviors to prevent weight gain is another essential feature of Bulimia. Many individuals with Bulimia employ several methods in their attempt to compensate for binge eating. The most common compensatory technique is self-induced vomiting after an episode of binge eating.
Avatar n tn Nobody can tell you, miaow, what damage you have done to your body, but you already know there is physical consequences to bulimia, because you can feel it. The important thing is that you stop doing more damage and get help. You don't have to live this way. It isn't easy but it is possible to recovery from an eating disorder. I have 15 years recovery from my own 30 year history with bulimia. You do have to tell at least one person...yourself....and you have done that by posting here.
Avatar n tn Glad to help or even listen if you need me to. It is important that you try to quit being bulimia as it causes so many health problems over time. Your life is as important as anyone elses or more. I think if you have had your liver enzymes done and electrolytes (sodium, possium etc.) and anything else the doctor wants to add. Try to keep hydrated. Bulimia will cause your enamel on your teeth to disappear too.
Avatar f tn I have had bulimia for over 15 years (in recovery but still fighting it daily) and I have Graves.. I have never had a conflict between the two. I slip every once and a while too.. don't be hard on your self!
1438232 tn?1283867965 I know how you feel. I suffered from my eating disorder nearly 30 years before I got into recovery and yes, it does get worse. You don't say if the drinking is also a problem for you, but this is not uncommon. What I can tell you is that Recovery IS possible. I have now been in recovery from my eating disorder for 16 years and the only thing I wish is that I didn't waste that many years of my life suffering. I now eat three meals a day and nothing in between and no sugar.
Avatar f tn there you will be taken through the cure process step by step.....Your only other real alternative is to go into therapy with an eating disorder specialist.
Avatar f tn To get to the point, I've had an eating disorder for a few years, since I was almost 11, and now I'm 15. It's varied from anorexia to bulimia, but these past few years its centered around binging and purging. For the past few months, I've found blood in my vomit. Its a dark brown and it resembles coffee grounds. I've also been having sharp pains in my abdominal and chest, which usually don't last long at all. Lately, though, the chest pains have been lingering.
Avatar n tn When my eating disorder was active my life was misery nearly 24/7. Is that living? Rather than worry about the life expectancy, I agree with schlee, I would opt for recovery. I personally feel that your stopping seeing your psychologist was an excuse. If you want recovery, you have to be willing to go to any lengths to get it.
762882 tn?1234493890 im pauline, and it really took me a lot of courage to post this question, i usually just surf the net and read patients with ED and their struggles, one fact im know and sure is that i have an eating disorder, but im not really that sure what categorizes it, if i've started out to be a restricting anorexic for 6 months (meaning counting calories and excercising like mad) then suddenly eats then finally turned into binging and purging habits 3 weeks consecutive in 1 month then suddenly r
Avatar n tn Is anyone out there a binge eater that would like to get into contact to help recovery? I've had eating disorders for the past 10 years...anorexia, bulimia, recovered on my own for a bit, but now after starting a career and having more stress in my life, I'm not normal anymore. I binge. I went on topamax for a bit and this helped but didn't like the weird side effects and I know I can't rely on drugs my whole life. I'm 26 and just want to be normal with food.
