959034 tn?1253671476 How do you know if you are eating healthy? I want to loose a little weight. I also want to eat healthy, and eat enough. I'm disabled and don't get much exercise either. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn I'm 32. Have a one year old via c-section. I'm 5'5 and weigh 260 lbs. I'm obese and just found out I am insulin resistant and have high cholesterol!!! I am way too young for these issues and the DR told me I have to get rid of the weight or I'll DIE! I'm trying really hard but the lack of encouragement from the husband and family members is really dragging me down. I have no motivation, I see no results. I don't want to die! I love my baby, she's everything to me!
Avatar f tn I have been hospitilized 7 times in this period and each time i recieve 3 daily hot oil enemas and a solution called picolax (usually used before bowel surgery) 3/4 times daily. I have even had a litre of bowel cleanser. I eat a fairly healthy diet and have introduced more salad and veg into it. I have tried every herbal remeday, old wifes tale solutions and all prebiotic drinks on the market. All of this to no avail.
Avatar m tn I know what I need to do to improve my health. I know I need to eat better, quit smoking altogether and exercise a great deal more than I already do. This will help me conquer all my fears and leave me a happier healthier person.. if only I could find the willpower. So, on to my heart condition, stats, and a question: I have one pre-existing heart condition; an enlarged heart. My heart itself is only slightly narrower than half the width of my ribcage.
Avatar f tn She said not to count calories or diet but just eat healthy and to exercise. Fresh fruits, veggies, and lean meats like chicken etc. She told me the best way to eat fresh is buy my grocerys from the outer perimeter of the grocery store thats where the eggs, milks cheese and produce and fruit and fresh meat is located. She advised me to stay away from the middle aisles as its all processed foods. I decided to go on the 3 meals and two snacks and its workednout good so far.

369861 tn?1306275686 I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and have the same problem. The weight problem is extremely common with hypo's. I'm told that once my thyroid is balanced, I will be able to lose weight semi-normally - I can only trust that information and do my best to keep from gaining any more and hoping I can actually shed a few pounds in the process.
Avatar n tn I have been researching emphysema online and it all seems so bleak and the prognosis seems so inevitable...if one was to exercise and get healthy and strong does the prognosis have to be so bleak? I know it varies from individual to individual but if you were to be under a drs care, eat well excercise how long would it take before you would need to be oxygen...20 years? 10 years...what are the averages?
2020005 tn?1628125976 I can do great exercising, I really push myself to get it done, my down fall is seriously eating healthy. I can eat healthy all day long, then at the end of the day cave completely. I can't let myself ignore my hunger breastfeeding or my supply will completely diminish. I've been eating a good breakfast, good lunch, a snack between lunch and dinner, and then dinner, and a snack later on. I'm having SUCH a hard time eating healthily.
Avatar f tn Walking is a great exercise. Myfitnesspal.com can be a great place to track your caloriea. Make sure you are eating fats but the right kinds of fats. If you can eat fruits and veggies, aim for a few servings a day.
Avatar m tn I have been overweight all my life even though i eat quite healthy and exercise regularly. I recently got lab work and my cholesterol levels are ideal (LDL, VLDL), triglycerides are actually quite low. How does it make sense that i am overweight and yet my lab results point to the fact that i consume low levels of fat? I also find it extremely difficult to lose weight, could there be something else that is wrong with me?
Avatar n tn If you want to lose weight and keep it off, you need to eat a well balanced healthy diet with lots of exercise. It's a complete life style change. If you go back to the way you used to eat, you will gain the weight back. You can have some of the things you used to eat but as occasional treats. I have given up my burgers for a healthier choice. I make portabello burgers instead. I use sandwich thins in place of regular buns. You can sub a lot of things for a healthier version.
Avatar n tn How do you eat healthy as an eighteen year old when half of you family doesn't want to eat the same? Also I don't have enough money to buy the really good food for me.
Avatar f tn Hi, If you want to really loose the weight, honestly just be healthy :-) look into whole foods and clean eating. This will keep your insides healthy, then just adopt an exercise regime that suites you :-) eat healthy and keep happy. Don't over do your exercise and have lots of hearty health veg on your plate. It sounds tedious and boring but its the best and healrhiesr way.
Avatar f tn May I suggest in addition to eliminating risk factors, that you check out Dr Stephen Sinatra who integrates supplements with heart care.
Avatar f tn Perhaps taking vitamin supplements could help. It may be from a slower metabolism. Sometimes when you start eating much less than your body is used to, it goes in to panic mode and holds on to all of the fat and calories from the food you eat. All the B vitamins help with energy metabolism. There may be others beneficial to you as well. Another possibility is you are not burning enough of the calories that you are eating. You may be burning just enough to STAY at the weight you are now.
Avatar f tn I had gestational diabetes with my first I failed miserably had a beautiful big healthy baby girl. Got type two diabetes a year later with an a1c of ten which is awful. Got pregnant again on metformin and my daughter is healthy as a horse this pregnancy. If the baby was to be harmed you would know by now. They told me that a birth defects due to diabetes would be detected around 12 weeks. Don't stress eat healthy and exercise.
Avatar n tn Milk isn't good for you anyway, so that's no loss, and it doesn't really add weight all that much unless you eat a ton of it. But here's the thing -- unless you have a physiological condition that prevents you from absorbing the food you eat, and that is a condition that exists, eating more of anything will help you gain weight. The more food you eat that metabolizes quickly into sugar or contains high fat will likely help you to gain weight.
Avatar f tn ve still postponed when that would manifest itself and the way life works is, we all die, and the trick is, die before this kind of thing happens because you've already lived out your life expectancy, whatever that turns out to be before the bad stuff happens. In other words, none of us can eat in a way that makes us live forever, but we can live out lives in a way that gives us a better chance of living as long as we were programmed to without something intervening and cutting that short.
Avatar f tn Dieting is probably a no. Eatong healthy is a yes, but make sure you eat often so you get all of the nutrition you need in a day. Exercise should be limited until you talk to your doctor. Every body is different. I am 7 weeks, and i am not allowed to exercise because i have a past of anemia. So, just either call your triage nurse or ask at your first appointment!
Avatar f tn the problem with a diet is the first three letters because after the first 2 weeks you feel like your gonna die of hunger. You need to make a lifestyle change and learn how to eat healthy and exercise. your body needs at least 1200 calories a day otherwise it will go into starvation mode and store everything and that is unhealthy. get a balanced meal choose wisely what to eat, half of your plate should be fruits and veggies, 1/4 grains and 1/4 protein. and about 4-6 oz of dairy.
Avatar n tn Hi, I've been dieting for the last 3 weeks, I only have two meals a day and make sure there healthy, I've cut out white bread and spuds and I exercise two or three times a week yet I've only lost 5 lbs, is there something I'm doing wrong?
