910342 tn?1242748243 Hi, I am 39yrs old and have dealing with this back pain for about 3+ years now. I have had several MRI's, bone scan, x-rays. I have had shots into my spine several times, burned nerves in my back 3 times and taken vicodin, fentenal, dialaudid for that long. Also massive amounts of ibuprofen. My pain originates in my lower back (both sides and spine) and and radiates up and between my shoulder blades but mostly stays in my lower back.
5055866 tn?1362951481 Unfortunately smoking does affects the amount of duloxetine in your system and blood stream meaning that you will loose between 40 - 50% of the duloxetine dose you take. It is not uncommon for people to have their duloxetine prescription increased if they smoke. Unfortunately it is not uncommon if you miss a dose to be experiencing these problems if your on a high dose, my patients even at a dose of 30mg do experience brain zaps, nausea and vomiting even with just one day missed.

Avatar f tn It has worked well for controlling my pain (not perfect but pretty good). I also get some lower back pain (combination of osteoarthritis and nerve stuff) that only happens when I over-do (like trying to garden, etc.). I typically need a day or two of Vicodin for that as the Celebrex does not seem to work for that.
Avatar n tn Is there any way to alleviate the symptoms of duloxetine withdrawal? How long do symptoms usually last, and will they go away on their own?
1580828 tn?1322128022 Unfortunately it is not uncommon if you miss a dose to be experiencing these problems if your on a high dose, my patients even at a dose of 30mg do experience brain zaps, nausea and vomiting even with just one day missed even more so if you suffer with fibro pain, This is why duloxetine should be withdrawn extremely slowly and only under professional help
Avatar f tn There are medications that can help alleviate the burning/pain. One of the main ones is Duloxetine, which is a generic for Cymbalta. I take that for my neuropathy… It helps considerably, but doesn’t eliminate the pain. If you look it up, Cymbalta (Duloxetine) is listed as an anti-depressant, but it’s used “off label” quite often for pain. Check with your doctor and see if that might be possibility for you.
20003388 tn?1515166040 I was recently switched from Paroxetine to Fluoxetine. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. When on Paroxetine and I was tired ALL the time. I was literally falling asleep at my desk. It was hard to stay awake. I do have obstructive sleep apnea however I use a CPAP every night. According to the readout on the machine I usually stay between 2 and 4 events an hour.
Avatar m tn It is supposed to have fewer side effects than the paxil. Will it really get me back to my old self of just fun loving, and not worrying about every little wrong feeling my body gets? On a side note could I experience Ativan withdrawal after only taking 0.5mg pretty much once a day for about a week? I am trying not to take it as often, but I also do not want to experience severe withdrawal symptoms. Thanks for anyone that can help!!
962875 tn?1314210036 This is an informational post. As many of you know or have experienced, the AIs ( Arimidex, Femara, Aromasin), which are used to treat hormone-receptor positve breast cancer, often produce joint or muscle pain as a side effect. For about 20% of women, the side effects are so severe that they stop taking their medicine, which increases the risk that their breast cancer will recur.

Avatar m tn For 8 years I have been getting a number of symptoms that have grown both in number and severity. I get an extremely sharp pain shooting down my left arm from the armpit to the end of my thumb and forefinger which could last up to about 10 secs (I call it the stinger) I still get this but less frequently. To this day, I have an increasing number of all sorts of shooting, stabbing, gnawing & aching pains all over my body along with stiff painful joints.
Avatar f tn I think my anxiety attacks are pretty much under control since I take the duloxetine, and I really think with me taking Duloxetine and me completely stopping the vyvanse was why I didn't have a harder time coming off the medication.
Avatar n tn I would not have recommend you to go onto duloxetine, in some, duloxetine can cause kidney and liver problems, drinking alcohol while taking this drug will unfortunately increase that risk and even more so with someone with your condition.
Avatar f tn My right leg was achy and the pain in my shoulder blade area had lessened with the exception of surgical pain. I am 9 weeks post op and am now having increased pain in my leg, The pain in my scapula is worse than before surgery and I also have a sensation of something crawling around under my shoulder blade. This seems to cause a terrible tightening, and pain up the right side of my neck. This pain at times feels like it is pushing on my throat and making it difficult to swallow.
Avatar m tn Hi, I do know that doctors will sometimes find a combo of things (most often by accident) works best in a patient. A low dose of one and a higher dose of another. With Mirtazapine & duloxetine used together, you have to watch for serotonin syndrome. They are commonly prescribed together though.
Avatar m tn In clinical trials of all indications, 31,268 patients were treated with duloxetine. Of these, 29.5% (9222) took duloxetine for at least 6 months, and 13.8% (4317) for at least one year. Cardiac Disorders — Frequent: palpitations; Infrequent: myocardial infarction and tachycardia. Ear and Labyrinth Disorders — Frequent: vertigo; Infrequent: ear pain and tinnitus. Endocrine Disorders — Infrequent: hypothyroidism.
1218873 tn?1300091216 i was prescribed pregabapentin and at only 50mg twice daily i become so drowsy i was unable to function- so gp weaned me back to 25mgs a day and asked pain clinic to review-- they then changed it to duloxetine which again at only 60mg, i am constantly sleeping and fall asleep anytime of day- he has now added in gabapentin 100mg, with the duloxetine and to increase to three times a day-- from what everybody says, this is about the same as the pregabapentin but with the duloxetine added.
Avatar n tn What is the cause of your neuropathy? Duloxetine is also a good suggestion for Diabetic neuropathy.
Avatar f tn Wish I could help, I didn't even know there was a Generic for Cymbalta. Try a Google search and see what you can dig up regarding generic cymbalta.
