Tram is a tough one to withdraw from. I am not familiar with it, but from reading the board...it is usually necessary to taper. But depending on how strong the dosage per pill was..not sure. You might share that so others can help better.
Avatar n tn Hi scared tramadol is an opiod just as is hydrocodone is.That is why it is easing the withdrawal because you are not withdrawaing opiates when you take more opiates.I know that it has been said and even by some doctors that tramadol is not a narcotic. It is,and it is harder to get off of than the hydrocodone from what I hear.I would definitely stop taking this.I am sorry that you were misled.I was on oxy but the withdrawal symptoms are the same, just varying in intensity depending on which one.
Avatar m tn I would have been 8 weeks off of the Vicodin as well because I stopped both these drugs at the same time, but I took Vicodin to ease withdrawal symptoms after 14 days off of all drugs, and to my surprise, I didn't feel ANY euphoria from the Vicodin. I still felt the depressing effects of it when I came down from it, but no euphoria AT ALL.

Avatar f tn I was checked by a nurse practitioner who says my heart and lungs are perfect, etc. Are these rather bizarre developments basically withdrawal from Tramadol? I do take Calmes Forte to help me sleep at night and have had no problems with sleep. From my reading I do understand that weaning off of this drug can be quite an ordeal but I would like to rule out other issues. Thanks for any suggestions or experience with this drug.
Avatar n tn If I taper slowly off of tramadol, can I avoid withdrawal symptoms all together? Or will I feel withdrawal pains no matter what?
Avatar n tn That is tramadol withdrawal! When i was in deep withdrarwal there would be a knock at the door, and I would literally just freeze and not move. Not answer the door. Barely answered my phone. Barely could even write on here. I mean actually it was even hard for me to find this forum! So, I promise you 100% that you are OVER the worst part of it, even though the next few days will be up and down, Gatting past Day 7 was a major shift for me. You and I have similar back injuries.
Avatar n tn Yes, you may be experiencing withdrawal symptoms. The withdrawal is unusual with tramadol; some people have very uncomfortable symptoms, and others have none at all. Starting the Cymbalta may reduce your withdrawal to some extent, as Cymbalta is a serotonin (and norepinephrine) reuptake blocker, and some of the withdrawal from Tramadol comes from changes in serotonin activity. The withdrawal is not 'dangerous', so do your best to avoid concentrating on them.
Avatar f tn Hi, welcome to the forum. Getting here and looking for answers is the first step. The withdrawal is uncomfortable at the least, but it's a 14 day span at the most for the physical symptoms. How much and how long and what drug have you been using. There is always someone here who can offer more specific advice.
3114926 tn?1341852400 Hi,yes it is very possible to break a tramadol addiction. It is hard but very doable,You have been taking it such a long time so first and foremost you must discuss with a doctor a taper schedule because tramadol has a risk of seizure associated with it.Secondly after such a long time taking tramadol a slow taper will lengthen the withdrawals (not eliminate them) but should be less severe.Plenty of advice can be given on easing the symptoms of detox.Again, discuss with a doctor firstly.
Avatar n tn My question is,today is the 6th day without any Xanax, and I still am suffering from what I believe to be withdrawal symptoms, such as extreme fatigue, inability to concentrate, dry mouth, the shakes, and occasional severe insomnia. How long should it take before these symptoms go away?
Avatar f tn My doctor replaced 1/2 of my daily Tramadol dose with Vicodin and I continued that for a year. I did get very uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms from the Tramadol when that switch was made. However... My doctor a year later completely took me off the Tramadol and replaced it with Morphine ER with Percocet for break through pain and I had no withdrawal symptoms from stopping the Tramadol at all!!!
Avatar f tn Tramadol is known to result in withdrawal effects when it is immediately stopped. The symptoms might include: Anxiety, sweating, insomnia, chills, pain, nausea, tremors, diarrhea, upper respiratory symptoms, hallucinations (rarely). The manufacturer states that tapering off of the medication may reduce the chance of these withdrawal effects, however, no specific tapering schedule is mentioned.
Avatar f tn I found this on Wiki and it does say it is and opiod and also says this - Tramadol is associated with the development of physical dependence and a severe withdrawal syndrome.[59] Tramadol causes typical opiate-like withdrawal symptoms as well as atypical withdrawal symptoms including seizures. The atypical withdrawal symptoms are probably related to tramadol's effect on serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake.

Avatar n tn I just hope that tomorrow I will still be sane. I have a job interview and can not afford to be going though withdrawal symptoms, and yes you are right if I can go three days without it I would be insane to start them over. lets just hope and pray that I am going to do the right thing this time around. WISH ME LUCK \!!! AND THANK YOU ALL.... really scared but God only knows what tomorrow will bring. Good night will post tomorrow.
Avatar m tn at the bottom of this page you will see Thomas Recipe. a lot of people have found it very helpful in easing withdrawal symptoms. so many doctors have tried to push tramadol on me saying 'it is not addictive'. aughghghghhghgg yes, it is and it even seems to be a little more difficult with some people because it also has some anti depressant qualities to it.
Avatar m tn If you take tramadol daily for more than a week or so, you will have 'discontinuation symptoms' or withdrawal. But you can avoid most of those symptoms by lowering the dose over time-- say by taking half of your dose for a few days, then half again of that dose for a few days, and so on. The problem is that SOME people cannot taper off medications that have addictive properties.
