Common Questions and Answers about Ear infection with tubes

infection

Avatar n tn I have a family history of severe ear infections, my brother is legally deaf in his one ear due to an ear infection. I would definetly consult with his pediatrician and see if you can get a referral for an ENT. It has made a world of difference for my son. Good luck to you and your son and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. I have been there before!!
Avatar n tn My son had no kidding- counting both ears and checkups- 27 ear infections by age 8 months- it was the youngest baby our ENT had ever done ear surgery on and he had by age 17 which he is now, adenoidectomy, 5 sets of tubes, 2 permanent sets of ear tubes, 3 ear surgeries for cholestetoma and reconstruction and finally has 95% to 100% hearing back in both ears. This was with me staying on top of everything guided through the doctors.
Avatar n tn Looks like you have developed a sinus infection which has progressed to a throat infection as well. Sinus infections cause headaches. There are tubes called 'Eustachian tubes' which connect the middle ear to the throat, this balances the air pressure in the ears. This tube can get blocked due to infections of the throat, which can give lead to a feeling of fullness in the ears and the resultant sounds. This can also result in infection of the ears.
200828 tn?1209917975 ) then he got ear infection after ear infection and the fluid still built up so it was a complete waste of time. I was told by a friend from the start who'd had her son treated not to go through with it, I just wish I'd listened. Good luck. I'll be thinking of you whatever you decide.
Avatar f tn The next day, I felt I had pain in my ear, similar to an ear infection. I went to the doctor and she told my ear was fine and that I should just take Claritin D. So, I have been taking Claritin D but ever since then, my ear hasn't been 100% normal. Every now and then, I'd say about once a day or so, I get a feeling that my ear is clogged. It feels like something is stuck in it. I can still hear out of it perfectly but it still feels like something is stuck in there.
Avatar f tn do all you can do first to clear that ear,I also had a infection and after that cleared I was left with fluid behind the ear drums,I never had a balance problems though, but got the tubes, was a big mistake for me,it did leave me with some hearing lost and will have them removed in Aug,that will be one year for me.
Avatar f tn Steam inhalations and warm salt water gargles can help clear the tube. Treating the throat infection should help clear the tubes. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
492921 tn?1321289896 Thanks. I had cronic ear infections as a child and tubes numerouse times so I do worry she might have the same problem. I'll take her temp and see if she has a fever or not. She hasn't felt warm to me.
Avatar f tn Went to the MD, she cleaned out my ear with syringe and warm water. and gave me Neomycin ear drops. Two days later squealing and ringing in the left ear with pressure continued. Went to ENT, he said the nemycin made my ear worse, and gave me a steriod. been on it a week, pressure feels a little better, but squealing continues, especially when the radio is on. ANY IDEA's>??
Avatar f tn ve been on antibiotics for 8 week now, they have torned my stomach up. Now I have that to deal with. Pls tell me I can get the tubes back open without surgery.
Avatar f tn My son is 3 1/2 and he had one ear infection and it wouldn't go away even with many different types of antibiotics. He had tubes put in his ears and they took over a year to fall out. He only had about 2 or 3 ear infections while they were in. Well they finally fell out and he's been having trouble hearing. I find myself talking loudly and sometimes having to yell at him. I took him to the ear doc and he's got fluid again in his ears blocking him from hearing good.
Avatar f tn Hi, there are tubes called ‘Eustachian tubes’ which connect the middle ear to the throat, this balances the air pressure in the ears. This tube can get blocked due to infections of the throat, which can give lead to a feeling of fullness in the ears. So, when you swallow, the air is pushed through the tubes resulting in the clicking sound. This can also result in infection of the ears.
Avatar f tn my right ear has been clogged uo for about 2 months now ive been to 2 doctors and an ent the drs told me sinus infection and gave me an antibitioc the ent says there is nothing wrong with me but my head hurts when i get up or bend down and my ear still feels clogged can anyone tell me if the ent can be wrong or am i just going crazy HELP!!
2017838 tn?1330598150 As the inflammation and infection subside the tubes should clear up. The fluticasone propionate, may help with the inflammation. Steam inhalations and warm salt water gargles can also help clear the tubes. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn and now I am having pain and swelling slight behind the ear and in the jaw area.
Avatar m tn This leaves and open door for bacteria into the middle part of the ear. Not all ear tubes come out on their own and have to be surgically removed. It took about 20 minutes for my surgery to get them out. It certainly does sound like an ear infection and as long as you keep the tube in, they will keep getting infected.
Avatar f tn That is why it is important for an evaluation with an ENT. You might need myringotomy tubes (ear tubes) to help with the fullness and pain.
Avatar n tn On Saturday I visited a walk in clinic and they said I had a sinus infection and a double ear infection. They put me on a z pack and told me to take Claritin D. I am now three day into the z pack and I can now no longer hear water running when I wash my hands or brush my teeth. I am still running a slight fever and my head feels like it's going to explode. Inside my head it sounds like an endless rain storm. I am going crazy.....what else could this be??
Avatar f tn oh where do i start, on feb 23rd i had my tubes tied so i was wondering if this could just be some after effects or if i might have an infection. when i stand up, get out of bed, or just move to quickly i feel really light headed as if i am going to pass out, i feel really dizzy, i have no appetite, nausea i feel like i'm going to throw up but i haven't, i get chills real bad where i shake, and i am really tired.
Avatar f tn I was at the dentist getting a cavity filled, and they had me inclined with my head down toward the floor. I felt liquid in my ear shift. That was it. The next day, my ear starts hurting, and the whole way down my jaw line and into my throat. Only on my left side though. Any thoughts? Had tubes in my ears as a young child, I'm 33 now.
