Avatar f tn If it's something you can't help yourself with, you definitely should see someone professional to talk to about it. And you're right, your baby needs all the nutrients it can get, make sure you're taking a prenatal as well as eating. Really, if you're eating right, exercising, the scale is only going up because of baby weight.
Avatar m tn You could very well have an eating disorder. You always want to rule out a medical condition. I would recommend you get a full physical by your physician and explain to him or her your struggle with eating and feelings of fullness. It would also be wise to see a psychiatrist or psychotherapist who specializes in eating disorders for an evaluation. If it's paychological, eating isses are only the symptom.
Avatar n tn Another thought: Prior to the evaluation, see if you can complete a standardized rating scale that can help to pinpoint the presence of a condition such as Asperger's. A well regarded scale of this sort is the GILLIAM ASPERGER'S DISORDER SCALE. The psychologist can score it and interpret it and then discuss it with you.

Avatar f tn Let me just list a number of signs that make a person susceptible to an eating disorder or disordered eating (some of the following symptoms to a lessor degree and not as debilitating). They are as follows: weight loss from an illness; some kind of loss; depression, anxiety, abuse, poor body image, skipping meals; protecting one’s eating disorder behaviors (i.e.
Avatar f tn We took our son to an occupational therapist where his sensory integration/processing disorder was diagnosed. His first evaluation came back as non conclusive. They weren't sure. We had him evaluated again the following year and that time they were sure. Those evaluations have some things that are concrete and quantitative and others that are more subjective. My own input was part of my son's evaluation. This sounds like it interferes with regular life.

Avatar f tn I am currently recovering from an eating disorder. I have been doing the South Beach Diet for five weeks. I have been on plan 100% but have gained 13+ pounds. I am doing the 30 Day Shred DVD daily along with other exercises. I know I have screwed up my metabolism and it will take me a lot longer to see results. I am thrilled to be recovering and not in the control of food and eating 24/7...but I am really having a hard time sticking with it when all I do is gain..
Avatar f tn I would not venture to diagnose you without seeing you for a comprehensive eating disorder evaluation. There are many other factors that go into understanding whether a person has an eating disorder or not. You could seek out an eating disorder specialist in your area and have an evaluation. Have you opened up to anyone about this – perhaps someone in your family or a school counselor? I would encourage you to talk to someone you trust in order to begin to get the support that you need.
2030686 tn?1351688548 (So Epstein Barre, seizures, bipolar disorder should all be disclosed along with anything else you have not mentioned.) Often treatment can proceed but the doc needs to know about current and previous medical problems because sometimes adjustments need to be made. The bipolar disorder won't disqualify you unless it is not controlled. There are plenty of us treating who have histories of either unipolar or bipolar disorder.
Avatar m tn The symptoms fade around late afternoon and on a scale of 1-10 are around 2 at night. I had taken Melatonin for sleep medication, which has now become a prescribed drug, but can sleep for 4-5 hours without doing this. Also have taken on relaxation exercises given by a hypnotherapist to release heavy tension in shoulder and arm muscles. Can someone please explain why symptoms go down the scale later in the day?

1397290 tn?1357777871 There is no doctor on this board; only other people who have experience with eating disorders. You are quite thin for your height, though you probably don't feel that way. You seem to be obsessed with your weight which is a hallmark of an eating disorder. You shouldn't need to count calories at your weight, but simply eat healthy and nutritious meals on a regular basis. If you don't currently have hunger sensors, you might try planning regular meal times that work with your schedule.
2028721 tn?1356682003 I have to ask if you have an eating disorder? Or a distorted perception of your body. There are many variables in our weight, over a days' time, depending on what we've eaten, our activity level, how long since we used the bathroom, whether or not we might have some fluid retention, etc; fluctuating up or down a few pounds is not a big deal.
Avatar f tn Has she gotten a psychiatric evaluation and a diagnosis? Did they test her for drugs? If she becomes a danger to herself or others she can be hospitalized if needed. She may need some medication adjustments...sometimes it takes a while to find the right combination. If you are having trouble paying for her to get mental health care try to find one that goes on a sliding scale fee.
Avatar f tn I fight staying in recovery from the eating disorder but what am i supposed to do other than starve myself to control my weight? I have been eating less than 500 calories and exersing when i can. I have been purging when i eat to much and i know this is bad. I now weigh 156 after two months of this. I have my first appointment next week with a specialist and am hoping for some new treatment options.
1162859 tn?1262831592 Well, she needs a psychiatric evaluation. There is a disorder called pica which is involves eating inappropriate things. It is treatable but you must seek help for her. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Dear Snoopy, In order to determine whether you have an eating disorder or not, I would advise you to have a comprehensive evaluation by an eating disorder specialist. The three vegetative signs of depression are sleep disturbance, change in appetite (for you a decrease in appetite) and decrease interest in previously enjoyed activities.

Avatar f tn I believe that I may be on my way to an eating disorder. I am 34 years old, 5'3" and I weigh 107. I am very petite and always have been. I haven't truely ever worked out, I've just been very very lucky. Even after having two kids, I lost all the weight without doing much. From as far back as I can remember I have always had problems eating if I was overly stressed or emotional about something. During those times, I will not eat.
