Duloxetine used for pain

Common Questions and Answers about Duloxetine used for pain

cymbalta

Avatar f tn One of the main ones is Duloxetine, which is a generic for Cymbalta. I take that for my neuropathy… It helps considerably, but doesn’t eliminate the pain. If you look it up, Cymbalta (Duloxetine) is listed as an anti-depressant, but it’s used “off label” quite often for pain. Check with your doctor and see if that might be possibility for you.
962875 tn?1314210036 As many of you know or have experienced, the AIs ( Arimidex, Femara, Aromasin), which are used to treat hormone-receptor positve breast cancer, often produce joint or muscle pain as a side effect. For about 20% of women, the side effects are so severe that they stop taking their medicine, which increases the risk that their breast cancer will recur.
Avatar f tn My GP gave me two weeks worth of Cymbalta 30mg samples, saying that it'd help me with the chronic pain I've been dealing with since September, caused by occipital neuralgia. A blast of cold air really makes the pain untolerable and I don't want to be popping 7 tylenols a day for the next few months. I'm also taking Wellbutrin XL 150mg for depression, Klonopin 1mg as needed for anxiety, and recently my doctor added Aderrall 10mg/day to help with my ADD-PI.
Avatar f tn Duvanta is not listed as an American drug so you can't know what it is used for. Also I don't know that India has an equivalent for the FDA so it may vary in strength and contents. The generic name for Cymbalta is Duloxetine Hydrochloride so Kitty may be getting Cymbalta but the same concern applies as listed above.
5055866 tn?1362951481 Unfortunately smoking does affects the amount of duloxetine in your system and blood stream meaning that you will loose between 40 - 50% of the duloxetine dose you take. It is not uncommon for people to have their duloxetine prescription increased if they smoke. Unfortunately it is not uncommon if you miss a dose to be experiencing these problems if your on a high dose, my patients even at a dose of 30mg do experience brain zaps, nausea and vomiting even with just one day missed.

Avatar f tn I think my anxiety attacks are pretty much under control since I take the duloxetine, and I really think with me taking Duloxetine and me completely stopping the vyvanse was why I didn't have a harder time coming off the medication.

Avatar m tn My question is that for the past 3 or so years I have been taking Cymbalta for Fibro....which has been helpful. Then last year I started getting weird symptoms...My heart was racing, I felt like I the room was closing in on me, sweats, and gained about 30 lbs in the last yr. I thought maybe my dosage was off on the Cymbalta so my doctor increased it which I stopped as soon as I started...I felt it was not that.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Celebrex (200 mg a day) for about five years for bone on bone knee osteoarthritis. It has worked well for controlling my pain (not perfect but pretty good). I also get some lower back pain (combination of osteoarthritis and nerve stuff) that only happens when I over-do (like trying to garden, etc.). I typically need a day or two of Vicodin for that as the Celebrex does not seem to work for that.
Avatar n tn I always recommend being on duloxetine for a solid 12 months at the right dose for you before you even consider reducing or think about coming off the drug, kind regards
Avatar m tn It is a serotonin nor epinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) which is used in major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, diabetic neuropathic pain, and stress urinary incontinence. The most common side effects include fatigue, increased sweating, night mares, palpitations, blurred vision, postural hypotension ( sudden fall in blood pressure when standing from a sitting posture). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duloxetine Do let me know if you need more information.
Avatar m tn First thing to note, Unfortunately smoking does affects the amount of duloxetine in your system and blood stream meaning that you will loose between 40 - 50% of the duloxetine dose you take. It is not uncommon for people to have their duloxetine prescription increased if they smoke.
20003388 tn?1515166040 I was recently switched from Paroxetine to Fluoxetine. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. When on Paroxetine and I was tired ALL the time. I was literally falling asleep at my desk. It was hard to stay awake. I do have obstructive sleep apnea however I use a CPAP every night. According to the readout on the machine I usually stay between 2 and 4 events an hour.
Avatar f tn ) Cymbalta is used to treat major depression and anxiety. It is also used to relieve nerve pain (peripheral neuropathy) in people with diabetes. This medication is a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) that works by helping to restore the balance of certain natural substances in the brain (neurotransmitters). Duloxetine may improve your mood, sleep, appetite, and energy level, and decrease nervousness COuld you tell me what other medications you are currently taking?
Avatar m tn Duloxetine failed the US approval for stress urinary incontinence amidst the concerns about liver toxicity and suicidal events; however, it was approved for this indication in Europe and Canada. Duloxetine alleviates pain associated with diabetic neuropathy and fibromyalgia; however, its efficacy relative to the established treatments, such as anticonvulsants and tricyclic antidepressants, has not been established.
Avatar n tn I would not have recommend you to go onto duloxetine, in some, duloxetine can cause kidney and liver problems, drinking alcohol while taking this drug will unfortunately increase that risk and even more so with someone with your condition.
Avatar m tn I'm on Day 3 of Duloxetine and I've started having numbness/tingling in my arms, legs, hands and face. Is this normal and will it go away with time? I'm used to certain side effects from SSRI/SSNRI medications but never had this one before. It isn't super bad but it is kind of annoying. Any answers would be much appreciated.
Avatar m tn was prescribed Duloxetine 500mg for depression. This seemed to have a good effect on my pains as a bonus. After about 6 to 8 months I decided to stop taking the Duloxetine as I felt happier but as I was weaning myself off, the pains returned with a vengeance. To this day, my doctor has no idea what might be causing all this so I just blunder on from day to day taking the tablets.
Avatar m tn Hi, I do know that doctors will sometimes find a combo of things (most often by accident) works best in a patient. A low dose of one and a higher dose of another. With Mirtazapine & duloxetine used together, you have to watch for serotonin syndrome. They are commonly prescribed together though.
905463 tn?1243526062 secondly let me propose you an antidepressant medication for your pain.. ! yes for your pain knowing that you dont have depression but many similar cases respond well to that type of medications. Now which one is the best.. maybe also we should find a nonexpenses one. Names are like (brand name) Duloxetine 30 then 60 mg later on or Tryptizol 25mg Also I propose a kind of sport or back and abdominal muscle conditioning.
Avatar f tn I also take tizanidine and hydrocodone. I used a E-stem and Dragontree (online) have some awesome pain patches. Carry on.
Avatar m tn Does anyone know if alpha blockers negate the positive effects of Duloxetine? It seems that if norepinephrine is blocked via the alpha blocker than it would cancel out the effect of the norepinephrine re-uptake and subsequent positive effects of an SNRI.
Avatar f tn There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women; therefore, duloxetine should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
