Avatar n tn This my 3rd pregnancy and I honestly have never changed my diet. Eat what I can and what I want. I'm not a raw meat person, don't eat sushi, but otherwise meat cheese fruit veggies cake ice cream whatever. Take your vitamin. I do limit the caffeine and obviously no drinking.
Avatar f tn I went to a healthy food pregnancy class. And the teacher said she ate sushi her entire pregnancy with all of her children. I never did, just because I don't care for it. If u do want some, don't eat it alot and go to am actual sushi restaurant that has a good name and u know is clean. Don't go to a $7 Chinese buffet and eat the sushi lol. My doctor also told me it was ok to eat in moderation. Everyone's take on this is different. Do what u think is best.

Avatar m tn Dr. Hook and Dr. Handsfield, I knew that mosquito bites cannot transmit HIV and blood borne diseases like Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C. Sorry for asking about Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C in this forum. I think the Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C virus are blood borne infections. So, the transmission through blood should be quite the same as HIV. Hence, I ask about them here. Hopefully, you can help. I have 2 scenarios here that I would like to ask of the potential risks: 1.
Avatar f tn Of course there are rolls that are not cooked and sashimi is never cooked. However if you go to a reputable sushi restaurant they should split the menu into cooked sushi and not cooked sushi to avoid any confusion. Plus if there are any questions she can always ask the server if the dish she chose is cooked or not.
Avatar f tn I eat sushi once a month, my doc said I could eat it once a week if I wanted. You just should avoid the really high mercury conent fish which most ppl don't eat any way, shark etc. The same guidelines apply as eating cooked fish. As for the chances of eating raw fish and getting legeinella, according to her you have a higher chance of getting that from ice cream. So I'll eat sushi at a restaurant by not the gas station.
Avatar f tn Mommas the sushi is fine, I would lean towards the cooked sushi while prego though. They turn down sushi during pregnancy due to the risk of food borne illnesses. So I would make sure the sushi is made with fresh fish and cooked to avoid the salmonella poisoning. But to quote my doctor, "a million women in Japan can't be wrong.

Avatar f tn We have a couple of restaurants like that here. Sushi one's where it's all you can eat for X amount of money. If you order more then you eat and waste it, your charged extra. I bet it's something like that..it would have to be, as that is the only way you are responsible for your own portions. It's a good idea I think.
Avatar f tn ve been craving it for a month. And even if I do eat it right after I want more. I eat whatever sushi I always have ate. Of course staying away from high mercury fish like tuna. As long as you trust your restaurant its fine. Besides like my doctor told me: What do the women in Japan and China eat?
579258 tn?1250649343 The first time I had it was in a sushi restaurant, I was thrilled to learn I could buy it to prepare and have at home. It's fun too, since you need to break it out of the pods. Kinda the same satisfaction/fun as eating peanuts in the shell.
Avatar f tn Sushi is not true. If you go to a good sushi restaurant that stores and makes it well you are fine. My gf had raw sushi throughout with Dr approval and baby is more than fine!
